Family Values It is hard to imagine living day-to-day without the love and support of your family. Every person has a family. What their definition of family is may differ from person to person. Historically family has been defined as a mother and father living together with their children. That definition was changed over the years and currently includes any person young, old, male, or female that loves, supports, and takes care of each other. Families consistent of single parents, same sex parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, adoptive families, and groups of people not related living together. Before a family can work together as a system to promote the health of its members each individual must know and understand what their own individual needs are and take care of them. They must also know what their biases are and not let those opinions interfere with their ability to take care of their family members. Families work as a system in promoting the health of its members by being present in times of need. They must be able to take time out of their lives to help take care of their loved one when they are ill. Each family member must also make a conscious effort in their daily lives to make healthy choices about the way they live. They must eat right, exercise, avoid tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and risky behaviors that can be harmful to them. By modeling these healthy behaviors, family members can set examples for the other members of their family. Another important concept is holding people accountable for their behaviors. They must feel comfortable confronting a family member about their lifestyle choices and explain why they are unhealthy and what other choices could be better.

I believed individual differences, and we have different “plane” from different airport. My goal in life is to live my values with integrity and consciously use my values in decision making towards my action, to discover which path I take because values will guide us on how to spend our time, because time will not renew itself once we spend a day, its gone forever, we waste that day by investing our time in action that don’t produce the result we want and that loss is permanent. We earn money, improve our physical bodies, and repair broken relationship, but we cannot redo yesterday, values will guide our priorities. We appear to be mortal with limited life span. If we value our mortal life then its our goal to invest the best we as can. Since our time is limited, and since it takes time to move along various of “better”, and we cannot do everything at once I have to priority which “plane” are most precious to me. I may not able to land all within the span of my life because I may not probably don’t know how long my lifetime will be nor can I be certain how long it will take to land each “planes” but I realized that the closer I get each “.plane” to its airport, the better that area of my life will be. Family Values

...Family is the greatest gift in life, family in fact is the greatest gift that God has given to human being. Family is where we all belong to and from where our identity comes. A person can be judged from his valued that he has got from his family. We all belong to a family and it is our family that keeps us together through good and bad times. Without a family, no one is complete and the completeness comes with good family bonding. Family is all about pureness, trustworthiness, completeness. By just saying that you live with your family does not hold any values to being a part of the family. Five- six persons living in a house does not become a family. Family is a bond, a long lasting relationship that holds a bond with each other. Who can tell the value of a family then myself. Today I am away from my home for the last 4 months and there is not a single day when I have not missed my family. In fact I want to be honest here, I have never realised the value of a family, when I was with my family I guess most of the times I used to take everyone for granted, but know being away from my family, I know the value of a family. There are many values that one has to learn to get the family bonding in the right manner. Bonding does not happen overnight. It forms with every second, every minute that you spend with your loved ones. The understanding, the acceptance, the belonging and the security all enclosed together is how a family bond is formed. Whenever are in trouble or in...

...as a helper to delve into their own value system and explore how our personal morals may affect the way we approach therapy. In chapter two Corey and Corey discuss various subjects that could incite strong moral attitudes and they encourage self-exploration when different case studies are presented. Family structures are varied and come in a variety of shapes and forms. In this paper I will examine my own views of the family value system and in what ways the different case studies challenge my life view and how I would proceed counseling these patients.   Family Values The family system is diverse and comes in different shapes and forms. Family can be defined as the people with whom we surround ourselves. They are the people who love and support us while we navigate the world. Families are living organisms that change and they require nurturing to keep from dying. Although I do believe that keeping the family unit together is important, I understand that it is not always the best choice for the individuals involved. Traditional families and non-traditional families can equally be as nurturing and loving. The traditional family is no longer the norm. Every circumstance, every family and each individual in that family is going to have a different view and expectation. As a woman and a mother, I approach family issues from that point of view. This view point could play an important role in the way I counsel an individual or a family regarding major changes and decisions...

...FamRunning Head: Family Values Family Values Misti Evans Family Values 01/31/2016 Family Values This assignment was an ethical dilemma. After reading this exercise I was not sure what to do. Looking at my values as well was important in this situation. I know that if I was in this patients loved one's shoes I would want to be treated fairly. I would have empathy with the patients lover because her loved one is critical and may pass away soon. However, I would also respect the family's opinions and concerns as well. Since the patient is unable to make a decision for herself. If the hospital had an ethics committee that is the first step I would make. These decisions can be hard to make and there are many obstacles to overcome. Not all hospitals have an ethics committee and in this case I am assuming there is not one available. After hearing the patients lover's concern and wishes I would as a nurse make the decision to allow her to be with the patient. I am basing this decision off the information I have researched on ethics. According to the ANA nurses have the obligation to provide comprehensive and compassionate end of life care, including comfort, and support of families. The position statement listed in the ANA states that the term “family” includes immediate relatives by blood or marriage, same-sex partners, and any others designated by the patient. So therefore in this case, the patients lover has just as much right as the family. The patients lover has been...

Family Value

...Family Value The meaning of family is different from family to family, unit to unit, and culture to culture. According to DeFrain, Brand, Friesen, and Swanson (2008), “Families are the basic, foundational social units in all human communities around the world, and healthy individuals within families are at the core of a healthy society (para. 4). Families are usually made up of two or more people that love, care, and respect one another. Each member in the family plays a vital role to family functions or goals. When patient comes in the Emergency Room, they do not feel well and want service with a smile. Most times patients can be an advocate for themselves. There are times when it is important to have a family unit there to ask questions, clarifying information, and receive teachings as well to help nurture the patient back to a normal or functional state of health. Family values are defined differently in each unit; they all involve how they will live their lives, to include their culture, spiritual beliefs, and/or tradition. Their values build the family’s structure, functions, attitudes, ideas, and roles. In the emergency room, our goal is to include the family in healthcare decisions, treatments, and education as much as possible, however this is not always possible. Events in the emergency room are fast moving in nature and in the priority of treating and or stabilizing a patient the family can be pushed to the side. The family is a vital part to the success of the...

