Week 4 – Assignments from the Readings
Chapter 14: Problem 14.9
Evaluate the proposed relaxation, and make a recommendation to the firm. (Note: Assume a 365-day year.)
To determine whether to relax its credit standards, Lewis Enterprises must calculate its effect on the firm’s additional profit contribution from sales, the cost of the marginal investment in accounts receivable, and the cost of marginal bad debts.
Additional Profit Contribution from Sales
Sales are expected to increase by 10%, or 1,000 units. The profit contribution per unit will equal the difference between the sale price per unit ($40) and the variable cost per unit ($31). The profit contribution per unit therefore will be $9. The total additional profit contribution from sales will be $9,000 (1,000 units x $9 per unit).

...Individual Paper - Assignments from the readings In this short essay I will try to explain Limited Liability Corporation and partnerships. I will also try to put in perspective if I were to establish my own business what would I choose and why would I choose one over the other. In order to explain this we must first know what is Limited Liability Corporation and liability partnership. According to smallbusiness.chron.com a liability corporation or company is LLC owners, called "members," can manage their businesses or hire professional managers. In addition, LLCs enjoy a lot of flexibility. For instance, they can have as many members as they like, and corporations are allowed to be members. LLCs enjoy freedom from the state-mandated membership and management reporting requirements that corporations have. Most important, LLCs do not have to pay taxes. Instead, their profits and losses are passed through to their members' individual tax returns in the same way as a partnership. As a result, members enjoy the advantages of avoiding the "double taxation" of corporations as well as receiving tax relief from the poor performance of their LLCs. Also according to smallbusiness.chron.com a liability partnership is LLPs have the same tax advantages of LLCs. They cannot, however, have corporations as owners. Perhaps the most significant difference between LLCs and LLPs is that LLPs must have at least one managing partner who bears liability for the partnership's actions. With an...

...Week 4 Individual Assignment Erwin O. Raymer III PSY/315 Jan. 13th 2014 Jennifer Lapin Week 4 Individual Assignment The five steps of hypothesis testing consist of the following. Restate the question as a research hypothesis and a null hypothesis. This is where an individual would make a research hypothesis, which is basically a prediction intended to be tested in a research study. This prediction is usually based on the researcher’s theory. A null hypothesis is the opposite of the research hypothesis. If the null hypothesis is found to be true then it is not possible for the research hypothesis to be relevant. Same goes for if the research hypothesis is true then the null hypothesis is unable to be relevant as well. Determine the characteristics of the comparison distribution. In the hypothesis testing process you want to find out the probability that you could have a sample score as extreme as what you got if your sample was from a population with a distribution of the sort you would have if the null hypothesis were true. That is in the hypothesis testing process, you compare the actual samples score to this comparison distribution. Determine the cut off sample score on the comparison distribution at which the null hypothesis should be rejected. (Critical value) Ideally, before conducting a study, researchers set a target against which they will compare their results. How extreme a sample score they would need to decide......

...potential investors if our investment portfolio is diversified. Diversification is an important part of our investment strategy and to meet that objective we have chosen to include stock from: Desktop Inc. - the largest worldwide distributor of office products. Levinthal Defense System’s- a defense systems manufacturer whose biggest client is the US government. Transconduit, Inc. - who is the leading designer of silicon technology transport. Goldstein & Delaney Bank- A full service bank with an extensive branch network. Quality of the choices made Of the four choices that we decided to include in our corporate portfolio they all turned out to be good solid choices, which was demonstrated during the economic downturn. The noticeable misstep is the fact that we included two technology companies (Transconduit and Desktop Inc.) which is probably not the best choice. Because technology companies are usually the first to recover after an economic downturn has stabilized our portfolio was able to recover well. The effects of the economic downturn were minimized by the inclusion of stocks such as Levinthal Defense System’s and Goldstein & Delaney Bank. Historically during times of economic downturn there has been increased military activity which translates into increased defense spending. (4) Overall we made some great choices, however there was room still left for additional diversification in our portfolio. The Sharpe Ratio Utilizing the Sharpe ratio allowed us......
