My facility evaluation took me to visit The Don Hutson Center, which is the indoor practice facility of the Green Bay Packers. The Hutson Center is located across the street from the legendary Lambeau Field, it was constructed in 1994 at a cost an estimated $4.7 million. The space has since been renovated and some technological advancements have been made inside of the structure to help the overall functionality of the facility for the Green Bay Packers.
Following are a list of questions that was asked/answered by Bryan Nehring who works in Facilities/Equipment for the Green Bay Packers and has been there for 20+ years. His experience with the practice facilities and seeing the current facility evolve to what it is now was a great resource.
Who was Don Hutson? The center is named after Don Hutson, who played for the Packers from 1935 to 1945. Hutson is a member of both the Pro Football and Packers Hall of Fame.
The Don Hutson Center is the largest element of the Packers' practice facility, which is broken into two other fields; Ray Nitschke Field and Clarke Hinkle Field.
What is the Facility Design?
There are two practice fields inside the Don Hutson Center, a 70-yard field runs East & West, with another 60-yard field running North & South. This setup is optimal because it allows the offense and defense to practice simultaneously without the issues of space, it’s something in which for any coach works out to their advantage. With 90-foot and 85-foot high ceilings over the respective fields, the facility allows the special teams to run full punting and kicking practices, though after speaking with Bryan is something in which they were consulted on. Both ceiling heights do run into the issue of punts occasionally hitting the top, especially if Punter Tim Masthay hits the ball on the perfect part of his foot! An interesting side note was, the Dallas Cowboys called the Packers for information on their ceiling height and if it was a factor (in which the Packers said YES!) and Jerry Jones decided to still go with the 90 ft. high Jumbotron, which is hit punting balls all the time!
What is the Playing Surface?
The playing field the Packers and the Don Hutson Center go with is FieldTurf. This surface allows the Packers to replicate game conditions for road game fields. FieldTurf is top of the line product and really the best available playing surface for not just Football but also soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse.
Is there seating available?
The only seating that is available is outside in which they have a capacity of 3,000 open seating. This is mainly for training camp open practices because the inside of the facility is private and strictly for the Green Bay Packers. There are some instances where “Special Guest” passes are available in which you have a field level view. This is for prominent ticket holders and coaching guests, the staff at SNC gets the opportunity whenever we’d like to visit with the Packers due to the 57 year relationship we have had with them.
Concessions or Merchandise available?
There are no true “concessions,” available but there are some food stands surrounding the facility that have burgers, dogs, and drinks. This is the same with merchandise, they have some small tents but the walk to Lambeau and the Packers Pro shop is about 3 mins so most of the visitors and fans can still get some “swag” if needed!

Athletic Training/Strength Facilities inside the Don Hutson?
Inside of the facility there are very little in terms of athletic training or strength and conditioning facilities. The main reason is when being built, the main purpose for the facility was strictly practice. The AT’s and SC coaches do have some rehab facilities inside of the Don Hutson Center but with Lambeau being so close it’s not necessary to have ancillary areas.
Technology associated with the Don Hutson Center?
In terms of technology, Packers' video department has elevated camera positions on the inside of the Hutson Center for filming practices, as well as four film perches on the outside for filming practices at Clarke Hinkle Field. The use of their scoreboard (outside and in) as well as the play clock is extremely important which they have available on every field. The last technology piece they have is sound system throughout the facility both outside and inside to simulate reality of crowd noise etc.
Is there any other events held in the facility or any ways to rent?
When asking Bryan this question he was almost taken back. This private facility is something that when Ron Wolfe and Mike Holmgren built together in 1994 wanted to strictly be for the players, coaches, and staff. Today, and especially for how much the Packers are adored across the state, the administration holds a few different Football Clinics inside the Don Hutson Center for the general public, which are more “Kids” oriented. These are strictly to enhance the fundamentals of the game and teach the proper techniques at a young age. They also hold a combine for High School athletes in which College Coaches can attend and evaluate prospects for the next upcoming recruiting classes.

