This is what Esther Reed said when the war was upon them, “In war or peace, in sickness or health, in trouble and danger and distress through time and through eternity to Love.” She cared about freedom and the army. Esther Reed's life was full of drama, war and adventure. This story is about Esther Reed’s early life, adult life and contribution to the Revolutionary War.
Esther Reed was born on October 22, 1746. She had powerful words during her early life when she would stand on her feet and speak. She was an only child of Mr. and Miss Berdt. Miss Berdt died at a young age. Her father Dennis DeBerdt was a british merchant. Esther was born in 1746 in London and she went to school at Harvard Extension School. …show more content…
During the Revolutionary War she did sewing for the army's clothing and never gave up and during the war of the Colonist and the British when they were in battle. She got married on May 31, 1770. When her husband was down she shot the canon. She was not a loyalist she was a patriot and had 6 children. She standed by her husband Joseph Reed and fought by him and she was the aid of General Washington. She was the wife of a Revolutionary War general Joseph Reed and she was a civic leader who formed the Ladies Philadelphia.
