How Internet Marketing Works

Figure [ 1 ]
Figure [ 1 ]
Marketing is about communicating the value of a product, service or brand to customers or consumers for the purpose of promoting or selling that product, service, or brand. The internet creates the perfect platform to accomplish this. As the illustration simply shows, the internet has a few different marketing opportunity routes. The logical thing to create first would be a reputable company website. A website that is interactive with users, but also very user friendly, allowing users to have a pleasant visit experience that proved to be informative and beneficial. After our company website is operational, we can move on to other internet marketing tools such as search engine optimization, social media optimization, email marketing, and of course, consumer reviews. Consumer reviews can be extremely beneficial, but can also be extremely harmful. Consumer reviews will be further discussed.

The Pros to Internet Marketing

Figure [ 2 ]
Figure [ 2 ]
Since the internet is has a plethora of ways to create revenue, let check out a few. There are many strategies that can help any business with the help of the internet platform. Wikipedia defines social media as all online tools and platforms that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other. Susan Lincoln, author of Mastering Web 2.0 explains the most important pro like this; “The social web is a place where people with common interests gather to share thoughts and comments. Importantly, social media holds increasing sway over the public opinion.” (Lincoln, 2009 pg. 9)
Let take a look at some of the ways Social Media can prove to be beneficial. Social media gives companies the opportunity to feed their advertisements to people. These advertisements can appeal to a user’s certain likings or lifestyle. These types of ads can really affect a company’s publicity and sales in a positive way. Like Susan Lincoln said in her book, these advertisements or social media ads can sway the public opinion on a company and how dependable and official their company website looks.
The Pros to Internet Marketing
Figure [ 3 ]
Figure [ 3 ]

Figure [ 4 ]
Figure [ 4 ] First let’s examine PPC, or pay per click. This basically is more of a way to generate user traffic to your company website or even directly to products. A budget is created with a search engine, (i.e. Google, Bing). In a PPC campaign, you pay Google however much you wish to have them list ads for your site at the top and right of the organic search listings. When someone clicks on your add, you pay the current Cost Per Click (CPC) from your budget. Once your entire budget has been depleted, Google ceases to run your ads until you replenish your fund. The goal is to be advertised to the user first, and not on the later pages of a user’s search results. This will create familiarity for users and increase traffic. (Google, 2010)
Once user traffic is generated, the company’s website will now become increasingly popular overtime, allowing more products, information, and services to be solicited. Depending on what the purpose of a company’s website is will determine what strategy to utilization when it comes to monetization.

The Cons to Internet Marketing

Social Media:
On the flip side, social media users can make harsh remarks or even bash local business or any business about their service. These remarks can affect a business’s reputation.

Web Reviews:
Most websites have review sections where users can describe their experience with a certain company. These reviews can affect a company in a negative way. It’s best to always provide awesome service no matter what. With the internet the way it is now, the power is in the people’s hands.

Bad Advertisement:
Figure [ 7 ]
Figure [ 7 ]
Audience is always something to consider when dealing with internet marketing. You don't want to sell ad space to an advertiser that might put a banner ad that's inappropriate. You always want to preview their ad before you just let them put it on your site. Pop-ups can also deter users. They can be very annoying and distract users from the company’s website.

Three Successful Strategies to Webpage Monetization:

Affiliate Marketing:
Affiliate marketing is a very popular way to make money through a website. Basically, a company would sell or recommend another company’s products on your website. When a user clicks on the affiliate link and buys the product – we receive a commission. Typically the commission is usually 30% – 70% of the product or service price.

Selling Ad Space:
Selling advertising space is a simple strategy that utilizes the company’s website traffic to generate revenue. The easiest way to do it is to join a banner ad network, which will recruit advertisers, keep track of your earnings, and control banner ad placement on your site. In exchange for these services, the network will take a percentage of the advertising money generated by your ad space.

NOTE: Audience is important. Selling ad space to an advertiser that might put an advertisement that's inappropriate could deter users. It is best to preview their ad before it is displayed.

