TELUS is very successful and well respected telecommunications company. Last year alone, the corporation earned approximately twelve billion dollars in operating revenues directly behind they’re lead competitor, Rogers with an impressive twelve billion nine hundred thousand dollars.

Nevertheless, as a recommendation, the company could re-evaluate their long-term financial objectives and consider focusing on short term goals to pursue in the next two years. By concentrating sales on one particular product or service which offers the most appreciable profit, it could potentially elevate the annual income, yet this strategy is only realistic if all other subdivisions of the company continue to provide steady earnings.

In terms of actual results and growth, if Telus truly considered this concept of expansion. The annual revenue in 2016 and 2017, could range between 12.35 to 12.55 billion dollars each year, an increase of three to five percent, which is far above previous set targets that use the current guidelines and policies. Although the proposition may appear risky at first glance, the idea may possibly benefit the business in multiple ways.

Market Penetration Strategy

Based on the company’s financial objective, it would be important to emphasize sales on their loyal consumers. Food Choices

...Food choices are influenced by many factors, age, gender, friends, family, cultural background and where we live. But the main purpose of food is to nourish the body. There are a lot of factors to consider when making our food choices. The three most important factors are: * How the food is grown * Where the food is grown * Income The way food is grown influences how we make our food choices. Advertisement is commonly used to inform customers of how food is grown (NCBI 199) Advertising agents spend billions of dollars on advertising and packaging in order to capture the interest of the consumer. They use the power of persuasion to make whatever it is they are advertising very appealing, even if it means lying to customers. The advertising agents may advertise that the food had no preservatives or chemicals but in fact they do. As customers we believe what is said in the media and on the packaging because we expect the truth to be told. Some foods may be labelled locally grown, yet in actual fact the food has been imported from overseas or a different state. It’s important to consider how food is grown when making food choices. Most food nowadays is filled with a variety of chemicals to make the particular food grow at a rapid rate. An example would be chicken. Chickens are pumped with growth hormones for rapid growth so that the amount of chickens produced can meet the demands of consumers. However the media persists that the rapid growth of chicken is normal and...

...Factors That Affect Our Food Choices. A group of friends goes out for lunch every Friday night. A Worker who is asked to explain why hot dogs are his favorite food says it has something to do with going to baseball game with his father. 3 Main Determinants of Food Choice

...Although choosing what food to eat it is not often viewed as more than an everyday mundane decision, the concept of food choice is ‘multifaceted, situational, dynamic, and complex’ (Sobal and Bisogni 2009, 38). We live in a society where the mass production of food has led to an extremely wide variety of choice in the foods we eat (Germov and Williams 2008, 10). Therefore, it is important that we understand the reasons for which we choose the food we eat, and to have an insight into the factors which dictate our food choices. There are three main factors which should be considered when making our food choices; biological determinants, economic and physical determinants and social determinants. These three broad factors will be discussed in relation to determining our personal food choice. The biological determinants include physiological factors of the food itself, as well as our own personal hunger. Humans need energy and nutrients in order to survive and therefore the body’s physiological processes create a sensation of hunger and a subsequent need for food. Satiation occurs as food is being eaten which leads to satiety where food is no longer needed to be consumed (Bellisle 2005, par 4-7). The different nutrients in our foods cause the satiation process to vary in effectiveness. ‘Fat has the lowest satiating power, carbohydrates have an intermediate effect and protein has been found to be the most satiating’ (Stubbs et al. 1996, 409). Hunger and satiety therefore play a...

Food Choices

...overweight or obese children and adults in the population has increased while the numbers of lifestyle-related deaths have also increased. As Webb and Whitney (2008) argue, consumers today value convenience so highly that they are willing to spend over half of their food budget on meals that require little or no preparation. They regularly eat out, bring home ready-to-eat meals, or have food delivered. This trend is mainly influenced by the media which promotes such behaviors through commercials and popular programs and movies. The media is a major source of information and misinformation on nutritional sources. The media through advertising promotes unhealthy foods rich in sugars, fat, salt as the ideal food choices. According to Fettling, members of the public are regularly bombarded by messages about food in all forms of media: television, the internet, radio, newspapers, and magazines. Many of these messages revolve around food manufacturers marketing their products in the hope that the public will buy them. The manufacturers use very clever techniques such as jingles and claims about a food's special properties. Manufacturers spend a lot of money on advertising because it is a very effective influence on the food choices of viewers (Fettling 2005, 36). The effect of this advertising is very damaging on children and teenagers. This is firstly because children to do not understand that advertising is not necessarily meant to market a good product but might, instead, be intended...

