Farrow Partnership is an international architectural firm located in Toronto, Canada that specializes in architecture, sustainability, brand building, and master planning and visioning. The firm’s main purpose is to “cause health by creating places where we thrive through a process of co-creation in order to expand possibilities” and they have developed a reputation for designing places where individuals can progress mentally, physically, culturally are economically. In the field of design, the term “health” typically conjures thoughts of hospitals and clinics even though “health is not a building typology”. How does it make me feel?’” There are five vital signs that he believes healthy spaces are composed of: variety, nature, authenticity, vitality, and legacy. Variety is based around the idea of buildings being unique in communicating the identity of organizations; Nature is important because references to things that are a part of the natural world is important to humans and has been proven to affect health; Authenticity means desigining by drawing from things we know or have seen such as culture and history; Vitality means designing spaces that come alive and really activate the community; Legacy means designing spaces that make longstanding contributions.
