How Internet Marketing Works

Figure [ 1 ]
Figure [ 1 ]
Marketing is about communicating the value of a product, service or brand to customers or consumers for the purpose of promoting or selling that product, service, or brand. The internet creates the perfect platform to accomplish this. As the illustration simply shows, the internet has a few different marketing opportunity routes. The logical thing to create first would be a reputable company website. A website that is interactive with users, but also very user friendly, allowing users to have a pleasant visit experience that proved to be informative and beneficial. After our company website is operational, we can move on to other internet marketing tools such as search engine optimization, social media optimization, email marketing, and of course, consumer reviews. Consumer reviews can be extremely beneficial, but can also be extremely harmful. Consumer reviews will be further discussed.

The Pros to Internet Marketing

Figure [ 2 ]
Figure [ 2 ]
Since the internet is has a plethora of ways to create revenue, let check out a few. There are many strategies that can help any business with the help of the internet platform. Wikipedia defines social media as all online tools and platforms that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other. Susan Lincoln, author of Mastering Web 2.0 explains the most important pro like this; “The social web is a place where people with common interests gather to share thoughts and comments. Importantly, social media holds increasing sway over the public opinion.” (Lincoln, 2009 pg. 9)
Let take a look at some of the ways Social Media can prove to be beneficial. Social media gives companies the opportunity to feed their advertisements to people. These advertisements can appeal to a user’s certain likings or lifestyle. These types of ads can really affect a company’s publicity and sales in a positive way. Like Susan Lincoln said in her book, these advertisements or social media ads can sway the public opinion on a company and how dependable and official their company website looks.
The Pros to Internet Marketing
Figure [ 3 ]
Figure [ 3 ]

Figure [ 4 ]
Figure [ 4 ] First let’s examine PPC, or pay per click. This basically is more of a way to generate user traffic to your company website or even directly to products. A budget is created with a search engine, (i.e. Google, Bing). In a PPC campaign, you pay Google however much you wish to have them list ads for your site at the top and right of the organic search listings. When someone clicks on your add, you pay the current Cost Per Click (CPC) from your budget. Once your entire budget has been depleted, Google ceases to run your ads until you replenish your fund. The goal is to be advertised to the user first, and not on the later pages of a user’s search results. This will create familiarity for users and increase traffic. (Google, 2010)
Once user traffic is generated, the company’s website will now become increasingly popular overtime, allowing more products, information, and services to be solicited. Depending on what the purpose of a company’s website is will determine what strategy to utilization when it comes to monetization.

The Cons to Internet Marketing

Social Media:
On the flip side, social media users can make harsh remarks or even bash local business or any business about their service. These remarks can affect a business’s reputation.

Web Reviews:
Most websites have review sections where users can describe their experience with a certain company. These reviews can affect a company in a negative way. It’s best to always provide awesome service no matter what. With the internet the way it is now, the power is in the people’s hands.

Bad Advertisement:
Figure [ 7 ]
Figure [ 7 ]
Audience is always something to consider when dealing with internet marketing. You don't want to sell ad space to an advertiser that might put a banner ad that's inappropriate. You always want to preview their ad before you just let them put it on your site. Pop-ups can also deter users. They can be very annoying and distract users from the company’s website.

Three Successful Strategies to Webpage Monetization:

Affiliate Marketing:
Affiliate marketing is a very popular way to make money through a website. Basically, a company would sell or recommend another company’s products on your website. When a user clicks on the affiliate link and buys the product – we receive a commission. Typically the commission is usually 30% – 70% of the product or service price.

Selling Ad Space:
Selling advertising space is a simple strategy that utilizes the company’s website traffic to generate revenue. The easiest way to do it is to join a banner ad network, which will recruit advertisers, keep track of your earnings, and control banner ad placement on your site. In exchange for these services, the network will take a percentage of the advertising money generated by your ad space.

NOTE: Audience is important. Selling ad space to an advertiser that might put an advertisement that's inappropriate could deter users. It is best to preview their ad before it is displayed.

Selling Company Product / Online Store:
There are many e-commerce websites on the Internet. You can simply create a “tool” for your business – an online store.

Solutions & Recommendations

Businesses must truly provide great service to avoid harsh or negative remarks on the internet. Though they may be inevitable, a company can still benefit more from the internet and its monetization opportunities. Our company can take full advantage of the three strategies mentioned earlier. Our company offers products and services. Our company is affiliated with many other contracting agencies. Our company can utilize ad space to promote products that our companies uses as well. This looks like an easy win, win situation for our company.

Conclusion
We can see how the internet can both benefit a company and degrade a company. I strongly feel that there are more outlets and tools that can benefit a company than tools that can harm our company. The internet is a platform for today’s modern day society. It used by everyone around the world, and most people in America have to ability to access it with the smartphone with ease. The possibilities for expansion using the internet are almost endless.

...Final Essay Exam As everyone knows, education is the key to success, even though there might be some challenges. I personally was able to find one of those challenges which unfortunately I was not able to overcome. For the first time in my junior year of college I had failed a class. After seeing the letter “F” as one of my grades, I knew at that point that I had to work twice as hard from previous years if I wanted to make up for it. Now, that I’m about to register for my senior year is where I start to realize that failing a class does make you fall behind. In order to make up for the class that I failed, I will be taking six classes for next semester. As you can see, education has shaped my life; it has taught me that there is no time to waste. One of the hardest things that education has to offer to students I would say is reading. Not everyone has the time to sit or lie down and read a book. I am one of those students that do not like to read because it does not catch my attention. The only time that I do read is when the professors assigns it to me. However, when I do read those readings, I always learn new things such as, what has and could happen in real life. For instance, the book that I identify with is Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzalduá. In her writing she shows us a new direction that women need to take in order to free themselves psychologically, spiritually, and sexually....

