Essay On Georgetown's Early Assurance Program

When I was ten my mom hooked me on Grey’s Anatomy. There was one thing that stuck with me when watching Dr. Alex Karev, my favorite character, come into his own and become a pediatric surgeon: the satisfaction of being able to help someone’s child. As I matured I obviously realized how fabricated the show is, however I believe that behind all the drama, helping children really would produce this satisfaction. And that’s what I want to feel. By studying biology at Georgetown University, I hope to gain all of the skills necessary to go onto medical school and later become a pediatrician. I want to give myself the best shot of attaining this goal, and with one of the top biology programs in the country, I know that Georgetown would adequately prepare me to achieve my aspirations. One aspect of Georgetown that heavily influences my interest is the Early Assurance Program with Georgetown’s School of Medicine. To be able to know my future as early as the start of my junior year is an enticing opportunity, and would motivate me to work hard throughout my studies at Georgetown. As I toured the campus this summer, I could practically feel the motivation that radiated off of the students. In high school I have experienced classes with motiveless students as well as those with motivated students, and I undoubtedly favor the latter. Being in a classroom with students who strive for greatness is an inspiring atmosphere, which positively influences me to work diligently as well. Georgetown students’ determination to succeed would further incite my own determination. At Georgetown, I know that I would never experience the tarnished ambience from lack of determination, wasted time, and blank stares. A yearn for knowledge is a constant among Georgetown students, which I desire to be an aspect that characterizes my own college
