This play undeniably shows the exploitation of faith. Moliere has done a really good job at making that clear. No he did not mean for it to be reprehensible or cause harm to anyone, this play was simply for fun and to get a small point across. That point being is that some people have misused faith in many ways and think they can get away with it. Some things being that some people had thought that they could/can get away with adultery and other things that are not acceptable in the Catholic religion but people still think they can get away with it if they do certain things.
