Fun in the Sun?

Being in the sun can cause skin cancer. Then why do we keep sunbathing, when it is dangerous? That is a really good question! We humans love a good tan, it makes us stand out a little, and look different from the others. It also means that you have done something different than lying at home on a couch. You have been outside and maybe did some activities. When you think you look a little better, you get satisfaction and more confidence, and everybody loves that.
All these things sound great! So why aren’t we all doing it?
Well, then there is also all the cons. And the cons are bad. Really bad. So bad that it kills many people every year. It can give Sunburns, skin damage, eye damages, cancer, etc. And in worst cases that can lead to death, and that happens. Then it’s very important that you remember to use sunscreen. If you don’t remember sunscreen your skin can be harmed, and you can get cancer, and cancer is lethal. Sun screen has a huge impact on how your skin tolerates the sun’s rays, due to its neutralization of UVA rays and UVB rays. UVA rays is what makes us look older, they make wrinkles. UVB rays is what cause sunburns. But not getting any of the UVA or UVB rays is inevitable, it’s only when you are getting too many it is dangerous.
I personally love being outside and enjoying the sun. I can lay back and enjoy life, with an ice cold coke. But of course I TRY to remember the sunscreen, without that I would get a bad sunburn, and that has happened many times. But I really do not think that much about the consequences, which is quite stupid, because I know it’s bad for your health. Nothing really serious has happened to me later on, if I have gotten sunburned, but I think as soon as I get a really bad sunburn, I have learned my lesson. When I’m outside in the sun, I like to play football or tennis. And the dangerous part of doing

Tanning Market

...Opportunity The United States is fat. The fruit and juice industry is a 3 billion dollar industry that needs to be addressed by my company Sun Tan. The indoor tanning industry is a 5 billion dollar industry serving more than 30 million Americans. We intend to merge these two productive industries under one roof and reap the benefits of a combined 7-8 billion dollar industry. From 2001 to 2006 smoothie sales grew at a rate of 82%. People need somewhere they can go and get a quick tan followed by a refreshing healthy beverage or meal replacement. Busy people find ways to work more efficiently in order to achieve desired results; that includes tanning then reaching for a refreshing beverage. Sun Tan is a full service smoothie café and tanning salon offering a fun Polynesian theme including healthy snacks and collectibles. The smoothie and tanning industry are some of the fastest growing industries in history. Few shops offer both tanning and smoothies in one location. You can find such business endeavors on each coast, but not here in the Dallas Ft. Worth metroplex. Dallas has the perfect demographic makeup to support such an undertaking. The target market for this opportunity is actually comprised of a couple of different groups. Primarily the targets are 18-34 year olds and women. Generation X and Y consumers are demonstrating a huge concern with nutrition and fitness that separates them from the Baby Boomers and older generations. Smoothies have emerged as the best vehicle...

Comparing 'All Summer In A Day And The Fun They Had'

...real book!” Can you imagine living in a world without a paperback or living on a different planet where it rains twenty-four seven. Well this is how the two authors Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov set up their characters in the books “All Summer in a day” and “the Fun They Had”. The authors used lots of literary elements to reveal the setting and set the tone of the story. They also used figures of speech, sensory details, and dialog to add more depth to their stories. Plus the authors used details to affect the mood and atmosphere of the two stories. The Two stories “All Summer in a day” and “the Fun They Had” have lots of differences and similarities such as they both portray the future in a sad and depressing way with little chance of contentment. For Example, in “All Summer in a day” the kids don't believe in the sun or what Margot tells them about...

