Describe a special trip you would like to go on in the future.
You should say:
Where you would like go
Who you would like to go with
What you would do there and explain why this would be a special trip.

Well…a special trip I would like to go on in the future…let me see…I guess I want to go back to the United States. Look, I went to college in the States 5 years ago. And I studied in the University of Minnesota. It’s a great experience. Now I’ve graduated for two years. But I still miss it very much. And I always see myself going back there in my dreams. So…I guess, if it’s possible I’d like to go back to visit the place where I spent the best part of my youth. Now if you ask me who I would like to go with…well, I can’t make up my mind. Right now I can think of many people I’d like to go there with: my parents, my wife, some of my classmates who also came back to China after graduation. Anyway…maybe I’ll just go there with my wife first, and then my parents, and then my school buddies. And speaking of what I would do there, like I said, I plan to revisit the university, and then probably, I’ll spend some time visiting friends, and then I guess I’ll take my wife and travel through America from coast to coast, from ocean to ocean, from border to border. You know what, when I was studying in college, I never really had time traveling, because I was a straight A student, and I spent most of my time in classroom and in library. Yes, seriously, no joking. And…to say why this would be a special trip…I don’t want to make it complicated. It is special just because I’ve been wanting to go back to visit for long. And that’s it. Nothing more and nothing less. Just it.

Describe a picture or photograph in your family.
You should say:
What is in the picture
Where this picture is in your home how this picture was taken and explain whether you think this picture is meaningful and why.

Well, first of all, I gotta say, this topic is a bit difficult for me, because, you know what, my parents don’t like to take photos. Neither do I. So there aren’t many pictures, photos we keep at home. No…wait. I think I remember one. It is a picture of my family taken way, way, way back. I guess I was only 3 or 4 or 5 or maybe only 6 years old at that time. It’s a very old picture. Now speaking of where this picture is in my home, well, to be honest with you. I don’t know. Like I said, all of my family members don’t like taking pictures, photos. Plus, this picture was taken long time ago. So…I don’t know where it actually is right now. Maybe it is lying somewhere in some dark corners collecting dust. Or maybe it is already lost.
But anyway…this is one of the few pictures I can possibly remember right now. And when it comes to how this picture was taken, it is a long story. As you may know, digital camera hasn’t been around for long, but only 10 years. No…wait, is it 10 years or 20 years? I think I don’t remember anyone using digital camera back in middle school. So…it’s somewhere between 10 to 20 years. To cut the story short, we had the picture taken at a state‐owned photograph studio. Yes, that’s right. You heard me, a state‐owned photograph studio. You know, Chinese economy with Chinese characteristics. Anyway, as to whether I think this picture is meaningful, well…I gotta say, yes and no.
Yes because this is one of the first photos I had for my family. No, because…uh…I don’t know. Look, my parents got divorced. And …anyway…I think I don’t want to talk about it anymore. So…that’s it. Thanks.

Well, there are many education TV programs today. I can easily make a whole list of them. But right now I’d like to talk about this language learning program that I particularly enjoy. First of all, I have to tell you, I’m a philologist. I mean (what I’m trying to say is just like…), I love learning languages. And one of my biggest dreams is to master all the languages in the world. I know, it is impossible, but mastering 6 or maybe 8 or maybe
10 of them, I think, is still possible. So…this TV program is called Chyu Ni Chi Ko Ryu Hyo Jyon Ni Hong Go. Well, that’s
Japanese, which literally means standard Japanese for Sino‐Japan communication. Now as to how often I watch this program, I have to say, I never miss a single episode…no wait…is it a session? An episode? Anyway…I never miss it. This program is on air every Friday night. So…I would sit in front the TV screen right in time before it starts. Finally, to say why this program is educational…uh…it is too obvious. It teaches you
Japanese. Of course, if you really want to learn a language well, watching this program is not enough at all. You need to find your interest in it. And I’ve found my interest, LOL, if you know what I mean.

Describe an educational TV program that you have seen.
You should say: what the program is about / what the program is how often you watch or listen to this program what type of people enjoy this program and explain why this program is educational

Describe a historical building in your country/ hometown.
You should say:
Where this building is
How you got to know this building
What it is like and explain whether it is important to your hometown/country and why.

An application of one‐for‐all solution: Well, speaking of a historical building in my hometown, I guess I’m gonna talk about a temple—the Nga Ngwa temple. Well, Nga Ngwa is a local dialect word in my hometown.
It means charm and good luck. Anyway, this temple is about 500 hundred years old, yes, I think so. It is not far away from the city center. And it’s just within walking distance from my home. Now as to how I got to know it, well…it’s a long story. First, I have to tell you, I’m a traveholic, and people even call me Mr. Adventurous, because I always have a thirst for adventures, and whenever I’m on vacation or have a free time, I would get going, traveling from one place to another. So far, I’ve been to over 100 different places and regions, including the most populated metropolis of Seoul to the unexplored wilderness of Africa, from the most formidable depth of Gobi desert to the lush paradise islands in the
Caribbean sea. But you know what, every time before I go, I would always come to this temp to pray, to pray for a safe journey to my destination and a safe journey home. Call me superstitious if you want. But I do believe it works. Look, recently I just came back from Nepal, the beautiful Himalayan kingdom situated in the lap of the majestic Himalayas, and of course, the country known for its recent massive earthquake. You know what, I left Nepal right before the earthquake happened.
Superstitious? I don’t think so. Anyway, whether it is important to my hometown…that I don’t know. But I can tell you, it is definitely important to me, because it can give me safe journeys.

