This is my story, when I once experienced to be as his princess …
But, where is my prince charming now?

“Daryl!” tinignan ko lang siya. Halatang nagulat siya sa ginawa ko.
“What the hell! What did you do?! Bakit mo pinunit ‘to?” pinulot niya isa-isa yung piraso ng papel.
“Do I have to explain? Nabasa mo na ba ‘yang piece of shit? Parang ikaw, you’re a junk!” padabog akong lumabas ng room namin.
Bakit ang mga babae ang weird mag-isip? Napaka hopeless romantic. Too bad for them, walang gamot sa ganun.
Prince Charming, Prince Charming pang nalalaman. Corny talaga.
Tss.
“Come out of the bottle” weird ng name ng libro sino naman kay-
“Shit!” biglang uminit yung bote. Damn it!
Wait. Nasaan yung mga tao? Pati yung librarian wala din. Something’s not right in here teka nananaginip ba-
*Yawn*
“Oh shit!” bigla akong napalingon sa ---
“Hello! ^_^”
“Te-teka!
“I’m Mae Glenda Fe Catubig, nice meeting you Daryl Norman Rexon”
“How come did you know my name!?”
“ Aish pwede ba hindi ako bingi kaya huwag kang sumigaw diyan. Paano ko nalaman name mo? Simple lang” bigla siyang ngumuso pointing to my i.d. ah nabasa niya pala.
“Siguro ikaw nakaiwan netong libro at bote noh?

“What?
“Sakit? Well I don’t care, alisin niyo na siya sa listahan at maghanap ng papalit sa kaniya”
“What?
Tumutunganga pa kayo diyan! go!
Tok tok
“Come in” narinig ko ang pagbukas at pagsara ng pintuan, maging ang ilang hakbang na alam kong papalapit sa akin.
“Daryl Norman” ang boses na yun.
“Anong ginagawa mo dito?” si Ms. Library, I forgot her name.
“Are you kidding me? Ikaw?
1:00 pm
“Okay! basahin mo yung script na nasa folder then in 5 minutes saka mo sabihin yan without reading the copy. Jerome, get in your position” nakangiti siya habang binabasa yung script, hindi kay magmukhang baliw yung female lead character just in case makuha niya yung role?
“On cue!
Psh.
“So Daryl.
Haha!
Hehe, ui sige una na ako ha? kita na lang tayo somewhere” she leaned closer hanggang sa mahalikan niya ako sa pisngi and after that they left.
Hindi ka pa din nagbabago, Andrea.
“HUY!!”
“Oh shit!”

Fantasy

...Fantasy Some people believe that fantasy is dangerous for children to read, and some people have a completely different opinion. According to Ursula Le Guin, fantasy is not just for children, but for adults too, “Tales of talking animals and fantastical adventure aren’t just for children, argues Ursula Le Guin – we can and should return to them throughout our lives” (Quote page 1 line 1-3). Right from the beginning you know that ULG is a fan of fantasy being a part of everyone’s lives. You can always use your child or grandchild as an excuse to read fantasy, if you don’t have the courage to do it by yourself. Fantasy has always been perceived as being for children only, and fantasy has been conflated with immaturity, which according to ULG is a rather sizeable error. Many of the texts are poetry and it contains different elements from different genres. Many fantasies which actually were published as for children, is often read by adults, “It begins with, say, George MacDonald’s At the Back of the North Wind and runs on through Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, The Wind in the Willows, the Just So Stories and The Jungle Book, the Pooh books, Dr Dolittle, The Hobbit, The Once and Future King, Charlotte’s Web, to my first three Earthsea books and all the serious imaginative fiction that continues to be published “for children” but is often read by adults” (Quote page 2 line 48-52). Realistic fiction does not affect everyone, but only people in...

Feeding on Fantasy

...Feeding on Fantasy The article “Feeding on Fantasy”- by Lev Grossman, is about the peoples passion for fantasy, which, in his head, is taking over the world of science fiction. The way he’s writing is neither critical nor real passionate. I wouldn’t say Mr Grossman is a real fantasy lover he knows his stuff and is using a lot of facts, but I’m more sure that he doesn’t like science fiction and in that way fantasy isn’t that bad to him. He’s not really into the whole Blizzard1 world, but he still somehow finds it exciting in a mysterious way. He says, “The business of fantasy has become a multibillion-dollar reality, and science fiction is starting to feel, well, a little 20th century.” The “well” in the sentence is clearly a sarcastic way of harassing science fiction, which also clears my statement that he has nothing left for the “so last year” –fashioned genre. This text is referring to that people in these years are tired of the sci-fi (the feature) world, so we are starting to go back and living this vision we have about the past, and we add these incredible creatures to it, that doesn’t exist, so that we can dream about these wonderful landscapes where the sun is always shinning, this passion about this everlasting love between the marvellous man winning his dream girls heart after a rough, very long and extremely dangerous trip crossing the country to defeat the monster who’s keeping them from being together, and this huge gap between being rich and poor and how God always...

