In spite of Jesus being sent to the cross by his disciple, Judas, and highly regarded religious rulers of his day, he cried out for God the Father to forgive them for ignorantly sending him to die. Jesus never committed a sin according to Hebrews 4:15, yet he was condemned to die. The people who sent him to the cross did not understand that they were killing God’s precious son. John 3:16. Religion is man searching for God, Christianity is God searching for man .Which is why salvation is freely mine, and forgiveness is my own.

Question: "Why did Jesus say 'Father, forgive them' on the cross?"

Answer: Jesus’ words “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing” are found in Luke 23:34. Jesus looked down from the cross upon the scene that was most distressing to Him. The Roman soldiers were casting lots for His clothing (John 19:23-24); the criminals on the crosses to either side of Him were reviling Him (Matthew 27:44); the religious leaders were mocking Him (Matthew 27:41-43); and the crowd was blaspheming Him (Matthew 27:39). Jesus looked down upon this most unworthy lot and said, “Father, forgive them.” How could this be?

Even in His agony, Jesus’ concern was for the forgiveness of those who counted themselves among His enemies. He asked the Father to forgive the thieves on the cross who jeered and made fun of Him, one of whom went on to accept His love and mercy (Luke 23:32-33, 39-43). He asked the Father to forgive the Roman soldiers who had mocked Him, spit on Him, beat Him, yanked out His beard, whipped Him, put a crown of thorns on His head, and nailed Him cruelly to the cross. Still they personally held no ill will towards Him. They were simply following orders. This was how they normally treated condemned men and they believed that He truly deserved it. They didn’t know that they were killing the Son of God (1 Corinthians 2:8).

Juvenile Crime Paper Final Essay

...Juvenile Crime Jacqueline Allen CJS200 June 9, 2013 Charles Musselwhite Abstract Juvenile crime is a crime committed by minors (juveniles) younger than the statutory adult age. In most of the legal systems there are specific procedures followed when dealing with minor offenders, such as juvenile detention centers, boot camps, etc. This paper will attempt to create a better understanding of the offenses, the causes, and the procedures to deal with the criminal behavior of juveniles. In addition this paper will project ideas to reduce the criminal behavior of these minor’s through intervention and preventative measures. Juvenile Crime Each state has its own trenchant juvenile justice system with its own practices and laws. There are however broad underlying opinion that separates the juvenile justice system from the criminal justice system. The fundamental rationalization of the juvenile court system is that youth are developmentally different from adults and that they are susceptible of being lead or directed. Because of this pliant behavior the justice system feels that rehabilitation and treatment, with the addition of community protection are very feasible goals. In the adult court the defendant is provided greater Constitutional rights than are available in the juvenile court. An example of this is the criminal defendant has a right to a trial by a judge or a jury of their peers. A minor does not have that right; their fate is decided by a juvenile......

...with their child’s lifestyle and activities, but there has to be a point where they draw the line and say enough is enough. Parents get a feeling that their students are being taught the proper way to have sex instead of teaching abstinence. By giving away condoms parents feel that schools are giving the okay to have sex as long as you’re protected. Parents have to realize that their children will have sex whether they are an early or a late bloomer and there is no way around the subject matter. The idea is for sex-educational classes to tackle these problems head-on. It will include candid discussions about puberty, pregnancy, birth control and the risks of unprotected sex. With abstinence students are being told to sign a sheet of paper and promising to resist temptation, when there are so many beautiful things surrounding them like the music, movies, peer pressure, love, books, and opposite/same sex pushing them towards having sex. In middle school and high school children are at their development stage where they follow what they see and learn things about themselves that they never knew before and start to get a sense of who and what they want to be in life. They set foot in the trial and error period, where they learn to make mistakes and make life making decisions and say no to peer pressure and start to learn their true moral values. Young people are visible to a wide range of attitudes and beliefs in relation to sex and sexuality. These sometimes appear......

