My favorite Holiday.

Of all the holidays throughout the year, New Year’s Eve is by far my favorite. I like New Year’s Eve because I always get travel to my hometown in Casablanca, Morocco for a week or two. Therefore I get to spend time with my big family which includes my grandparents, my parents, my aunts, uncles and cousins. We get to share an amazing time together and welcome a great a new year. What better way to celebrate New Year’s Eve than to celebrate it with the ones you love.

First of all, my grand-mother cooks the best Moroccan and French food on that special day, she usually makes a big buffet to feed everyone in my big family. She always cooks a couscous which is a traditional Moroccan plate that consists of semolina (tiny granules of wheat) which is cooked by steaming and served with meat and vegetables spooned over it. The second best traditional plate is Mechoui which is lamb roasted on a barbecue, really delicious.
And for the French cuisine she makes the best fondue in the world which consist of different types of cheeses melted together and eaten by dipping long forks with bread. She also makes a plate of different types of cheeses like “fromage bleu” which is blue cheese, Camembert, Brie and she adds on a little bit of “Pate de froie gras” which is French for fat liver, it is made of the liver of a duck or a goose that has been specially fattened. Then, next to that plate you will find a basket of French baguette. And, for the fish lovers she makes this exquisite plate of fresh salmon with sour cream and mushrooms, then next to it you will find fresh oysters, clams and mussels. The mussels are my favorite. She cooks them in this special sauce with white wine, herbs and sour cream. For desert she makes “crème brulee” and a “mousse au chocolat”. For the drinks menu she has a full bar of anything you would like from champagne, wine and soft drinks.

So while my grand-mother takes care of our taste buds. My cousins and I usually take care of the artistic part which is decorating. We dress my grandparent’s big house with balloons, confetti and New Year hats and much more. My mother and my aunts try to help my grand-mother with the kitchen. My dad, Grand-father and uncles usually barbeque or they just sit outside in the garden and drink beer or wine while they have multiple conversations about the kids and wives.
Then when it hits 6PM or so everyone goes to get ready and wear their beautiful dresses and suits. Then we gather around in the living room or if it is not too cold we have the party outside in the garden next to the pool. We usually have music on and some of us are dancing and the rest is just chatting about what happened throughout the year. Everyone is having an amazing time. Then around 9:30PM all the girls go to the kitchen to help serve all the beautiful dishes that grandma made. We put them on a long buffet table, then everyone gathers for a feast. Dinner lasts for few hours. Then my cousins and I distribute all the hats because it is time to count the seconds until midnight to celebrate the beautiful upcoming New Year. Everyone is shouting “Happy New Year!” or as we say in French “Bonne Annee!”. Everybody is kissing and hugging each other while you can see the joy and excitement in their faces, and that is what makes that moment so special to me. The fact that I can see everyone that I love so happy makes it the best holiday that I have ever experienced. I cannot wait for 2014 to come!

Pros And Cons Of Memorial Day Travel

...Many airlines, hotels, and travel sites post deals via social media for holiday weekends. Now is the time to search for Memorial Day travel deals. “With airfares, there are just fewer and fewer sales, but often airlines will post last-minute sales on Twitter,” Frommer said. Murphy agreed, but said you have to “act fast, [the deals] disappear quick as they come.” Some of my personal favorite travel sites are Travelocity and CheaptTickets because they usually have package deals on both flights and accommodation. However, there are also some travel sites that specialize in last minute travel deals for cheaper than most people might assume. Lastminute.com, Airfarewatchdog, and Booking.com will help you search airlines to check availability and costs for this Memorial...

Auto Navigation Systems Are for Work

...Auto Navigation Systems are for Work, Play, and Everything in Between Back in the dark ages, it was nearly impossible to navigate the shark-infested waters of Main Street or big city USA without the assistance of a road map or some other major navigational aid. Back then if you found yourself lost you either had to stop and ask for directions at a convenience store along the way or drive along until you found a payphone you could use in order to call for better directions. This process became a little easier once cell phones became prominent and affordable to the masses. Today it has become even better if you can believe it. Gone are the days when you drove around in circles hoping to find a place to stop and get directions to take you back to the beaten path before your gas tank uses the last of its fumes. Now you can simply use GPS tracking to find out where you are and then get directions to the nearest destination of choice or simply find your way back towards your destination. You can actually go on vacation now without taking a massive road atlas or a half dozen maps of a half dozen states along for the ride. Gone are the days of needing a tour guide in order to fold your maps back into their former positions. Vacations are now much more relaxed as a result of the lack of stress involved in merely getting there. Not only is getting there easier with the use of auto navigation systems, but getting around once you reach your vacation destination is much easier to...

