The Digital Age

...somewhat fixed in their ways. The saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is used to describe digital immigrants. With the world today revolving around social media, managers and executive level managers are blocking them from their company’s network as a means of safe guarding from hacks and such. So much so that it is a lifestyle and it is the basis for their way of working and communicating. Natives are literate, connected, social, and in need of instant gratification. (Myers, M. Private Equity Investment

...Harvard Business School 9-297-005 Rev. October 18, 1996 D O Private Equity Investment in Russia: Alliance Cellulose Limited N In April, 1995, portfolio managers were reassessing the investment climate in Russia. Since the disintegration of Communism and the Soviet Union in 1991, western investors had been intrigued by the potentially huge returns that could be gained by participating in the restructuring of the Russian economy. Russia’s transformation to a market system, however, had been highlighted by missteps and disappointments. Foreign investors who had jumped into the market only eight months earlier were burned badly by a general market collapse in October. Furthermore, Russia’s political and economic future were uncertain. O Nevertheless, Russia possessed many attractive features that could reward those with the courage to invest at this early stage of market development. Russia’s natural resources accounted for significant portions of the world’s proven oil and gas, timber, coal, and minerals reserves. In addition, the privatization process, lack of internal capital, and country-specific risk resulted in valuations for Russian companies that seemed to be small fractions of their world peers. T Russia in 1995 was frequently compared to America’s “Wild West,” when the search for riches and general lawlessness combined to create very volatile conditions. While western money managers were drawn to Russia by tantalizing asset valuations...

Judicial Branch

...Judicial branch is given great power over the common law, but still very limited due to a complex system or checks and balances. The Federalist Papers 78-83 describes in great detail the newly proposed system of judicial government. The author of these papers was Alexander Hamilton. John Jay, and James Madison contributed to the other parts of the Federalist. The most interesting aspect of the judicial branch is the way it fits into the system that also is comprised of the Executive branch, and the legislative branch. Alexander Hamilton writes, “The judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy or injure them”. The executive branch can be viewed as the, “sword of the community”, and the legislative has the power to create the laws the all citizens of the United States must follow (Hamilton 78). The brilliant thing is even though it seems the judicial branch of government does not carry as much power, it never states that in Hamilton’s letters due to the fact that the judicial branch is considered an “indispensable ingredient” (Hamilton 78). The power of the judicial branch may be considered not as direct as the other branches, but is still powerful nonetheless. The legislative branch and executive branch together have the power and ability to pass laws that the people must follow, but who keeps those two branches within their own boundaries...