Descriptive Beach Essay

...the beach to enjoy the water, the sun, the activities that are happening, or just to be with family and friends. When you're at the beach, there are some very distinct smells. You can smell the salt from the water along with the heat from the sand. My most favorite smell of all is the sweet coconut smell of sun tanning lotion that people put on themselves while they lay into the sun to basically "cook." If you're looking for a quiet day of relaxation at the beach, I don't think that will work out too well. The beach is always really loud throughout the day. You can hear the loud motors of the boats and the waves of the water as they come crashing through to shore. You'll definitely be able to hear the laughter and the excitement of the kids of all ages as they splash around, play games, and build sandcastles. While you're at the beach you can always get involved in some fun activities, if you aren't able to relax. You can go fishing, if you like touching the slimy scales of the fish and the soft touch of the cold water. Just make sure you don't get the rough, coarse sand in your shorts because you won't like that too much. Overall the beach is lots of fun to go to, if you just want to get away from the busy everyday city life. If you are there early enough, you will be able to see a beautiful, bright sunrise and if you enjoy staying out on the beach until the evening, I'm sure you can catch a calming and loving sunset. After the sun has gone down for the night, you...

Venice

...historical places. Venice is the best city to have romantic moments. The most romantic thing in my life was taking a gondola ride with my boyfriend through the canals of Venice. We were taking a walk in the evening, and suddenly I found myself in a gondola. It was his plan. The sun was setting as we passed through the old buildings. I felt that I was living in the 13th century. During the ride, we enjoyed the views of the historical Venice houses. The old houses which are both sides of the canals were the best. Also, our gondolier made that ride unforgettable for us with a bottle of wine. The gondolier did everything to ensure that our ride would never be forgotten. After that, it was very romantic to watch the stars above at the historical stone bridges on the canal, all the while being surrounded by live music. All these things make Venice the best choice for our romantic vacation. Venice is known as one of the best places for huge carnivals in Europe. “The Carnival of Venice” is the most popular carnival. We had not planned to attend this carnival. It started three days after we arrived. We were lucky to catch it. The carnival was fantastic! We danced and had fun until sun rise. We become lost in the crowd and discovered that new culture. Most of the people who attended the...

Title

...There's something very calming about looking out over a tranquil lake, its surface as smooth as glass, reflecting the beautiful summer sky. The sounds of the splashing waves against the shore provide no better cure for insomnia. These are exactly the things I experience when at "the lake." The serenity and peacefulness of the area is unmatched by any other. That, coupled with the laughter, love and fun displayed by the numerous family and friends that claim the area as their beloved hide-away from the world, makes it the special place it is to me. If someone asked me to relate my idea of a perfect vacation, it would be everything that the lake has to offer. To walk along the sandy beach, and feel the wet sand soft and moist between my toes is better than any massage or treatment for the travel-weary soles of my feet. Small squirrels and chipmunks play tag through the lofty treetops, flitting from tree to tree all the while announcing their irritation at each other with little chirps and squeaks. The Deer of the fields bring their babies out to run themselves to exhaustion and watch us carefully should we make any wrong moves. It is very much a family retreat, where a large number of familiar faces flock in the summer time to enjoy these things, and many more in the lake itself. The cool waters of the lake provide something everyone can enjoy. Whether it's the for older folks relaxing on the docks, getting their feet just wet enough to enjoy the refreshing temperature, or the...

A Place You Know Well

...looked up and I was able to see the stars that lit up the sky above me. As I walk down to the lake, I was able to hear the crickets’ chirping and the owls hooting as they hear the crackling of the snow that I’m stepping upon. As I look through the horizon of the snow, I saw the never ending slope falling towards the lake that apparently was frozen. As I sat on one of the unfrozen steps, I looked up once again, and I see the beautiful full moon sitting on a cloud. The stars shined even brighter when the moon glistened its light down to Earth. The lake looked really calm and I only saw a couple of ripples being caused by a female duck and her ducklings swimming in the middle of the lake. In the morning when I looked outside the window, the sun shined beautifully through the icicles that dangled down the side of the house. When I drove down to the city, you can see the cities that are at sea level. As I continued looking down, I see the clouds climbing up the mountains. And as I reach out of the car’s window, I can feel the refreshing mist that touches my fingertips. The scenery of the cities down below can’t...

