Double A alkaline batteries are used in many electronic devices today. Alkaline batteries produce electricity from the chemical reaction between zinc and manganese dioxide. There are many different manufactures of Double A batteries all claiming that their batteries last longer.

Literature Review
There are many different uses for Double A batteries and all battery manufactures want their batteries to be the longest lasting. There have been many tests done by the manufacturers of batteries and independent companies.
The Power Stream Company tested the discharge rate of different batteries. They used the CBA II Battery Analyzer to test the discharge rate of each battery. The batteries they tested were Radio Shack Enercell Plus, Duracell Coppertop, Energizer Titanium, Energizer Max, Eveready Gold, Energizer Lithium and the Power Stream 2000 mAH Rechargeable. The Radio Shack Enercell and the Duracell Copper top were the two best batteries. The Radio Shack Enercell was best at a high discharge rate and the Duracell Copper Top was best at a very low discharge rate.
The Bit Box Company tested over forty different brands of batteries. They used their own engineered constant load testing device. That was connected to a laptop computer which would graph the results of the test. It could test several batteries at one time. They used batteries from name brand manufacturers to discount store brands. The graph below shows the results of the test. Experimental Design Steps
Two Double A batteries will be inserted in a Princeton Tech head lamp with a halogen bulb. The head lamp will be turned on and timed until the headlamp no longer shines light.
1. Test two Double A batteries with a volt tester making sure that they are at 1.5 volts
2. Insert two Double A batteries into the head lamp.

...A problem I’m current experiencing is not having cell service at my home. No matter where inside my home I attempt to make or receive a call my cell phone does not receive a signal. The only I’m able to receive or make calls is by going outside which in the summertime can very uncomfortable. I have looked into several solutions for my problem. I started with calling my carrier, AT&T, and they were not very helpful in resolving my problem. They advised that they were not intending on building any new cell towers near my home. I asked if there any obstructions causing interference with me receiving a signal in my home and AT&T advised me that there was not. I next researched signal boosters, which takes a carrier’s weak signal from an outside location and amplifies the signal and rebroadcast it inside the home, apartment, or office. One of the advantages of a signal booster is that it will amplify numerous carriers’ signal so if you are entertaining guest who have different cell phone carriers they will all benefit from the signal boost. A couple of the disadvantage where that you would need to mount an outdoor antenna and run a cable to the unit inside the house and the average cost of a signal booster is $599 (www.lifehacker.com). The best solution I found was a device called Femtocell, which looks like a wireless router but acts like a mini cell tower in my home.