Selling Company Product / Online Store:
There are many e-commerce websites on the Internet. You can simply create a “tool” for your business – an online store.

Solutions & Recommendations

Businesses must truly provide great service to avoid harsh or negative remarks on the internet. Though they may be inevitable, a company can still benefit more from the internet and its monetization opportunities. Our company can take full advantage of the three strategies mentioned earlier. Our company offers products and services. Our company is affiliated with many other contracting agencies. Our company can utilize ad space to promote products that our companies uses as well. This looks like an easy win, win situation for our company.

Conclusion
We can see how the internet can both benefit a company and degrade a company. I strongly feel that there are more outlets and tools that can benefit a company than tools that can harm our company. The internet is a platform for today’s modern day society. It used by everyone around the world, and most people in America have to ability to access it with the smartphone with ease. The possibilities for expansion using the internet are almost endless.

...After careful consideration, I elected to write my final paper on the works of author, Walt Whitman. The reason I selected this author is because I have travelled to the Atlantic coast and driven over the Walt Whitman Bridge numerous times, never knowing who he was, or what he did. When I saw his name in the textbook, I was intrigued. I decided I wanted to educate myself and analyze his work. The first poem I studied by him was “Beat! Beat! Drums!”. In this poem he speaks of bugles and drums, and the sounds that originate from them. In the first paragraph, he states “Through the windows-through doors-burst like a ruthless force, Into the solemn church, and scatter the congregation, Into the school where the scholar is studying;” I interpreted this to mean the sound of the bugles and drums carry through windows and doors and interrupt those that are around them. They hear the sounds being made, and cannot shut them out. He continues by saying “Make no parley-stop for no expostulation” (Whitman, para 3). To me, this means that that he wants the sounds to keep coming, regardless of any complaints from elsewhere. I am thinking that this has something to do with the military, and the bugles and drums that are being played are a way to express to everyone that it is happening and unavoidable regardless of pleas from mothers and children. The second poem I read by Walt Whitman was “I Hear America Singing” (Whitman, 644). This poem talks of different......

Assuming an American retailer is considering opening an electronics store. Based on the information below, would you recommend Mexico or Ireland as a more attractive foreign market? Why? Be sure to explain the benefits of each country, and then why you ultimately chose one over the other. | Power Distance | Individualism | Masculinity | Uncertainty Avoidance | Total Cultural Distance from US | USA | 40 | 91 | 62 | 46 | | Mexico | 81 | 30 | 69 | 92 | 86 | Ireland | 28 | 70 | 68 | 35 | 37 | Based on the above information, I would recommend Ireland as a more attractive foreign market to open an electronics store. The reasons are that by analyzing the table: Power Distance is the extent to which people accept as fact the principle of the division of authorities and priviledge among different groups within society. High power distance nations certain consumer behaviors are designated to individuals by class or status. Authority appeals in marketing are more effective. With all this in mind we see that Mexico has a higher power distance but this is not necessarily an important factor when making the market decision Individualism – people expect each other to take responsibility for themselves and their family. High individualistic societies place high value on self-reliance, individual initiative and......

...Final Essay Exam As everyone knows, education is the key to success, even though there might be some challenges. I personally was able to find one of those challenges which unfortunately I was not able to overcome. For the first time in my junior year of college I had failed a class. After seeing the letter “F” as one of my grades, I knew at that point that I had to work twice as hard from previous years if I wanted to make up for it. Now, that I’m about to register for my senior year is where I start to realize that failing a class does make you fall behind. In order to make up for the class that I failed, I will be taking six classes for next semester. As you can see, education has shaped my life; it has taught me that there is no time to waste. One of the hardest things that education has to offer to students I would say is reading. Not everyone has the time to sit or lie down and read a book. I am one of those students that do not like to read because it does not catch my attention. The only time that I do read is when the professors assigns it to me. However, when I do read those readings, I always learn new things such as, what has and could happen in real life. For instance, the book that I identify with is Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzalduá. In her writing she shows us a new direction that women need to take in order to free themselves psychologically, spiritually, and sexually. Furthermore, Anzalduá argues that as a result of the......