In conclusion, this facility for what it is needed for is top of the line. To have all of their facilities so close is extremely easy from an accessibility standpoint. When looking at the facility from the outside in, though there are some signs, you would like to maybe see more. I think being a neutral fan I see it as, this is ALL people in this area have for sports so signs or not, on Sunday’s it Go Pack Go all day! Finally, I feel like the facility could get some more use and be more of a positive influence in the community. Being a football coach I understand the secrecy of having private/closed practices. It would be nice for the fans to have a chance to maybe tour or be involved somehow inside the facility, even if it is only a few days out of the year.

...Views - President’s Message Spring has sprung in Southern Ontario and my mind races onward with ideas that I want to implement both at work and home. And what a better way to explore these ideas and develop some structure around them, than by hiring a person that is motivated, energetic, and able to acquire current knowledge easily. Yeah I know you are asking “Where do I get in line for someone like that?” Well what I have just described is a co-op student. I have my usual 2 co-op students already reserved and they will be starting in 3 weeks time. And let me tell you my whiteboard is filling with initiatives and ideas for these two to deal with. And with two facility management related college programs in the area (at Humber College and at Conestoga Collage) there are co-op students looking for jobs in the facility management field. If you want the contact information use the membership CD just sent to you and on the opening page are the hyperlinks for both of these institutions. This is the third year that IFMA Toronto has produced the membership CD rather than published a membership roster. There are, of course, issues with this year’s CD as there have been with every membership roster created in history I believe. Some of the problems are related to getting updated information about member. As an example when people renew their membership and if it is tardy the membership listing we acquire from Houston does not contain all of our known members. Other issues like which sponsors...

...Facility Planning – Considerations Elizabeth Theodorides February 23, 2015 Intro In this paper I will go over the topics of what is the regulatory requirtement and their effects on the design and equipment and colors sections and noise issues. Also the types of equipment needed examination of budget planning and cost estimates, and description of the role of stakeholders in facility planning and development. Regulatory Requirements Hospitals are among the most regulated of all building types. Like other buildings, they must follow the local and/or state general building codes. However, federal facilities on federal property generally need not comply with state and local codes, but follow federal regulations. For many years the health care system has experienced a continuing decline in the number of beds required for inpatients. As inpatient care is reduced, there is a corresponding trend toward increased outpatient health care. An outpatient clinic is less expensive to build and operate than a hospital. Space need not be devoted to "hotel functions" (the typical nursing units of hospitals), (WBDG) and the extensive dietetic and housekeeping areas that accompany them. Fire code requirements are considerably less demanding and mechanical and electrical systems can be simpler. Multiple shifts of staff are not required, since the building is usually closed at nights and on weekends, and housekeeping can take place after it is closed to patients and most staff, rather than...

...Ericka Maxa Wilson WR 122 November 13, 2014 Causal Analysis Final Draft Online Classes Have you ever taken an online class? Well, I have and personally I think they are amazing. They work out for people who have to keep a job full time and have the dreams of a college degree, because not everyone can make it to a lecture hall 2 or 3 times a week for lecture. Online classes give you so many opportunities, you can be the mom or dad you want to be, provide for your household, spend quality time with your family, all while you are doing are getting a degree to better yourself. Right now, I am a freshman in college and working part time. Online classes are helping me because when I am getting ready for bed I can crawl into bed, pull out my laptop, and do homework that is due that night or whenever. It gives me the opportunity to keep my job at the hospital and also work on getting a degree for my dream job. In my eyes, online classes are amazing and a true blessing for this world. I know there is a big difference from sitting behind a computer screen and being in a lecture sitting in front of an instructor, but, I believe that the quality is just the same. One major topic going around right now is, is online classes take over and replaces the traditional classroom settings, which are interesting because would we really get rid of all the teachers the United States has? Online classes give more people to opportunity to get the degree that they need or want to better themselves...

