Research is the investigation of a particular topic using a variety of reliable, scholarly resources. The three major goals of research are establishing facts, analyzing information, and reaching new conclusions. The three main acts of doing research are searching for, reviewing, and evaluating information.
What are the characteristics of a good researcher?
A good researcher will be able to extract relevant information from large amounts of info. Complete research will have a) the core information, or sets of core information, which together answers the question (problem) directly, and b) the contextual information, which determines whether or not the core research is applicable to given circumstances. That is, the research must be relevant!
Good research is that which paints a complete picture, but not so bogged down with detail ast to detract from the overall picture - i.e. the solution to given problem.
The researcher should also be able to convey the research in an accessible format, that is the research must be easy to make use of. This might mean illustrating hundreds and hundres of numbers, for e.g the ages of women working in childcare, into categories of relevance such as the region they live in or their ethnic background, depending on the question being asked.
Types of Research
Quantitative and Qualitative
Quantitative research is the collecting of objective numerical data. Features are classified and counted, and statistical models are constructed to analyze and explain the information that has been gathered. Some of the tools used for this type of research include questionnaires that are given to test subjects, equipment that is used to measure something and databases of existing information. The goal of quantitative research is to compile statistical evidence, so the questionnaires used in this method typically include yes-or-no questions or…...

...Perceptual Mapping of Tourism Management Schools in Davao City Chapter 1 Problem and its Setting Background of the Study According to Lewis, Robert C. & Chambers, Richard E. (2000) first, perceptual mapping can help us identify previously unrecognized issues and attributes of a product and service that lead the customer behaviours. Second, perceptual mapping can help us compare how our products performs against our competitors products.it can also help us to identify which combination of features and benefits are most preferred to our customers. The end results of the analysis in the perceptual map provide a graphic illustration on how the competitor has options compare against each other. Factors Affecting Study Habits of Students

...Every educator must master his/her lesson plan. And everything that a teacher will teach to his student must be based on her own learning and experiences. Every teacher has their own way of providing knowledge to their students. They have their techniques in teaching for the student to better understand everything about their lesson. There are so many factors that affect students’ performance, and it includes the way of how the teachers communicate to their students (Cuevas, 1991). Longman (1996), emphasized that the instructor’s behaviour affects the student’s performance. She stressed that an instructor should try to be fair and impartial to all students. She added that the instructor’s behaviour or attitudes influence the attitudes of the students. For this, an instruction should possess both personal and professional qualities, which are pertinent in classroom setting. The personality of the teacher may affect the academic performance of his student. Whenever teachers do unnecessary things in front of his class, different perception can be form in the mind of his students. The gender of the teacher can be also one of the factors. The physical appearance of the educators and how he or she treats his students can also affect the way of a student. Teachers have an important role in classroom communication, classroom behaviour management, and the achievement of teaching aims. The influence of teacher’s attitudes inside and outside the class on students' academic success......

First Avenue, Highland Park, NJ 08904, 732846-6850 Eileen Stec, Instruction & Outreach Librarian, Douglass Library, Rutgers, New Brunswick, NJ 08901, 848-932-5009 Hannah Kwon, PhD Student, Rutgers SC&I, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 Abstract Despite the considerable attention paid to the need to increase the information literacy of high school students in preparation for the transition to college, poor research skills still seem to be the norm. To gain insight into the problem, library instruction environments of nineteen high schools were explored. The schools were selected based on whether their graduates did well or poorly on information-skills assignments integrated in a required first-year college course. The librarians in the nineteen schools were asked to characterize their working relationships with teachers, estimate their students’ information-literacy achievement, and provide data on their staffing and budgets. Findings suggest that school librarians are seldom in a position to adequately collaborate with teachers and that their opportunities to help students achieve information literacy are limited. Introduction The study reported in this paper was inspired by observations made by students in the Master’s in Library and Information......

Born in Trozo, Manila, Jacinto was the son of Mariano Jacinto and Josefa Dizon. His father died shortly after Jacinto was born, forcing his mother to send him to his uncle, Don José Dizon, so that he might have a better standard of living. Jacinto was fluent in both Spanish and Tagalog, but preferred to speak in Spanish. He attended San Juan de Letran College, and later transferred to the University of Santo Tomas to study law. He did not finish college and, at the age of 20, joined the secret society called Katipunan. He became the advisor on fiscal matters and secretary to Andrés Bonifacio. Jacinto also wrote for the Katipunan newspaper called Kalayaan, which translates to Freedom in Filipino. He wrote in the newspaper under the pen name Dimasilaw, and used the alias Pingkian in the Katipunan.