Lang, ED.D 2 Thesis statement I have dreams and goals that I have set for myself, which I believe will lead to a successful career and a better future for my family and me. I recently made a list of goals for the next five years. I decided that one of my major goals is to return to college, complete my education and get my degree. And now I’m back in school. Taking this step shows how I have come to accept responsibility for my future. Although I recognized that I will have to continue to exercise personal responsibility in order to achieve my goal. I. Introduction: Personal Responsibility My understanding and acceptance of personal responsibility has changed over time. My parents taught me about responsibility and I learned about taking responsibility in school. But as a young adult I still did not think much about decisions I made or their consequences. Since then I’ve had experience in the working world; and as a parent of two children, one of whom will soon be graduating from college; and just living for the last twenty years. And I’ve learned that taking responsibility for my decisions and actions is really the start of creating a successful life. ...Revolution was fought between 1775 and 1783. “The Grenville Ministry enacted three measures that aroused the distrust of all the colonies”. (p. 55) In general the colonist were not used to taxation. So while they were concerned with things like liberty, freedom, and religion; all the taxes are what stirred the final emotions that started the war. The Sugar Act which “placed duties on foreign sugar and other luxuries “(p. 55) and also re-enforced the Navigation Acts that put a stop to smuggling of goods. The Quartering Act forced Americans to supply food and lodging for all the soldiers in the New World causing the Americans even greater expenses. And the Stamp Act “provided further revenue for the expense of troops, placed a levy on most printed papers” (p. 55) all three of the Acts played a major role in the starting of the Revolution, “Taxation without representation”. (p 57) As the colonies attempted to fight back against the new taxes with the Boston Massacre in 1770, and then again with the Boston Tea Party in 1773, they were meet with another act. The Coercive Acts of 1774, the British not only punished Boston by closing the harbor port, but also affected the other colonies because it strengthened the Quartering Act. ...midnight as “black” (2188) parallels the black magic present throughout the play. In some religions the five points of the pentangle have come to represent the four elements plus the spirit (Pentagram, Wikipedia). Gawain forsakes God as his spiritual leader and is lead instead by his desire for personal power and invincibility in battle. The green belt he receives from the lady of the castle replaces the pentangle as his protection. “He wore it [the belt] not for its wealth… / nor pride… / But to keep himself safe” (2037-2040). It would seem this conclusion contradicts the symbolic meaning of the pentangle because Gawain turns from God and places his faith in material possessions instead. The pentangle, drawn without lifting the pen from the paper (Drake), where “each line is linked and locked with the next” (628) creates two intersecting, equilateral triangles. Neither triangle (nor character trait) can be taken individually from the other. The pentangle therefore signifies unity and infinity (Drake) where “each linked in other, that end there were none” (657). Gawain attempts to end his dependence on God but learns that he can not separate God and the material. Both must exist in harmony as the pentangle depicts, two opposing forces in constant tension but unable to sever because a circle binds them. When Gawain begins his search for the Green Chapel he calls on “Mary [to] be his guide,” (638) but when he becomes overwhelmed “he crosses himself, and cries / On Christ in......

...the money that you may have to come out of is a good enough reason on why you would want to save up money to take care of some of the fees that will occur when making the decision to buy a home. Renting can put some of these things in someone else’s hands to where you can save the money that is extra from your monthly payment. When renting an apartment you will never have to worry about fixing the toilet, sink, or plumbing because all of those things are paid by the landlord. Making the decision to rent now and buy later can also give you enough time to wait on the economy to get stronger which can make buying a home a much smoother process. Rent now and buy later is best technique right now. My plan and point of view in this persuasive paper is trying to persuade the reader that renting an apartment always easier than buying a home. The renter should first look into all options available. If you are interested in renting, consider doing some internet research and in the newspapers. Another decision, you can look at various places and the neighborhoods if it is suitable for you and your family and the safety of the neighborhood. The renter also has the option of negotiating in a price range of renting a home. Some apartments varies in price range according to the neighborhoods that you will like to consider living. There are options also to consider when purchasing a home especially as a first time home buyer. First you need to get a mortgage to purchase a home. Another......