The Wall Street Journal viewed at wsj.com is a business focused, English language international newspaper based in New York City where her article is placed under the commentary. Weiss--a senior at Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh—has written this among many other articles posted in the NY Daily News and others. Presenting her thesis early in her article, Weiss creates a foundation for the six arguments she establishes in defense for her claim that colleges lied to her; however, due to her lack of specific examples, statistics, and false claims, she fails to support her argument sufficiently. In her article, Weiss strengthens her ethos and logos drawing in on her very own feelings and thoughts for the varied audience of wsj.com. ...Social Security COM/156 July 3, 2011 Linda Dell’Osso Social Security On August 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law. Creating this new law allows workers, at the age of 65 and older, to receive an income that would continue after retirement. The benefits that each worker receives are based on contributions taken from each paycheck. The payroll contribution taxes finances the payments that retirees received monthly. “The program's finances are based on the relationship between the number of workers paying taxes and the number of retirees receiving benefits,” (SSA, 2011, p. 1). With the high rise in unemployment and the number of Baby Boomers reaching retirement age, the social security “annual cash surplus” is facing distinction. President Franklin D Roosevelt established a Social Security Board (SSA), consisting of John G. Winant, Arthur J. Altmeyer and Vincent M. Miles, (SSA, 2011). The newly established board provides information to the public, along with employers and employees, about the reporting of earnings and the availability and distribution of benefits. The Social Security Board remained an “independent agent” until 1939. During administration changes, the Social Security Administration, which operated under the Department of Health and Human Services, replaced the social security board. The main purpose of the social security system was to provide income for workers in their senior years. This income was...

...With obesity rates being 35.7% in adults and 17% in children with in the United States (Overweight and Obesity, 2011), attention needs to be focused on what overweight and obese people should do to start losing weight. There are several ways to start losing weight. One is with diet pills or dietary supplements. Another is with a healthy diet and keeping track of the amount of calories to intake a day. While a healthy diet and diet pills are similar in terms of their components, they differ regarding the speed and the effectiveness of weight loss. A healthy diet and diet pills are similar in the components needed for each weight loss program. With both a healthy diet and diets pills, in order to lose the weight, a person needs to eat proper nutritional meals, including water, along with exercise (Coleman, 2011). Several diet pills advertisements will announce that a person can eat what ever they want and still lose weight as long as they take this pill , however, this is not true. The companies are exaggerating the claims to get people to purchase their product (Graves, 1999). When trying to lose weight on a pill it is healthier for the person to eat healthier then to eat what ever they want to as it can cause side effects. These side effects can include loose stool, gas with spotting, and unable to control when having to use the bathroom (Savage, n.d.). It will not only help you lose weight but also be healthier for you (Hensrud, 2011). When a person is......

...Home Ownership Versus Renting an Apartment COM/156 9-26-2010 Axia College of University of Phoenix Home Ownership versus Renting an Apartment The American dream for most people today, is to own his or her own home; even with the market having a downturn because of the heavy use of variable-rate mortgage loans. With house ownership the responsibilities are greater because the owner is responsible for all repairs and maintenance. This means that it is important to have savings established to be able to cover such situations as they arise. The ability to own a home for younger families that are just starting out is not always possible. So renting an apartment is a way to get settled, and to work toward setting aside the needed financial resources to purchase a house. For people who are working for a short time in an area renting is a better option, because they do not have to worry about maintenance costs as well as the steps of selling a house, the closing costs, and paperwork involved. This leads to the simple fact that in the market today owning a house is better than renting an apartment. There are several benefits to owning a house that have long-term advantages over renting an apartment. When a house is still under a mortgage the interest that is accrued is tax deductible with annual income taxes, this helps to put aside much needed income to provide for any unexpected maintenance costs. A responsible home owner should already have an escrow account in......

...The primary aim of my assignment is to look at the issue of end of life care in dialysis satellite units, as these areas tend to be nurse led units. My interest in palliative and end of life care has arisen from the growing number of poorly patients we continue to dialyse, this has proved distressing especially for the patient, who often has unmanaged symptoms and for their families, it is also upsetting for the staff involved in their care, as it is felt nobody is acting as the patients’ advocate and helping the decision to facilitate the withdrawal of what is now an ineffective and unnecessary treatment. One of the latest developments by the Government and Department of health is the concept of Advance Care Planning. I have looked at this from various perspectives and would like to be involved in introducing the process to Sheffield Kidney Institute. In 2004, the number of patients receiving renal replacement therapy in England, Scotland and Wales was 33,511, this figure is sourced from data which has been made available to them from participating renal units throughout the country, the number of patients receiving dialysis since 2000 has risen by 7% (Ansell et al 2005) with it projected to rise by a further 10 percent over the next 5 years (Ansell et al 2005). About 15-29 percent of deaths of patients with end stage renal disease results from a decision to discontinue dialysis (Davison 2006).
