...Cold War Summary Notes Topic 1 – The Beginnings of the Cold War 1945-1949 • Background – the ideologies of capitalism and communism and the governments of the USA and USSR. o The USA was a democracy and held free elections whereas the USSR was a Communist state. Elections were uncontested and all candidates were Communist. o In the USA business was privately owned, but in the USSR all business and industry were owned by the state. o In the USA there were great differences between the rich and poor. In the USSR there were tight controls on the amount of money that individuals could own. o Both the USA and USSR believed that other countries should be run in the same way that theirs was. o Many people in each country were strongly against the beliefs of the other. • It is important to realise that the differences in beliefs between the two countries alone did not cause the Cold War. The two countries had even been allies during World War Two. However, the USA had learned from the experience of the Second World War that they should not give in to the demands of dictators. Any action that was perceived as a threat of the spread of Communism would bring a reaction from the USA. The Yalta Conference • This was held in February 1945, before the end of the Second World War, when it was clear that Germany was losing the war in Europe. It was held at Yalta in the Ukraine. • The three main figures at the......

If the employees are trained and recruited correctly, it would show that the business is successfully operating. Job advert A job advert can be seen on television, an announcement in a newspaper or on a poster about a post of employment, in this case, Asda created a poster, this is a great of attracting candidates and helps define the duties the new staff member will be responsible for, previous experience and skills they will need and what level of authority they will hold. By providing job advertisement on posters, reduces the time companies spend interviewing unsuitable candidates by making sure their precise when explaining the job requirements. For example in the job advert, they are looking for someone with a “warm, friendly and approachable personality”, this would go under personal skill because it is a skill that can only come from the applicants characteristics, Asda then mentions “giving it your all and keeping s friendly face while being rushed on your feet” by extending and hinting the fact that when doing this job you would constantly be up on your feet, narrows...

Tuiion Reimbursement

...TUITION REIMBURSEMENT IMPLEMENTATION SHON SMITH XCOM/285 OCTOBER 27, 2012 ROBIN MINARD Tuition Reimbursement Implementation The success of a company depends on the success of their employees. Opportunity and security is what employees seek when looking for employment. Many companies today offer a variety of benefits to employees i.e. health insurance, paid vacation and holidays, retirement, and various assistance programs. One program that I feel will be beneficial to our company and our employee’s is a tuition reimbursement program for employee’s who obtain their bachelor’s degree. As you all know the company has already approved a budget for the program so the cost of the program is not an issue. The addition of the program will benefit our company and our employee’s. The benefits and opportunities that the tuition reimbursement program gives our employee’s are endless. Tuition reimbursement will improve our employees overall skill level, education, job performance, and prepare them for promotional opportunities within the company. Employee’s that are well educated and have higher skill levels will add to the success of the company. I believe that adding the tuition reimbursement program will entice employees to stay with the company, which cuts down on the turnover rate. The turnover rate in the United States in 2011 was 38% according to the department of labor ( We have to invest in our employees if we want......

Bsn vs Adn

...Whether you are a diploma, or an Associates degree or a Baccalaureate degree prepared RN all are considered collaboratively as a apart of the health care team that promotes safety, maintains health and provides treatment to patients that are acutely and chronically ill. There are three different ways in which one could obtain a degree in nursing and become a Registered Nurse. An Associate’s degree of nursing (ADN) which is a 2 yr. degree, a diploma nurse which is a 3 yr. program completed in a hospital based setting and the Baccalaureate degree of nursing (BSN) which is a 4 year degree and considered to some the entry level into nursing. Completion of any of these three programs qualifies a nurse to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The NCLEX-RN is a state board examination that is used to test the entry level competency of nurses. This paper will pinpoint the different competencies between a nurse that has graduated with ADN and a nurse that has a BSN.The ADN program was established in the 1950’s and founded by Mildred L. Montag. After World War II there was an extremeshortages of nurses and this two year associate degree program would help reduce the nursing shortage in the nation. This program was intended to teach technical bedside nursing in multiple different settings. ADN became popular because it wasmore cost effective, and the schooling was considerably shorter. Since the BSN programs are four year programs they focus more in depth on......

Differences Between Associate Degree and Baccalaureate Degree Nurses

...Differences in Associate Nurse and Baccalaureate Nurses There are three pathways to become a Registered Nurse (RN) the first is a diploma nurse which consist of one to three years training in a hospital these nurses are strongest clinically since the training is usually hospital based. The other two choices are the Associate Degree Nurse (ADN) and the Baccalaureate Degree Nurse (BSN) all of these graduate’s are candidates to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam. This paper will discuss the differences in the competency levels between the ADN and BSN. The Associate Degree Nursing program provides an efficient, economical pathway to becoming a registered nurse. Graduates are competent in clinical and proficient in technical skills required to practice safely in multiple settings and to fully assume the RN role. Associate Degree Programs began in 1952 at Fairleigh Dickinson University. This type of nurse is usually educated at community colleges and completes training in twenty to twenty-four months after pre-requisites are met. The facts would suggest that ADN has less theory and more clinical training and according to the American Association Nursing-Fact Sheet “Creating a More Highly Qualified Nursing Workforce” are less likely to notice a critical change in patient condition. The BSN completes their four years of education at the University level training is more focused on patient outcomes and nursing theories. Receiving more theoretical training they are better prepared...

Texas Adn V Bsn

...How much more professional and effective are the BSN nurses versus ADN or diploma based trained nurses? This leads me to ask the question: Is the use of Baccalaureate Degree Nurses any more effective than the use of Associate Degree Nurses? Professional Values: The Case for RN-BSN Completion Education. (Kubsch, & Hansen, 2008). This study was done to determine if BSN nurses possess greater professionalism than ADN nurses do. The purpose of this research study was to answer two main questions. “Do differences in the perception of professional values exist among practicing RNs? If so, is the difference related to educational background or is it due to other factors?” (Kubsch, & Hansen, 2008). Nurses in hospital settings were interviewed and surveyed. Three programs were looked at. The BSN, associate degree and hospital-based diploma programs. “A total of 590 RN’s who were working at a mid-sized Mid-western hospital and 130 nurses enrolled in an RN-BSN program were invited by e-mail to participate in the study” (Kubsch, & Hansen, 2008). The survey was done solely online. There were a total of 198 surveys completed electronically. The average age of the nurses who completed the survey was 41-50 years of age. More than three fourths of the 94% worked in a hospital setting. The research confirmed the highest level of professionalism was derived from the BSN nurses. The lowest came from the ADN group. The diploma based programs fell mainly in the middle, in part, largely due to......
