Everyone has heard of the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” well that’s the case when it comes to comparing two stories, Fahrenheit 451 and The island sound completely different, but they are alike in so many ways. Characters in both stories are alike, both stories are under authority, and the settings are similar. The characters are alike in many ways; Montage, Lincoln, and Jordan are alike. All three characters realize their surroundings and go against their restrictions. Lincoln and Jordan realize that they are clones and that they are trapped in a facility, and Montage ends up questioning himself from others realizing who he is and where he lives. Also Mac helps the protagonists as mentors, Mac brings Lincoln and Jordan to his home and gives them money (The Island), as Faber helps Montage read, run away, and find his utopia.
Along with that, both stories are under authority, and both stories have routines; Lincoln and Jordan have to wake up, wear the same clothes as every single day, eat, learn, and train the same way everyday (The Island). Montage had a routine of burning books. He used to routinely see his friend Clarisse too. Also since authority was controlling them, they were both being involved in a big chase. Jordan and Lincoln are running from the government and Doctor Merrick (The Island). Where in Fahrenheit 451 Montage runs from the whole town including the cops and Beatty. Furthermore, The Island and Fahrenheit 451 have similar ways in their settings. Both stories are in a world of advanced technology. For example, Lincoln and Jordan ride on a Jet powered bike witch is very technically advanced (The Island), and Montage shows in Fahrenheit 451, that some of his walls make up huge TVs. Also both settings in these two stories are pretty much destroyed. Lincoln destroys his setting by destroying a machine running the facility. Montage’s...

PREFACE Rationale We agreed to produce the instructor’s manual for the sixth edition of A First Look at Communication Theory because it’s a first-rate book and because we enjoy talking and writing about pedagogy. Yet when we recall the discussions we’ve had with colleagues about instructor’s manuals over the years, two unnerving comments stick with us: “I don’t find them much help”; and (even worse) “I never look at them.” And, if the truth be told, we were often the people making such points! With these statements in mind, we have done some serious soul-searching about the texts that so many......

Generally, those journalists do a competent job of reporting on the prospect’s record. In the case of Governor George W. Bush, Texas reporters had written numerous stories about his failed businesses in the oil patch, the dubious land grab and questionable funding behind a new stadium for Bush’s baseball team, the Texas Rangers, and his various political contradictions and hypocrisies while serving in Austin. I was one of those Texas journalists. I spent about a......
