E. Major Disadvantages of Recommendation A major disadvantage is that our initial test market, SUNY Cortland students and the city of Cortland, are both smaller markets. In 2014, SUNY Cortland had 6,317 undergraduate students enrolled for the fall semester (SUNY Cortland, 2014). That is small compared to Syracuse University that has 14,532 enrolled students for the fall 2014 semester (Syracuse University, 2014). Therefore, our app will not reach as large of an audience, if we released it to a larger school. The Cortland area is also a smaller city compared to other places. Therefore, Cortland does not have as many activities available compared to a much larger city. For example, Syracuse has semi-professional baseball, hockey teams, and a nice mall. Cortland does not have any professional teams or a nice mall. However, SUNY Cortland has hosted the New York Jets for training camp. There are many risks involved with creating a new app. There are some similar apps already available out on the market already. For example, Foursquare is one of our largest competitors.