Describe a time when a child did something that made you laugh.
You should say:
When this happened
Who the child was
What the child did and explain why it was funny.

Can you try using one‐for‐all solution for this one? Mr. scaredy‐cat Mr. Coward Mr. I’m scared…
Well, speaking of a time when a child did something that made me laugh…well, let me think about it. Ok…I want to talk about this kid. He’s neighbor’s son, Mr. Scaredy‐cat.
You know what, he recently did something that really made me laugh. Well, it’s a long story… first of all, look, I love traveling a lot. So far, I’ve been to over 100 different places and regions, including the most populated metropolis of Seoul to the unexplored wilderness of Africa, from the most formidable depth of Gobi desert to the lush paradise islands in the Caribbean sea. Every time I come back from a trip, I would always bring some souvenirs back for my neighbors. Recently I just came back from Nepal, the beautiful Himalayan kingdom situated in the lap of the majestic Himalayas. And I bought a nice souvenir by Mr. Scaredy‐cat—a Gurkha soldier figurine/toy. You know what… You know what Mr. scaredy‐cat said? He said he wanted to be Gurkha soldier. Come on! It is impossible. He is such a coward boy. So timid, and so shy. How could it ever be possible. So…I laughed. But I could laugh loud. But it is funny….anway…

Describe something that you want to learn more.
You should say:
What it is
How you would learn it
Where you can learn it and explain why you want to keep learning it.

Well, this topic is super easy for me. It definitely has to be English. Look, I’m going to study in the UK, the place where the English language was born. I want to go there and
I want to study in the University of Cambridge. Speaking of how I would learn it, well, I will spend a lot of time on vocabulary study, to build up my vocabulary, and then I’ll watch and listen to a lot of video and audio materials to learn how words and expressions are used in real language environment.
And then I’ll spend a lot of time reading books, books of all kinds. I can’t just restrict myself to reading academic books. I also need to read many other types of books, from fictions to non‐fictions, from Sci‐Fi’s to fantasies. I’ll also need to spend enough time practicing my spoken English. Basically, I’ll have to immerse myself in an English environment. Yes, that’s right. And as to where I can go to learn it…uh…I don’t want to say language schools, because
I’ve been there once. The teachers there, (sigh), are terrible. First of all, none of them had proper training or qualification. Most of them are fresh college graduates. So…I think you can imagine what it’s like. Finally, as to why I want to keep learning it and learn it more, I have to say, I need to nail a 7.5 for my IELTS, with no modules below 7, before I can get admission into
Cambridge. Look, I’ve already got an overall band score of 7.5 with listening 8, reading
8, speaking 7, but the writing is only a 6. So…I have to keep pushing, until I reach my goal. 追

Well, speaking of an indoor game that I liked to play when I was a child, I think I’m gonna talk about Nga Ngwa. Well, you may not have heard of this game before, because it is not a popular game in China. But I really enjoyed it when I was young. To play this game, there are two teams. Me and my cousins used to play this game together at my grandma’s house. My grandma had a big house, two floors, 6 rooms.
Anyway…Jimmy, one of my cousins, and I used to be on the same team. The game is like this, each oteam has 4 tokens, 4 Nga Ngwa. Nga Ngwa is the name of the token.
And we have to follow a rule called Beeah Gee. If you Beeah Gee, you win a point, and the first team to get 20 points wins a token over the other team. The team with the most tokens when the time is up wins the game. You see, it is simple, but not that simple. It is competitive and also builds team spirit. That’s why me and my cousins all liked this game. Finally, to answer why I still remember this game…uh…I don’t know. I just remember it. Maybe it’s just because I have good memory power? Maybe I do. Anyway, that’s all
I want to share for now.

Describe an indoor game that you liked to play when you were a child.
You should say:
What the game was
When, where and with whom you usually played it
How you played it and explain why you still remember this game or you liked this game.

Well, there are many activities people can do to keep fit, but for me…uh…I have to be
100 percent honest with you. I don’t do anything to keep fit. I live a very unhealthy lifestyle. I eat a lot of food that is rich in fat and cholesterol; I don’t exercise at all.
Actually, I hate exercise, because I’m lazy. I stay up late almost every night; I get up also very late. I drink alcohol; I smoke and I jerk off for fun…uh…that last one, I was kidding.
So…what I’m trying to say is I can’t think of any activity that I actually do to keep fit. So…if I really have to say something, really have to talk about an activity that I do to keep fit, I guess I have to lie. So…here goes:
I swim every day to keep in shape. And I swim twice, one in the morning after I get up, the other in the afternoon. And I swim in my own swimming pool. I own a big, big house. It has 3 floors, a big garden, a big garage for 5 cars and an Olympic size indoor swimming pool. I mean…it is not a house, it is a mansion, a luxurious mansion. And...as to how I do it…well, to do swimming. I change for swimming shorts, and then
I get in the pool, and then stretch out my arms and legs and swim. And finally as to why it can keep me fit, well I guess, it is because it’s good exercise for heart. It can also exercise every part of my body. So…that’s why it can keep me fit. I guess that’s all. Thank you.