...Site Narrator In comes a bus load of an excited group of eighth graders on their way to camp. As they arrive to the camp site, the director informs them that she has a few rules that she would like to go over before they start their camp activities. Director “Good morning happy campers and welcome to Canoe Lake. I know you are all excited and here for fun but, there are a few rules that we all need to know to assure that your visit at Canoe Lake is a safe and fun trip.” Nurse “Safety is our number 1 priority” Director “Okay, okay, lets go over a few rules. Listen and be very careful. This is a great lake and you will definitely have a good time. Some important things to remember are: to keep out of direct sun as much as possible. Everyone must use sunscreen. Sunscreen lotion not only aids our sebaceous glands by providing moisture to the skin and hair, this also prevents you from being overexposed to sun which can burn your skin if not protected. Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids, especially water. This prevents you from overheating yourselves. Last but not least, while we are all here to have fun, when you are in the canoes, whatever you do… Do not fall into Canoe Lake, there are harmful bacterias that live in there. 8th grade kids “Okay, okay, we will be careful!” Scene#2 Lake Narrator Boy and girl run and grab their canoes. ...have taken both of these vacations in the past 12 months and will try to share our likes and dislikes. Some of the highlights are the same. They both have lots and lots of food. They both are full of fun with plenty to do and if you get bored, I would consider the experience your own fault. Our first cruise experience came with the opportunity to spend it with six other friends back in May of 2008. Carnival was the one we choose because people refer to it as a party boat (Cruise mates). If a person is looking for more of a party atmosphere, go with carnival. That is what we did and the reviews were correct. For a younger crowd; go in the spring or fall and for fewer days because kids are in school. Our first resort was nine days in Jamaica at an all inclusive Sandals Resort. The time was March 20th 2009 which was our honey moon. What makes Sandals the best place to spend your vacation, there is eight other locations over the island. People stayed at the less expensive location and played at all the rest which is included in the price. While everything is included in the price for the cruise; the drinks were extra. They offered what they call a fun pass. All extras were added to it like a credit card. Every time you turn around to get a drink we have to show this fun pass. On the resort, the drinks were all included in the price of the vacation. Drinks were offered 24/7 and included several swim up bars also. Lying out in the pool and swimming up to the bar for a drink...

...Assignment 1 1. The rhyme scheme of the poem is abab cdcd efef gg 2. The tone of the poem refers to the emotional resonance, the feeling of the speaker. ”My Mistress eyes are nothing like the sun” 3. I agree that “in this poem the speaker seems to be mocking or making fun of the Mistress’s looks”. The speaker mentioned the idealised version of female beauty namely the idea of “rose” in a woman cheek “But no such roses see in her cheeks”. 4. It refers from the classical Petrarchan sonnet in that is not idealised or romanticise a woman’s beauty. I would like to mention the first line where the speaker says “My Mistress eyes are nothing like the sun”. He mentions the idealised version of female beauty. 5. A simile is a comparison that uses the word “like” or “as” in the poem we read “My Mistress eyes are nothing like a sun”, this line compares the mistress’s eyes to the sun. A metaphor is a comparison that does not use the word “like” or “as” but simple states that one thing is the same as another thing. In the sonnet we read “black wires grow on her head” this is a metaphor comparing the Mistress’s hair to wire. Personification is a form of metaphor; it involves turning a non-human object into a human aspect e.g. “I have seen roses damasked, red and white (line 5) roses turn into a human attribute. 6. Our society promotes ideals of woman’s beauty that are as unrealistic as those that are mentioned in the poem, the ideal women in old days is not perhaps...

Writing Cuneiform

...easily. When the clay is dry and you made a mistake you have to start over. There are also differences between typing and cuneiform. For cuneiform it is longer to right and it is by hand. You need clay tablets. There is a stylus and symbols instead of letters. It is harder to correct and needs a lot of training. Cuneiform is wedge shaped and the tablet is sun dried on dried in a kiln. On the computer, you push buttons to get letters. It is a faster way to write. To print, you use ink and typing uses a keyboard. Although typing is better, it is also more expensive. You also use paper instead of clay to print. Typing uses electricity and you need little training. It is also easy to correct and faster send to people. Even though it is hard to write in cuneiform by looking for every letter it is fun doing it in on clay. Scribes in the ancient times must have had a lot of fun working with clay. I know that typing is easier than writing cuneiform but using clay is a lot more fun than just typing.
