Estevanico was a famous black explorer. He was the first African to set foot in the United States. He was born sometime in the 16 century around the 1500. As a teenager, he was enslaved in Portugal, Spain. His first owner was Andres Dorantes de Carranza. It was common for the Portuguese to sell many Moroccans into slavery. Estevanico was sold a lot. The Welcoming He was born in a town called Azemmour on the west coast of Morocco. Since he was a black he was often called “ Estevanico the black.” Later they got away and went into tribe were they were welcomed as medicine men also the tribe helped Estevanico learn different languages and a little bit of sign language. The Pueblos of Jumano They came to the Pueblos of the Jumano tribe. The indians treated Estevanico like a god. When the Pueblos traveled with them, Castillo and Estevanico heard tales of rich cities and interior.They traveled into now what we call it Mexican State of Chihuahua. Then they got slaved again and told their leader about the rich cities and interior then they got sold again.

The End of The famous Black Explorer Estevanico When he was in the tribe he was a scout and a main guide. He was killed by a chief because he sent a symbol back to the person he traveled with and it meant war but he didn’t know it meant that. So the chief asked to leave but he didn’t. So the chief sent him to a house that had no food or water for 1 day and then the next day the chief sent some soldiers to the house and killed Estevanico.