...Family Values Mary Boman NUR/542 September 10, 2012 Koh Family Values Family nursing is still seen as a fairly new specialty area in nursing. There has been discussion to define what family nursing is and what role family and nursing play in this matter. The consensus is that all definitions have as core concepts the notion of providing nursing care to families and family members (Braun & Foster, 2011). Nurses have realized what an important role that families can play in promoting positive health outcomes by getting them involved in patient care. With that said families are seen in the context as how the nurse sees them and works with them. There are several definitions and concepts of family and they are believed to contribute to education, research and theory. Family Concepts The first concept seen is family as context. The patients care is individually focused and the family is seen as a resource but also can be seen as a stressor. The patient is seen as the primary focus and the nurse includes the family if she sees it to be of value and beneficial to the patient as a resource. In regards to promoting health with this type of nursing the patients family becomes involved if the nurse sees it as a benefit and if so they can help the family and be a good resource for them. The second concept that is seen is family as sum. In this type of nursing the whole family is treated and when they have all been treated then care has been provided. Health promotion has...

That support may be seen directly at the bedside, through conversations via phone, or helping to assist in the discharge process. American Family Values Essay

...Dexter Downlow Professor Miteechur English Comp II February 10, 2015 American Family Values In the article, “Family Values,” Richard Rodriguez states his view on the positive affect of homosexuality on family values in America. He questions the values that the media and politicians claim Americans hold and intrigues the reader to decide whether the United States values the family at all. With the traditional family dynamic changing every day, so does the perspective of right and wrong. The media, however, is quick to defend the sanctity of the stereotypical family and chastises anything that contradicts that ideal. The things one values changes with age and are shaped through personal experience and relationships made throughout life. This individual moral development should be promoted instead of criticized. This country was founded on the idea of individual rights. However, America is always forcing it’s ideals on others. The United States would be a more unified and progressive place if its citizens embraced the idea of tolerance and valued the diversity that make the people of this country great instead of demonizing what doesn’t fit the stereotypical image of the American family. The United States is seen as the “Land of Opportunity.” People have come from all over the world to give their family a chance at the American Dream. This nation was created by people who believed in the idea of a better life for their children. But what is the American Dream and why was...

Family Values and the Meaning of Education

...Name Professor Institution Date Family values and the meaning of education A family is a set up that comprises of parents and children. Families are however based on certain values, mostly introduced by the parents, and that dictate their relationship with not only their children but also interactions between the parents themselves. Since all members in a family share relations in common that are supposed to define them, the beliefs and practises set in a family are expected to accommodate everyone though this doesn`t imply overlooking the odds. Richard Rodriguez opens his essay by presenting himself as a middle-aged man who is confused on how to approach his parents to tell them about his gay personality. He strongly indicates that a family`s believe strongly defines a family. This is evident with the confusion that comes to his mind when he thinks of the correct word to use in such a scenario. He further goes on to give examples of his neighbours to allude to the different meanings of family values in the various countries. Rodriguez presents America as a country where the male gender dominates the female sex. However feminism is seen to be evolving as the role of the mother is seen to be changing. Economic constraints have pushed ladies to no longer stay at home looking after their children but rather join the fathers to bring fourth food on the table. Though in such families the parents expect their children to have a particular social upkeep that maintains morality., the...

Family Values in Australia Today

...Family Values in Australia Today Introduction When family values are invoked, several questions are raised. Does it belong to the right or to the left, in political terms? What is its history? Christian fundamentalists draw on a very particular reading of the Bible and cultural tradition in the West to display their concept of the 'natural family.' Feminist philosophers analyze the symbolic order of Western metaphysics to explain the society’s conception of the family, and the values and expectations the society places on femininity accordingly. Sociologists and other theorists account for the family with reference to social structures and data constantly under review and revision in the West. This paper outlines the current perception of family values. The analysis takes up the question of what the family may (and may not) be today in advanced capitalist countries like Australia, and what might be the political effects of rhetoric of family values. The Current State of Family Values The 21st century has dawned with evolutions and revolutions in the positions of the family in the society. For a long time, the family has been the basic unit of the society. Through the family, empires, and clans have been established with their presence experienced globally. However, the contemporary generation has mixed views on the position of the family. This is as a result of the ambiguity existing in the definition of family resulting to fight...

Cultural Values Of Greek Family

...1.3.2. Culture Turkey and Greece are two neighbor countries who both respect the family unit but at the same time they have different beliefs about the family. The family in Turkey is both the strongest social institution and the foundation that supports the twin pillars of tradition and adaptation (Türkay Asma, 2010). Also, in the majority of the Turkish population, the older sibling plays almost always the “discipliner” role. In Turkish culture, younger siblings must respect the older even if there is an age difference of a single year. If he or she doesn’t obey, immediate punishment is unavoidable. In general, the older brother acts as “father” when he is not at home; this could explain the earlier occurrence of child abuse (Turla, Dündar, & Özkanli., 2010). Parents in Turkey as well as in Greece, are expected to support their children in every way, including financially, during their school years and as they begin their family life. Furthermore, parents expect their adult children to take care of them in old age. Family is central to Greek values and behavior and mutually reinforces each other’s importance. The Greek family is traditional patriarchal family and this is specified in the marriage ceremony. In this ceremony the wife accepts the husband as head of the...