Western children’s fantasy literature has a much earlier development process. In Ancient Greece and Rome, there was no distinction between children and adult’s literature, children and adults shared the same literature. Until the 18th century, a remarkable French philosopher, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, believed that every child has a unique value and children should not be seen as immature adults. Persuasive Essay Against Fantasy Sports

...Is fantasy football gambling? This is a debate that has been ongoing over the past couple years, as more states try and profit from this booming industry. It is important to understand the premise of this debate and what sports betting or gambling actually is. Webster defines gambling as “playing games for the chance of winning money”, however, I will argue that fantasy football is a game of skill and not a game of chance and therefore should not be subject to the typical sanctions and regulations that are placed upon sports betting. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, states that in order for a fantasy sports to be legal it must follow predefined rules. I will cover these stipulations in depth and demonstrated how each...

The Birth of Fantasy Football by Luke Esser

...In 1962 the founding fathers of fantasy football created a game that today inspires, infatuates and confounds millions of players. After a seemingly endless night of labor pains, the discomfort soothed by a little alcohol for medicinal purposes, the birth of fantasy football finally took place at a hotel in New York City back in the fall of 1962. History does not record the exact date of birth, but it occurred in obscurity sometime within a dozen days of Halloween that year. America can be forgiven for not noticing at the time, since a little distraction called the Cuban missile crisis had nearly thrust the world into nuclear war in the last week of October. Now approaching its 32nd birthday, fantasy football was born of three fathers -- the founding fathers of a game that slowly matured into the sports colossus that today inspires, infatuates and confounds millions of players. At first glance, 1962 may not seem such a long time ago. American Graffiti offers a snapshot of that era, nostalgically asking the question, "Where were you in '62?" But it was the dark ages in football years. We're not simply talking about a time far enough back that the Raiders still played in Oakland. We're talking about a time so distant, so remote, that the Raiders played in Oakland and were absolutely terrible. Our three founding fathers went on a road trip back East with those terrible 1-13 Raiders, a trip worth remembering only because of the bundle of joy that came bawling into the...

“the Reality of Fantasy—There’s a Little Panic in Every Pick”

...decide. Nine, eight, seven…” These are the thoughts going through Aaron’s mind as he sits in front of his computer contemplating which of the two players is better to draft for his fantasy baseball team. If you have ever fanaticized about what it would be like to manage your own team of professional players and compete with your peers, fantasy sports is the hobby for you. Fantasy sports is a social epidemic that has been on the rise for many years and will continue to inflate for a long period of time. According to encyclopedian.com, a fantasy sport “is a game where fantasy owners build a team that competes against other fantasy owners based on the statistics generated by individual players or teams of a professional sport” (Truesdale). There is also the ability to trade, cut, and sign players, just like a real sports team owner. Some players who are very knowledgeable of the sport play for money, whereas some players like me play for fun on websites that host the game for free. Being part of the fantasy sports league motivated me to closely follow and watch how my drafted players perform. My knowledge of sports now is far greater than when I didn’t participate in fantasy sports. Watching sports news channels and discussing the latest updates with my brothers helped me to be able to manage my fantasy team well. During my free time, I would search for latest gossip on sports on a website called RealGM.com. It told me all the players who were performing well and those who were...

Robin Hobb’s Assassin’s Apprentice and the Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien Conformity to the Genre of Fantasy

...conform to the conventions of the fantasy genre in a number of ways. The main elements of fantasy are discussed in relation to the two texts, with examples provided. This essay will discuss several of the core characteristics of fantasy literature, including the concepts of magic, otherworlds, good vs. evil, heroism, special character types and talking animals. These characteristics of literature are all identified in the two texts, Assassin’s Apprentice by Hobb and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. Fantasy, as a genre of literature, is a story or series of stories, which exhibits certain definable elements that make the plot unreal and challenge the reader to suspend disbelief. There are many of these unreal elements, which feature in the fantasy genre. These unreal elements vary from mythical beasts roaming an imagined world to Earth-like natural settings in which animals take on human characteristics. There are also clearly recognizable conventions of fantasy, such as toys coming to life, miniature humans, magical powers, and time-warp stories. A fantasy novel would usually encompass more than one of these unreal elements. However, a fantasy story needs to possess only one of these unreal features in order to be classified as a part of the fantasy genre. Put simply, a fantasy story is one with at least one element that cannot be found in the human world. Magic is the most basic element of fantasy; magic is what draws a reader to fantasy. Magic involves charms, spells or rituals...

