Farenheit 451 Just by watching the first scene of the movie, we get the feeling of dystopia right away. Firemen burning books instead of putting out fires that starts in homes. We all saw the cruelty of how fugitives are being tracked down by mechanical dogs. The government wants to control everyone’s mind in order to stay powerful, they forbid the people from reading or taking part in individual thinking “they want to think for people”. When they see someone reading or taking part in an individual thinking, refusing to let them burn their books, they would just burn them alive with the books.

When looking at our world, we can see that we are heading into the same direction. Some of the similarities between the society in the movie and ours is the government’s dishonesty, the ignorance of the citizens who fully support the government and the important fact that books are becoming rather extinct due to the advances of the technology. For example, the easiest way to get information and knowledge is the internet, in other words the media, have we ever asked ourselves, who controls the media or the internet? Who suggests what we have to know or need to know?

Well back home people are controlled in every step the take, no one is able to think individually, no one is able to share what he thinks if it had any connections to the government especially if it was against the government’s actions or beliefs. They make us do what they want, read what they want and believe what they want. To add on that a lot of books that reach freedom or free thinking are banned. The whole media is controlled by them. They can go through your computer with just pressing a button. They do have technology but they lie to people.
