1. Introduction:
The report analyzes various aspects of primary research and offers an understanding of how secondary research can be used to supplement it. Merits and demerits of primary and secondary research are discussed in academic and marketing terms.

2. Primary Research:
Primary research is developed by researchers by witnessing first hand sources without using their own analysis, interpretation and opinions. It usually includes diaries, speeches, autobiographies, interviews and newspapers or magazines (University of Pittsburgh 2003). Further explanation of primary sources is given by Blythe (2008). He explains that primary sources derived from original research which is usually supported by questionnaires, interviews and product tests involving customers.