...a few different differences and similarities between the small, medium, and large facilities when concerning the organization of patient records, charts and files as well as how they may handle loose reports. I seem to have noticed that most facilities including most small, medium and large facilities prefer that all of their loose records are to be permanently anchored within their patient charts so that they may be able to reduce the risk of those loose reports becoming misplaced and/or lost, which seems to make the most sense to me since this would be the best idea to prevent the loose reports from being misplaced and/or lost. However, the different sizes of facilities tend to organize patient files differently according to each particular facility’s policies. The most popular methods of organization that I have seen include chronologically, form numbers, report type, category and most recent. During my review of the interview threads, I have noticed a lot of similarities and a lot of differences in how patient files are organized between the many facilities which is leading me to believe that every facility has their own system. A system that may work for one facility does not work for another facility, especially when many facilities specialize in different medical areas. A small orthopedic facility may organize their patient’s files by last names where as a large hospital facility may organize their patient’s files by a numerical system they prefer and find to be...

Critical Analysis of the Theories of Management (Classical) as It Pertains to Senior Managers in the Built Environment

...environment. One major area that arose from the Classical School of Thought is productivity and efficiency in the workplace [http://www.cliffnotes.com/study_guide/topicArticleId-8944,articleId-8851.html]. Managers were so much inclined to assign workers to areas that best fitted their expertise. This was in order to increase their productivity and efficiency in their various responsibilities. A facilities services provider, ISS, uses a system that effectively manages its workers and all facets of a worker’s responsibilities by placing the right people in the right positions, based on their qualifications (BOOTY, 2008). This is also evident in Faceo FM UK, according to its Chief Executive, Chris Kenneally. In his words, “Our focus has been on the sustainability of our customers and putting the right people in the right positions to deliver what the client wants, as evidenced in a turnover of £40m of the £250m made by its parent company in France, where the bulk of the business is” (PFM Journal, 2008). Bureaucracy is another important aspect of the Classical School of Thought (DAFT, 2005). Facilities management and Organizing go hand-in-hand, as the former cannot function effectively without the latter. A proper organizational structure gives room for...

Data Tech, Inc Case Study

...Assignment 4: Data Tech, Inc. Case Study BUS 515 August 31, 2012 In the real world of facility management (FM), an overabundance of activities fall under the facility manager’s responsibility, causing common lapses into a rash mode in order to respond to all the requests, orders, regulations, deadlines and demands of the organization. Facility managers know that the need to become more proactive and strategic is important, but finding the point in time to dedicate to strategic planning is often a struggle. Strategic facility planning recognizes that every decision made in business planning has a direct impact on an organization’s real estate assets and needs. The purpose of the SFP plan, therefore, is to develop a flexible and implementable plan based on the specific and unique considerations of the individual business. The company of Data Tech, Inc was started by Jeff Styles. Data Tech is a business that transfers hard copies of documents, such as invoices, bills, or mailing lists, onto CDs (John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 2010). As other companies move to a paperless environment, the placing of data on CDs was the wave of the future. Jeff had started the company in his two-car garage three years earlier by purchasing the essential software and signing of two large corporations as his first customers. At this point, he was about to sign on two additional corporate customers. All of a sudden what was a small garage operation was turning...

They conducted the research to the best of their ability and worked very hard to perfect the research as well as possible. Their merits are thankworthy. ABSTRACT Our research was carried out to investigate the attitude of HUCFL Second- year English students toward the school facility protection and some solutions for school facility maintenance. Due to the important of school facilities in the cause of HUCFL’s education- training and its status quo, we carried out the small- scale research to examine main causes of HUCFL’s facility damage. We delivered 20 questionnaires randomly to the Second – year English students and we thereafter analyzed the data collected from those questionnaires. Based on the research findings, we had the clear understanding about the concerned reality of HUCFL’s school facilities and the close relationship between the lack of students’ awareness and the degraded quality of the facilities. What is more, we realized that the students’ responsibility for protecting the school facilities is the main...