Final Fantasy Captures Lara Croft: Acquisitions and Alliances in Electronic Games

...FINAL FANTASY CAPTURES LARA CROFT: ACQUISITIONS AND ALLIANCES IN ELECTRONIC GAMES Square Enix chose to make alliance in some occasions and acquisitions in others depending upon the needs and the situation of the game developer company. It is based on the environmental conditions in which the CEO thinks will work for the company best. In the presence of a stiff competition, it is a high urgency to expand since Square Enix’s goals could not be reached by focusing only in the current market. The easiest and better way is by acquisition. It’s not difficult to take control an acquired entity unlike in alliances. Acquisition of British Eidos Group Company enables Square to expand market internationally. In the other hand, valuation for acquisition on tangible asset like Eidos Group studio is easy. Moreover, it expands more markets outside Japan. Because of high level of uncertainty present in the new markets for instance in the US, it’s wiser to make ally with a stronger partner than to acquire the company and take the whole risk. Through this, Square may possibly attract and expand a new market with more confidence. Square Enix can also benefit by having access to different game markets from the allied companies. Depending upon the situation, sometimes acquisition let companies gain a wider access to geographical markets greater than alliance or do-it-yourself strategy. In some other instances alliance enables companies to share the potential risk and minimizes any chances...

Fantasy

...Discussion: In text c ”Fantasy IS escapism, but wait…” told by ”Terry Pratchett”, the view on fantasy is that it’s a kind of escape from the real world. As he said, its purpose is to take our commonplace world lift it up and turn it around, and show it to us from a different perspective, so that “once again” we see it for the first time and see how marvelous it is. Pratchett also says that there is a lot of rubbish produced for kids in order to get them to buy the merchandising. But maybe we are just doing it to avoid confronting the realities the rest of the world deals with daily, or to numb ourselves from conscious recognition of what we are doing to ourselves, and to life on this planet. Nevertheless it could just be because we like to see new things, many people, just like me are fascinated when they hear about wizards, dragons, trolls and a new world where almost everything is possible. Of course most people especially the children would get curious when they hear about for example dragons that can spit fire or wizards that can dos some kind of magic. I personally think that fantasy can be good for the kids, I especially for their imagination, their imagination will be unrestricted by reality. On the other side some young children are often viewed as being unable to differentiate fantasy from reality. However i have never heard of evidence saying that fantasy is therapeutic or that children use fantastic literature to "work out their problems" or as "an escape" from...

The Familiar

...The Familiar In this essay, “The Familiar” by Andre Norton will focused on the relationship between the main character, Fossi and Jeseca. The focus will be on, how it develops from a relation with the toy with trust, to become a relation based on friendship and I will examine the fantasy elements and why is makes this short story to a fantasy story. “I exerted the invisible bond, we shared and she hugged me tightly against her breast” The relationship between Fossi and Jeseca from the start based on trust because Jesaca do not know that Fossi is a real cat, only that he is a stuffed toy. The relationship changes fast to a friendship because Fossi is taking care of Jeseca “Jeseca gave a cry of pain and flung the hilt from her a though of had suddenly become too hot to hold”. In this quote make Fossi the knife too hot to hold because he do not want Jeseca to kill, but still he wants to see Jesaca used his power. . Fossi can control with Jeseca “As though controlled by the strings of a dance-doll, her right arm lifted until it pointed to blank barrier before us” and mental can Fossi also control with Jeseca “ My familiar had trown back the lid of the massive chest that stood on that corridor. Now she knelt and reached in, stripping away the layers of cloth stored until she came to the cloak that had been folded over me. A moment later she brought my forth. ...hill towards a volcano this is a big turning point. This was because he used to be a skater; he was rediscovering is old self. This image encouraged by the green hills in the background and the happy music playing. In this scene he is not wearing a suit and tie as he was in the beginning of the film; he was wearing camo green pants and a long sleeved T-shirt. As the movie progresses his clothing becomes more colorful and rugged, so does his face, at the start of the movie he was freshly shaved but now he has a beard, this is a metaphor for the internal changes he is experiencing. Secondly another journey is to go from fear to confidence. He was helped to face his fears by Cheryl singing Major Tom as he is in the bar. Even though it was a fantasy it helped him get on the helicopter and go where he needed to go. From this point he faced his fears by jumping out of a helicopter into the ocean, getting attacked by a shark and running away from the volcano. All of...

“Game of Thrones” – Essay

...points of the two articles. “Game of Thrones” is a medieval fantasy TV-series that premiered on HBO back in 2011. It’s an adaption of the book-series “A Song of Ice and Fire” written by George R. R. Martin. Since it’s beginning it has gained a lot of attention, success and controversy all around the world. Its popularity has increased extremely throughout the years. The series has obtained a broad and active fan base, and many people became fans immediately after the first episode. From the start it quickly caused controversy due to its use of sexual explicit- and violent scenes. Some people claimed the show to be too dominated by men being the ‘strongest’ gender, and also the amount of explicit material. Claiming that it wasn’t really suitable nor appealing to women. Although the controversy, the series still received acclaim by critics and viewers. For this task I’ve dealt with two very different reviews. Reviewing the first episode of “Game of Thrones”, the two writers each has their own perception of the series and its content. First off we have a review from 2011 written by Ginia Bellafante. It’s called “A fantasy world of strange feuding kingdoms” , and was widely criticized back then. Her main point was that women only could watch a complex fantasy series, if it contained sexual explicit scenes like ‘Game of Thrones’. Sexual scenes should therefore be the only motivation for women to watch a fantasy series, according to Ginia. Her opinion was, as mentioned before...