What Are Three Main Factors We Should Consider When Making Our Food Choices?

...Naomi 9 July 2014 What are three main factors we should consider when making our food choices? Food choice? What decides what we eat? Some people think that taste alone is the deciding factor for what they eat. Is this so? In reality, there are a lot of things to consider first, for example a persons religion, is it healthy, and can I afford it. So really “what to eat” is more of a cautious and conscious decision than a random one. Let us talk a little bit more about the choices that we make consciously and subconsciously regarding our food. The first factor we are going to consider is religion. When deciding food possibilities, Religion, along with culture, plays a big role in making the decision for what people are allowed to eat. In some countries and for some people it’s alright to eat beef, but for other people eating meat from a cow is a sin. Cultural and religious beliefs differ from one religion to another depending on the belief structure. Take Christianity for example, some Christians, have several feast and fast days during a year, and may fast from meat on particular days. Another example is the jewish religion, which has very structured dietary obligations. During the Passover feast every year jews are not allowed to eat bread containing yeast (leven) amongst other restrictions. In the Islamic religion all meat must be “HALAL” in other words, meat slaughtered in the prescribed way according to the shariah. This is a small example of how religion can...

Imigration Ipact on Food Choice

...Immigration impact on food choice in Ireland In my essay on how immigration impacts food choice in Ireland, I will be discussing different advantages and disadvantages of immigration ant its impact on the country. However not only about the food choice, but also on how immigration reflected on eating habits of people living in Ireland as well as the differences between earlier ages when immigration was not a common thing and immigrants did not have a big influence in the country as in nowadays when immigration is spreading all over the world, especially after Europe Union has been created, now immigration has big influence on every aspect in the county, especially in food culture. “Food has many roles to play for consumers: it is functional (sustaining life); it plays a key role in our celebrations; it is a conduit for socializing; it is entertaining; it is sensuous and sensual; and it is a way of experiencing new cultures and countries”. (R. Michel & C. Hall, 2003, pg 60). In these days we hardly can imagine our life without different foreign cousins, like for example Chinese, Indian, French, Italian and etc... But we hardly ever think how and why we have such a big variety of food nowadays, and mainly it is because of immigration. As we all already know from media and newspapers that since Ireland became a member of Europe union back in 2002 immigration start growing really fast. For example according to the European magazine that already in 2005 it was estimated...

As you learn new things you get an understanding of what you are interested in, what you would enjoy doing and what will be one of the best paying options. When the students reached this point, they now start to solicit ideas of what course to be selected as an embodiment of their future career. However, though most of them solicit ideas from the people who are learned in a particular discerning situation, they usually end up selecting their own choices (Polistico, 2009). Choice & Major Companies

...much choice do we really have when we want to purchase goods? Choice is something most people just assume they have when they are picking their cable company, choosing a bank, or even walking through your local food mart. The goal of this essay is to show that while at first glance choices may seem endless, but when you do a small amount of research you can quickly realize that most brands link back to the same parent company. The majority of foods, drinks, and health products we buy trace their way back to 10 major corporations. Society today has this false idea that they have a choice in what they buy at the grocery store. For example you may not like large soda companies and decide to not buy their products. But if you buy bottled water, sports drinks, energy drinks, or fruit juice chances are you are buying a brand from a soda producing parent company. Most retailers charge a fee to get products on the most visible shelves which keeps small companies away from your line of sight. This is because large consumer good companies have a special relationship with retailers. Like an “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine ideology”. Many of the products that you see on store shelves are direct competitors that are linked to the same company. “ConAgra sells six varieties of popcorn” (http://www.alternet.org/food/how-big-food-creates-illusion-choice-supermarket). Different brands of products is a ploy that most parent companies use to help give you a false idea of choice. This...