The first part of this assignment sheet sets up the prompt and the essay’s required elements. One of the things you’ll notice about this assignment is that elements of it are modeled off of previous assignments. This is deliberate, as they’ve given you practice at this type of argumentation. This special topic section of English Composition II has focused upon the horror genre as practiced by American writers. We’ve read and discussed several works from horror authors over the course of the nation’s history, and considered in-depth longer fiction from the 20th Century horror icon Shirley Jackson. We’ve also delved into popular culture, examining comic books and, time permitting, television shows and movies. For this essay, you’ll be asked to pick another horror story (see The Topic section for some ideas) to add to this course’s discussion. In the interest of time, I suggest a short story, but you could read a novel for this project as well. More specifically, your essay should do the following things: (1) Provide your readers unfamiliar with your chosen text some context about the work, including a brief summary of the story. Likely, this would occur in your first support paragraph after your introduction. (2) Review the story. This is your opportunity to argue......

... Since diet pills only improve weight loss and it is not a lifestyle change most of them will stop working after a certain length of time (Hensrud, 2011). Also, once the person stops taking them, the weight will start to pile back on plus some (Nyako, 2012). Now, if the healthy diet person stops eating healthy all together, he will start to gain the weight back . However, it will be a slow increase compared to the diet pills ("Healthy Weight Loss & Dieting Tips", n.d.). Whether a person is trying to lose weight with diet pills or by eating a healthy diet, there are several components in both that he needs to weigh out before making a decision. Being healthy should be the ultimate goal of the person trying to lose weight. The final decision is in his hands on what he wants to do with this body. ...College Skills Final Essay My personal definition of success is to have what I need to make it through one day at a time with the food, clothing, shelter, and love that is needed to survive. Making it through one day at a time requires these elements in order to move on. In order to obtain food, clothing, and shelter, I need the ability to generate an income of some sort. The amount of income I can generate is dependent upon the effort that I put into finding the perfect job, and meeting any goals that I set for myself, mainly my short term goal of receiving a college degree. The steps required for me to achieve personal success are many. Accepting personal responsibility will be one of those steps. I have to accept responsibility for the actions that I choose to take. If I choose to not study for an exam, or I choose to not seek out additional help to learn how to solve a difficult Calculus problem, then I am the only person that I can blame if I receive a grade that is less than an A. I have to accept personal responsibility for choices that I make not only in college but also in my place of employment. I initially started my college journey due to being terminated from my last place of employment. I was terminated due to a decision that I chose to make. From the time I made that decision, I accepted what I did with a clear conscious because I knew that what I did was morally and spiritually right. Business Law Final Essay

...Business Law Final Essay Question #2 Unfortunately, it sounds as if Carol was knowingly swindled. Whereas it would seem that Carol would be able to get John’s statements, “was a creampuff” and “this car runs like it was driven by a little, old lady”, she would not be able to. The comments that John made would be seen as puffery most likely. Puffery is unfortunately legal in the United States. A seller is allowed to make statements asserting their opinion of value that the buyer cannot rely on as the basis for the bargain. This is almost a “buyer beware” situation where John’s statements cannot be proven and are speculative in nature. “Creampuff” and “driven by a little, old lady” could also be open to interpretation. However, the statement that John made to Carol, “Definitely would pass inspection” is most definitely an express warranty. “Express warranties are specific promises made by the seller and include oral representations, written representations, descriptions of the goods or services, representations in samples and models, and proof of prior quality of the goods or services.” John made a promise to Carol and represented the car as being “definitely” able to pass inspection. The kid was also acting as an agent for Shady’s when he promised to fix Carol vehicle. Carol may run into the problem of not having a witness hear John’s statements to her and having his statements being considered hearsay.
