She talks about growing up on a farm and what is involved in the day to day activities as told from her perspective. She goes on to tell about work-life balance and how difficult it can be to manage your time. Towards the end she explains how growing up on a farm taught her to be hard working, responsible, and humble. I believe her intent is to show that hard work and determination pay off favorably. Early in the essay the writer explains how she could not be involved socially at school because of her chores. Once she was finally allowed to join the basketball team, she learned time management skills because she was still responsible for doing her chores.