How I Spend My Summer Holidays

...Vacations are the best time to relax and enjoy and I eagerly wait for my summer vacations every year. Every year my school closes in the middle of the month of May and reopens by the end of June. Annual exams get over and the results are declared. This time I got promoted to class nine from class eight. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends. It was a very hot and sunny day so we decided to play indoor games. In the evening I asked my father and mother to take me to any of the hill stations because I wanted to beat the heat. My father told me that we cannot go to a hill station because all the hotels and resorts are booked beforehand only. It was too hot, the sun was scorching and the wind was deliberating. Fortunately my uncle had invited my family to Haridwar where he had reached two weeks earlier. Me and my parents reached Haridwar. My uncle, my aunty and my cousins were all very excited to see all of us. They welcomed us with a warm heart. At Haridwar I went to the bank of River Ganga in the morning and it was very pleasant to see hundreds of men and women bathing in the stream of Ganga and then offering prayers in the different temples of its “Ghats”. I requested my uncle to take us to the hilly spots in the vicinity. He was kind enough to take all of us there. The hill sights of Laxmi jhoola, Swargashram and many...

Or at least there had actually been a few, but not any one that I could see myself being with. When the clock was twelve we went into town, happy that we had summer vacation and then we arrived the disco we started to go crazy on the dance floor, and even here I could feel how all the boys looked at me. It was great with attention from all the boys. I felt really special and hot. After a while, I got very sweaty, sow I went outside to get some fresh air. Compare and Contrast Essay

...Bruna DaSilva ENG 071, Basic Writing Fall 2012 Compare and Contrast Essay Professor Arthur Harris People are always looking for their vacation time. There are many places to chose. The places people choose to take a vacation are the beaches and the mountains in my opinion. Both places can offer fun activities. The beach has activities the mountain cannot give, and the mountain has activities the beach do not. The mountain and the beach are very different. Climate is very important to enjoy any vacation. If someone does not like cold weather, she might have a hard time in the mountains. The cold climate in mountains is the first thing to enjoy it, and the climate also determines the type of activity it offers. Snow boarding, mountain climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing are some activities that people can enjoy when they go to the mountains. There are many places that have mountains where people can go and have a great time. Canada is a country that has many mountains where people can go and have fun. Warm climate is one of the most important thing that the beach has. Sun and fun are two things that can describe the beach. The sea and the warm climate determine activities at the beach. People can swim, play volleyball, play soccer, etc. At many beaches, there are discos and restaurants where people can dance or party at night. Mexico has many beautiful beaches to visit. Driving Vs Driving Research Paper

...Driving vs. Flying Imagine riding in a car with a best friend and her family to a vacation destination: the endless conversations about anything and everything, napping all day, and eating at new places every night. Also imagine soaring thousands of feet in the air, while relaxing and watching a movie either on a phone or on the back of the seat in front of you. Though there are similarities, the differences between flying and driving are striking. Both driving and flying to vacation have expenses. When looking at the costs for driving, there is the cost of gas, hotel rooms, food, and wear and tear on the car. I have gone on vacation with my closest friend and her family for many years. On all of the trips we have been on, we have driven to them all. On average, we stop for gas about one to two times a day and that alone can cost $50 each stop. Some people who go on vacation may drive straight to their destinations without stopping to rest at night. If not, the cost of the hotel rooms can add up quickly. If people decide to drive to their vacation destination, it may take a couple days, so there will be several more meals to pay for. While being on the road, one cannot have homecooked meals, so it forces people to eat out. All of these costs add up, therefore it gets expensive to drive to vacation destinations. On the other hand, flying to vacation can have its costs also. There is the cost of airfare, which can be very expensive. One person flying from Milwaukee...
