Our committee recommends that Evergreen Technical College Administration pursue one or both of the choices:

Option 1: Implementing smoking kiosks and a smoking cessation program
There are several options of smoking kiosks available, we recommend the . This option is both cost-effective and an attractive choice for the school. With these in place it provides an excellent opportunity to advertise for a smoking cessation program. Several Universities have been successful in implementing classes and programs to help the smoker quit. The telephone quit lines, apps, and websites could also have promotional posters in the kiosk if those are a better option for the smoker.

Acceptability of Avocado and Coconut as a Healthy Smoothie

...ACCEPTABILITY OF AVOCADO AND YOUNG COCONUT MEAT AS HEALTHY SMOOTHIE Jo V. Ambat Annie Grace A. Bustamante Nico Braselle Casaña Raymond M. de Taza Manche P. Pere A research study presented to the faculty of Home Economics, Vocational and Technical, Education Department, College of Education, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite in partial fulfilment of the requirements in HRML 24- Research I. Prepared under the supervision of Dr. Editha G. Reyes 1. INTRODUCTION The avocado is colloquially known as the Alligator Pear, reflecting its shape and the leather-like appearance of its skin. Avocado is derived from the Aztec word "ahuacatl". Avocados are the fruit from Persea americana, a tall evergreen tree that can grow up to 65 feet in height. Avocados vary in weight from 8 ounces to 3 pounds depending upon the variety. There are dozens of varieties of avocadoes. The rich and creamy Hass variety is the most popular type of avocado in the United States, and 95% of all avocados grown in the United States are produced in California, original home of the Hass variety. They are generally available throughout the year, they are the most abundant and at their best during the spring and summer in California and in October in Florida. While avocados are technically fruits, we have categorized them here as vegetables since this is how they are usually considered from a culinary perspective. Avocados can make a great base for a high-energy smoothie that will satisfy you and...

Business

...Food System Economic Context of Local Food Production How redevelopment of a local food system meets economic and green jobs goals. The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District reported in spring 2009 that farmers are a key to the local economy. The 2007 Census of Agriculture stated that in Carlton, St. Louis and Douglas counties farming is one of the largest family-owned, small business sectors of the local economy. Farmers in these three counties sold $27.7 million of livestock and crops in 2007. Cattle and dairies are the most important component in our region with $17.3 million of total sales. They reported a potential to increase productivity here. About one third of the farmland in this region was fertilized or had manure applied in 2007, and hay fields averaged about 1.5 tons per acre. Nationwide, more than two thirds of cropland was fertilized (although that includes row crops) and hay fields were about 2.5 tons per acre – even in other parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, with a similar climate. Farming is one of the bigger sources of income for self-employed business owners in this region. In Carlton County, for example, farmers sold $8 million of produce in 2007. Only self-employed construction firms, with $14 million of sales, and real estate, with $8.2 million in sales, were larger. It’s likely that agriculture in regions like the Northland will be even more important in the future. The United States currently has an abundance of cropland – about 1.4 acres per......

Efficiency Analysis of Container Port Terminals

...University College London Centre for Transport Studies Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering University College London 2010 1 Declaration I, Qianwen Liu, confirm that the work presented in this thesis is my own. Where information has been derived from other sources, I confirm that this has been indicated in the thesis. Candidate’s signature ………………………………….. Qianwen Liu 2 Abstract In the past two decades the steady growth of seaborne trade has resulted in the increase of container ships, container ports and their terminals. The structure of the shipping market is, moreover, continuously evolving. On the carrier side, shipping companies form consortia and alliances; on the port side, global terminal operators and dedicated container terminals are emerging. The aim of this research is to evaluate the efficiency of container ports and terminals and to study how to improve the scale efficiency of any particular port/terminal. In particular we study how certain factors influence the efficiency of container ports and terminals. Regional container ports and global container terminals are examined based on the econometrics benchmarking method Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). Two datasets are used, a panel dataset for 32 container ports in the North Mediterranean Sea over a nine-year period, and a cross-sectional dataset for 165 container terminals worldwide. Net-effect and gross-effect SFA models are applied to both......
