Every person, born into this world is relying and requiring someone else for his or her own survival. A need is defined as “a requirement, necessary duty, or obligation”(Farlex). Children do need their parents or a role model but they do start to grow, develop and become more aware of their surroundings enabling them to become more independent. Often wanting to go ahead before adults can realize. It is vital to produce an environment that allows children to advance and flourish at their own rate it is fundamental to pay close attention.This essay will be going through the physical and psychological needs of a 3 year old child and how ideally these needs are met within a childcare setting.

Physical development is important as it allows a child to explore their own environment enabling them to not require so much help. Permitting new types of behavior to be found or formed. The importance of this is because it effects cognitive, social and emotional development.
