The Help is a compelling movie about the African American struggle during the 1960s. It tells a story of African American maids and the racial division between them and their white employers. This movie is like no other. It is very funny, captivating, and current. Using stars,on a scale of one being horrible to five being good; I give this movie a five based the overall plot of the movie and costume design.

The movie was a good because it was very well put together because it portrayed exactly what type of hardships African Americans went through during 1960s. Award-winning actor, Viola Davis, played the main character Aibileen. Aibileen stood out in the movie as and empowering figure for the maids; she symbolized a mother figure to not only the children she took care of but to the maids as well. I saw strength in Aibileen. She had a beautiful heart for the children she took care of and genuinely loved them. Minny was also someone that stood out to me in the movie. She was very stubborn but also very wise and caring. The character Minny was played by actress Octavia Spencer, who has also acted in other award-winning movies such the as Hidden Figures. Minny’s character definitely grew throughout the movie. Although the maids clothing was very plain, the uniforms weren’t ugly. It was nice and put together. For the white women, they’re clothes were very vibrant. I noticed that they wore pearls with mostly every outfit they wore. Women also enjoyed wearing curls in their hair. I was surprised when I saw Celia in a tight fit dress. I didn't know that women would wear that type clothing. However, Celia was very different from the right of the women so that may have explained her choice of clothing.Skeeter was more a plain jane.
