...Part A – Standards & Procedures Attendance policy Regular attendance contributes to the success of Company X. Absenteeism reduces the quality and efficiency of operations and production of products and services. Absenteeism also places a hardship on co-workers and team members who report to work regularly. Regular attendance is an important responsibility of every employee, and employees are expected to be at work, on time, every working day. Extreme tardiness or leaving early can be as detrimental to the company as an absence. Multiple tardies or leaving early will be considered a “pattern” or “attendance problem.” Other factors, such as degree of lateness or leaving early, may be considered. When a pattern arises, disciplinary action will be taken. If a verifiable condition exists, such as a traffic accident forcing a road closure, an ice storm (or other act of God, which results in an employee being late to work,), such lateness will not be counted against the employee. There may be occasions it may be necessary for you to be absent or take time off from work. Company X is understands and is aware that emergencies, pressing personal business, or illness that cannot be scheduled outside of your working hours may need to be addressed. Personal days have been provided for this purpose. Company X understands there are times when you are still contagious with an illness, but feel well enough to work. ...Assessment code: EST1 Task 1 Company Q’s current attitude towards social responsibility is non-existent. They have closed stores in parts of the city with higher crime rates due to fear of theft and losses. Company Q offers a limited amount of healthy and organic products even though their customers have requested more options. Company Q has a mindset that inhibits an obligation to be socially responsible. They would rather throw food away than to donate it to help feed those that are hungry and in need, for fear of loss due to stealing. It is important for Company Q to devise a plan to maintain their current number of stores through positive contributions to society and favorable public relations. When the commitment is made to be socially more responsible the potential for increased sales, profit and customer loyalty will be exponential. Below are three areas in which Company Q can concentrate efforts and take action towards being more socially responsible. 1. Company Q needs to increase their product line in organic and health conscience products. Offering sponsorships for healthy eating at local children’s organizations and schools will increase their exposure in the community. This can allow for increased logo display and recognition. By offering items that your customers want and supporting that effort through community awareness about healthy eating, will build loyalty with new and existing customers. 2. Est1 - Task 310.2.1-05

...EST1 - Task 310.2.1-05 The attitude of Company Q towards social responsibility seems to be decreased by the pressure of profit loss. They closed 2 stores recently due to the fact that they were continually losing money. This not only creates a problem for the employee's that worked there, but also for the customers who frequented the stores. By improving their ethical makeup they could not only improve their profits, but it would also help the relationship with their employees and customers grow. There are a few things that Company Q could work on and change to create a better enviroment for the community. They decided to close 2 different stores in higher crime areas stating they were losing money. Instead of closing the stores they could implement new procedures to increase security. Installing cameras or hiring security guards to stand outside the store or patrol inside would show their customers that they are concerned for the safety of those shopping there. Company Q could also could work with other business owners and city government to makes changes to the area surrounding the store. These changes could include a well lit store front, friendly employees, and a well organized store. Company Q would have to make enough improvements to show their customers they care. This could have increased sales and possibly saved the company from closing the two stores. When asked about donating their day old food to the local food bank, the company refused and chose...

Est1 Task One

...EST1 TASK ONE JLO Part A Company Q is not currently behaving in a positive manner when it comes to social responsibility; in fact, they seem to take an “I don’t care” attitude. They have closed several stores in big metropolitan cities citing that the stores are located in high crime areas and the stores were not turning a profit, this is very irresponsible behavior as it takes jobs away from the community, and these areas, unfortunately are the ones that need it the most. For years customers had been inquiring about the company selling healthier, organic products in which Company Q eventually complied, however, the small limited selection and high mark ups kept the customers from buying ,in turn causing the company to not turn as much profit. Finally, instead of deciding to donate day old food to local food banks, Company Q made the poor decision of wasting it by throwing it out. Company Q has an almost nonexistent attitude towards social responsibility and needs to incorporate several changes in order to turn their position around in the community. Part B Company Q can implement several changes into their stores that may improve their attitudes towards social responsibility. 1. Company Q closed several stores citing the fact that they were in high crime areas, there is a possibility these stores could have been saved if the company had made proper evaluations to find out why these stores weren’t performing well. For example, if the stores were under performing...
