How to balance Love and Studies

...Abstract of Payroll system Payroll software can be used to speed up the process of calculating pay, ensuring that payments are both accurate and on time. They save you the burden of learning and understanding complex payroll legislation. Trouble free payroll processing is a critical need of any business. Payroll software completes payroll calculations within a fraction of the time it would take to do them manually, whilst your payroll staff might not like it, it makes perfect sense if you are trying to run a business. Another huge advantage of running payroll software over a manual process is in the reporting, most systems allow, weekly, month and annually required reports to be run at the press of a button. Instead of shuffling through endless files let the software do the work. It possible with a lot of payroll software to integrate with your time sheet systems that record employee attendance or time worked. It a simple way for information about employee hours worked to be transferred into the payroll system removing yet another layer of manual processing. Some companies choose to operate a swipe card door system whilst many others operate on a system login basis. Payroll software also provides the capability of "what-if" calculations. This helps in forecasting and planning staff costs and budgets. Entering hypothetical numbers allow you to compare the exact total cost of an employee under different remuneration scenarios. Some payroll systems also allow more personnel...

...16 GfK MIR / Vol. 3, No. 1, 2011 / New Theories { New Theories } GO O D D EA L ! / / / Targeting central people in the network gives more leverage to sales calls. New Theories / Vol. 3, No. 1, 2011 / GfK MIR 17 HOW SOCIAL NETWORKS AND OPINION LEADERS AFFECT THE ADOPTION OF NEW PRODUCTS Raghuram Iyengar, Christophe Van den Bulte, John Eichert, Bruce West, and Thomas W. Valente Do word-of-mouth and other peer influence processes really affect how quickly people adopt a new product? Can one identify the most influential customers and hence those who are good seeding points for a word-of-mouth marketing campaign? Can one also identify those customers most likely to be influenced by their peers? A pharmaceutical company seeking to improve its marketing effectiveness by leveraging social dynamics among physicians set out to answer these questions. There is indeed evidence of social influence, even after controlling for sales calls and individual characteristics. Also, people who are central in the network and those who use the product intensively are more influential. Finally, people who view themselves as opinion leaders are less affected by peer influence, whereas people who others really turn to for information or advice are not differentially affected. This last finding suggests that self-reported opinion leadership captures self-confidence, whereas a central position in the social network captures true leadership. Since sociometric techniques identify true opinion leaders...

...Day 1: Had my first day today and it was very interesting. First I had an orientation where we went over general guidelines for interns at Viacom and then we signed some paperwork. Played some icebreaker games and got a crash course in all the entities that Viacom owns such as MTV, MTV2, VH1, Comedy Central, CMT, BET. After I met with JC, one of the research analysts for MTV and I got a tour of where I was working and met fellow employees and met my supervisor Mitchell. I then attended a meeting with the research, programming and creative insight teams where we discussed millennials (people aged 15-30) and their media consumption. We watched clips about certain shows that were going to be aired and whether or not millennials would watch these shows. We also discussed other areas regarding media consumption. Day 2: I arrived early to work to start learning. The more the better in my opinion. I got acclimated at my desk and started learning the basics. I got a crash course in MTV and ratings since I am in intern in the research and strategic insights department. Then I attended a focus group regarding upcoming MTV events and gave input regarding the specific topics. Got acclimated with startrak, the system in which MTV/MTV 2 pulls ratings. Day 3: got acclimated with startrak even more. Learned some of the more difficult tasks associated with it. I learned how to pull the ratings for MTV and checked ratings that my supervisors JC, Cara, and Mitchell create. Basically its just...

...David Hume was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to a proud family of moderate means. He was educated in Britain, and moved to France at age 23 to write his first novel. He hoped the book would sell well, inspire a generation of new thought, and make him rich. It was titled A Treatise of Human Nature, and Hume had difficulty finding a publisher who would print the manuscript. As with many geniuses, Hume encountered much discouragement before his ideas were accepted. When the Treatise finally appeared in 1738, it "fell dead-born from the press" (in Hume's own words). Not only was the book a terrible seller, it failed even to achieve Hume's goal of challenging traditional thought. The religious zealots who were supposed to have been so offended by his ideas had never even heard of them. Hume eventually re-published his Treatise in the form of two Enquiries, An Enquiry Concerning the Human Understanding (1748) and An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals (1751). These helped spread his ideas and fame, although it is the republished and complete Treatise that I will focus on. The system of ideas outlined therein, with an included essay specifically on Self, will be enough to explore Hume's thoughts on the subject. Hume's theory of knowledge taught that "accurate and just reasoning...is alone able to subvert that abstruse philosophy and metaphysical jargon, which, being mixed up with popular superstition, renders it in a manner impenetrable to careless reasoners, and gives it the...

...Case Study Counter urbanisation in St Ives, Cambridgeshire St Ives is a small town in Cambridgeshire, about 200km north of London. It lies on the A1123, 8km east of Huntingdon and 25km north-west of Cambridge, just off the A14 trunk road. The town is close to both the A1 trunk road and the main east coast railway line. Regular trains to London make the area accessible. St Ives is a picturesque town on the Great Ouse. It has a narrow six-arched bridge with a central chapel that was built in the 15th Century. The town has connections with Oliver Cromwell and his statue stands in the market place. There are also splendid buildings, including the Corn Exchange and All Saints Church. The building styles contribute to the character of the place and add to the attraction of living there. The surrounding rural area is mainly farmland. However, in recent years there have been many housing developments on the periphery (edge) of the town. A substantial number of exclusive apartments have also been built in the heart of the town, particularly on the south bank of the Great Ouse. Changing population and prosperity The population structure of the town is changing. One section of the community is ageing, but another is becoming more youthful. A large proportion of the working population is now employed outside of town. There has been an influx of commuters from in and around London. Housing in the area is affordable and there has been a boom in demand for property. People in...