I Am Essay Paper

... I AM PAPER “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE.” Craig Hardin BIBL 160-BO2 The Gospel of John February 22, 2015 In the research for the writing of this paper, I began reading a book that my grandfather read as he was studying at Carson Newman University after his ordination to preach the Gospel. In the book entitled, John’s Witness to Jesus, it states in speaking of Jesus: “in each figure of speech Jesus unfolded fresh truth about himself.” There are seven “I AM’S” in the book of John that could be written about. I have chosen to write concerning Jesus and the comparison that he made to himself as the bread. One of the most miraculous happenings of the Book of John is the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand when there seemed to not be enough food to go around. Douglas Connelly writes concerning Jesus and his miracles in John; “These miracles were not performed simply to alleviate human suffering or to meet human needs; John called them signs. Like signs pointing to the right road, Jesus’ miracles pointed to the truth of Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God.” Could we imagine what it would have been like during this time in history and to also have possibly have been a part of it as well? Gregg Matte reminds us: “In the fourth miracle-the only miracle found in all Gospel accounts-Jesus shows compassion for the people by filling their stomachs and opening their hearts. “ The Reverend Donald McCorkindale said something interesting in an article I read for this paper: “When......

Critical Essay on Two Academic Papers

...1.0 INTRODUCTION The purpose of the current paper is to critically review the contributions that two of these studies have made to our understanding of societal perceptions, social support and how it affects breastfeeding attitudes and outcomes. (Kronborg and Vaeth 2004) Defined Social support as the mother's perceptions in relation to the support she receives from peers, family and the society at large. The first paper to be reviewed is written by (Leeming et al. 2013) and entitled 'Socially sensitive lactation: Exploring the social context of breastfeeding'. The second paper is written by (Scott et al. 2015) and entitled 'A comparison of maternal attitudes to breast feeding in public and the association with breastfeeding duration in four European countries: Results of a cohort study. The current paper will summarise the arguments, review the subject matter in both papers and compare and contrast the different methodological approaches taken by the authors with comments on the appropriateness of each method chosen. It concludes by a justified opinion of the subject. (Li et al. 2008), stated that discomfort with the idea of breastfeeding is one of the concerns for some women choosing not to breastfeed or incorporating shorter duration of breastfeeding (Stuebe and Bonuck 2011). Decades of research confirm the benefits of breastfeeding for infants and for maternal health (Cricco 2007) (Tarrant, Dodgson and Wu 2014) (Ingram et al. 2008). 1.1 ARGUMENTS (Leeming et al. 2013)...

Paper Man Review Essay

...In life you don’t always get what or who you want. Sometimes it takes hundreds of paper airplanes to come alive to direct you in the right direction. In Paperman, a beautifully animated short film, a guy and a girl experience meant to be love due to fateful and magical events. Although no sound or color, this short film perfectly captures the beauty of love and fate. Paperman is a rated G short film directed by John Kahrs and produced by Walt Disney. It was released in 2012, and won an oscar for best short film of 2012. Although no sound, the music in the background composed by Christophe Beck perfectly sets the mood, so you have a feel of their emotions. Paperman is about a guy who tries to get a girls attention after seeing her for the first time. This short film tells a story of a guy who is hopeful, unpredictable, and somewhat romantic, and a girl who is pretty, shy, and punctual, who first meet at a train station, and pretty much experience ‘love at first sight’. Sadly, they end up on different paths until later that day. While upset over the girl, the guy was at work and happened to see the girl of his dreams once again on the opposite skyscraper. Building a bunch of paper airplanes to get her attention, he ended up failing. Until, the paper airplanes magically swept him off his feet and led him to his love. What makes this short film so great is the way it can capture a moment without words. Throughout the whole movie the characters don’t actually speak,......
