USB devices

When we plug a USB for the first time,Windows 7 can often have it ready for you in few seconds. If you have used it before, the wait is even shorter.

Better memory use

Windows 7 has under-the-hood-tune-ups that can boost our PCs overall speed and performance. It uses less memory when it is idle and less graphic memory when we launch and switch between windows. If memory does run low,Ready is an application which can speed up our computer by using storage space on most USB flash drives and flash memory card.

New ways to juggle windows

Windows 7 comes with three most simple yet powerful new features called Shake,Peek and Snap to help us instantly clear through desktop clutter. [pic]

Snap

It is a quick new way to resize open windows, simply by depending them to the edges of our screen.Depending on where we drag the window,we can make it expand vertically, take up the entire screen or appear side by side with another window. [pic]

...Understanding FFTs and Windowing Publish Date: May 04, 2015 Overview Learn about the time and frequency domain, fast Fourier transforms (FFTs), and windowing as well as how you can use them to improve your understanding of a signal. This tutorial is part of the Instrument Fundamentals series. Table of Contents 1. 2. 3. 4. Understanding the Time Domain, Frequency Domain, and FFT Windowing Summary Additional Instrumentation Resources 1. Understanding the Time Domain, Frequency Domain, and FFT The Fourier transform can be powerful in understanding everyday signals and troubleshooting errors in signals. Although the Fourier transform is a complicated mathematical function, it isn’t a complicated concept to understand and relate to your measured signals. Essentially, it takes a signal and breaks it down into sine waves of different amplitudes and frequencies. Let’s take a deeper look at what this means and why it is useful. All Signal Are the Sum of Sines When looking at real-world signals, you usually view them as a voltage changing over time. This is referred to as the time domain. Fourier’s theorem states that any waveform in the time domain can be represented by the weighted sum of sines and cosines. For example, take two sine waves, where one is three times as fast as the other—or the frequency is 1/3 the first signal. When you add them, you can see you get a different signal. Figure 1. When you add two signals, you get a new signal. Now...

Use of Visual Basics Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) will be used because it is a programming language built right into many Microsoft programs. This language is built on the Basic programming language made popular by PCs over the past 25 years. VBA shares similarities with other Windows implementations of the Basic language, such as Visual Basic. If you are familiar with programming in a different language (including using macros), you can quickly get up to speed with VBA. There are a few terms you should know before you start programming in VBA: * Procedure. A section of programming code, designed to accomplish a specific task, which your program statements can use throughout your program. There are two types of procedures: functions and subroutines. * Function. A procedure that returns a value after it completes its task. When called, functions typically appear on the right side of an equal sign in an expression. * Subroutine. A procedure that does not return a value after it completes its task. * Module. A named collection of procedures. You typically attach modules to specific forms or reports. You can accomplish many tasks simply by using macros. This implies--and correctly so--that not everyone needs to use VBA. As a general rule, if you can accomplish a task by using macros, do so...

...Windows Programming Assignment No.1 Group 4 Submitted To: Submitted By: E.R. Mandeep Kumar Zennia 81307113049 I.T. Q.NO.1 What is device context? Explain how it is used. Ans. Device Context: A data structure in Windows programming that is used to define the attributes of text and images that are output to the screen or printer. The device context (DC) is maintained by GDI. A DC, which is a handle to the structure, is obtained before output is written and released after the elements have been written. One of the advantages of windows is its device independence. Device independence means that same program should be able to work using different devices like keyboard, screen, printer etc without modification to the program. Windows take care of the hardware allowing the programmer to concentrate on the program itself. How is it used: Windows program do not send data directly to the screen or printer. Instead, the program contains a handle (ID value) for the screen or printer’s device context. The output data is sent to the device context (DC) and then windows take care of sending it to the real hardware. The part of windows that converts the windows graphics function calls to the...

Information on 8086

...architecture. Knowing the differences between the various 8086-based processors can help you select the appropriate target processor for your programs. The instruction set of the 8086 processor is upwardly compatible with its successors. To write code that runs on the widest number of machines, select the 8086 instruction set. By using the instruction set of a more advanced processor, you increase the capabilities and efficiency of your program, but you also reduce the number of systems on which the program can run. Processor Modes Real mode allows only one process to run at a time. The mode gets its name from the fact that addresses in real mode always correspond to real locations in memory. The MS-DOS operating system runs in real mode. Windows 3.1 operates only in protected mode, but runs MS-DOS programs in real mode or in a simulation of real mode called virtual-86 mode. In protected mode, more than one process can be active at any one time. The operating system protects memory belonging to one process from access by another process; hence the name protected mode. Protected-mode addresses do not correspond directly to physical memory. Under protected-mode operating systems, the processor allocates and manages memory dynamically. Additional privileged instructions initialize protected mode and control multiple processes. 8086...

...engineering problems. The language itself bears some similarities with ANSI C and FORTRAN. MATLAB works with three types of windows on your computer screen. These are the Command window, the Figure window and the Editor window. The Figure window only pops up whenever you plot something. The Editor window is used for writing and editing MATLAB programs (called M-files) and can be invoked in Windows from the pull-down menu after selecting File | New | M-file. In UNIX, the Editor window pops up when you type in the command window: edit filename (‘filename’ is the name of the file you want to create). The command window is the main window in which you communicate with the MATLAB interpreter. The MATLAB interpreter displays a command >> indicating that it is ready to accept commands from you. • View the MATLAB introduction by typing >> intro at the MATLAB prompt. This short introduction will demonstrate some basic MATLAB commands. • Explore MATLAB’s help capability by trying the following: >> help >> help plot >> help ops >> help arith • Type demo and explore some of the demos of MATLAB commands. • You can use the command window as a calculator, or you can use it to call other MATLAB programs (M-files). Nt1110 Module 1 Lab

...The Purpose and Functions of an Operating System The operating system (OS) is software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is an essential component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function. Time-sharing operating systems schedule tasks for efficient use of the system and may also include accounting software for cost allocation of processor time, mass storage, printing, and other resources. For hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware, although the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware and frequently makes a system call to an OS function or be interrupted by it. Operating systems can be found on many devices that contain a computer—from cellular phones and video game consoles to supercomputers and web servers. Examples of popular modern operating systems include Android, BSD, iOS, Linux, OS X, QNX, Microsoft Windows, Windows Phone, and IBM z/OS.. History 1. Windows - The first Windows system was released in 1985. Originally, it was just a graphical user interface on top of MS-DOS – a state of affairs that lasted until the release of Windows 95, when MS-DOS products were integrated into Windows.
