Furious 7 Introduction
Furious 7 is a high pace and action-pack movie starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker (his last film before his untimely death), Dwayne Johnson, and Jason Statham. It was produced by Neil Moritz, Vin Diesel, and Michael Fottrell. It was directed by James Wan and written by Chris Morgan. The release date of Furious 7 was April 2015. This is the seventh movie installed in The Fast and The Furious franchise. James Wan, who directed this film, is known for horror movies took the place of Justin Lin, who left after doing the previous four installments. Discussion of the Film
After defeating Owen Shaw in the last movie franchise, His older brother, Decker Shaw (Jason Statham) wants revenge for his dead brother. He decides to chase the team down by killing Han in Tokyo and try to take out Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Dom (Vin Diesel), and rest of the team in Los Angeles. They go tracking Decker Shaw where they meet Mr. Nobody (Kirk Russell) who is head of a covert ops team. They make an agreement where they can rescue a hacker computer name Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) and in return, he will help them get Shaw. This is typical action adventure movie with a lot of fight scenes like at the beginning where Shaw tries to take out Hobbs in his office downtown Los Angeles. The fight scene was dramatic and at the end of the fight, Shaw drops a grenade towards Hobbs. Happens that Elena Nieves (Elsa Pataky) was close by the grenade and Hobbs had to grab her and jump out of the window falling about eight stories down on a parked car. The women fight scene was also a classic typical action scene where the bodyguard of the billionaire from Abu Dhabi (Rhonda Rousey) and Lettie (Michelle Rodriquez). Editing
The end of the movie, they had to edit so they can do a tribute to the late Paul Walker. I felt that was very necessary for not only the actors who played in the franchise with him but for the audience who supported him throughout the franchise. It was a tribute to a man who put a lot into playing into this franchise and showing him riding off away from Dom. It was a very fitting tribute to him. Sounds
The sounds were spectacular in this movie. There were lots of explosives sounds with the grenades going off, the sounds of car engines from the muscle cars, helicopter sounds towards the end of the movie, gunfire throughout the film, car crashes, fight scenes had plenty of sounds of punches being thrown and landed. The sounds throughout the film made it seem so realistic. When the building was crumbling down towards the end of the movie, the sounds of the building sound like I was right there when it was happening. Score
The score of the movie was made by Brian Tyler. One scene where they were rescuing Ramsey from the mercenary (Djimon Hounsou) the score to the scene was very appropriate for that scene. It made it more intense and anticipated what's going to end up happening. Most of the scores in the movie were at proper moments when something is happening or getting ready to happen or during a fight scene. Cinematography
The cinematography was spectacular especially the shots from Abu Dhabi. The scenery was great with the desert shots when they were driving their cars through there. It supported the tone as they went looking for the Gods Eye and end up crashing a party at a billionaire's condo. The tone first was like a relaxed tone as they searched and planned on how they were to get the Gods Eye. The mood was more of a casual laid back just like the scenery. The large framing of when the cars were driving off the planes was great. That was a tense moment for the crew coming off the aircraft. Social Context
The social context of the movie was made the early part when Decker Shaw made his presence in the hospital visiting his comatose brother who was put there by Dominic Torreto and his team. I already knew his intentions was revenge against the people who apparently put him there. When he went to Hobb's office and then went killed Han and try again on Dom, Mia, and Brian, it was obvious that it was set for revenge. The beginning and ending parts of this movie was set in Los Angeles, and there is where the team met up at after Dom Came back with Han's Body from Tokyo. Meaning of the Film
In this seventh movie of this franchise, it was more about revenge for Decker Shaw for his brother Owen Shaw who they almost took out from the sixth movie of this franchise. At the same time, it was about Dom and his crew stopping someone who is hunting him and his team down like animals just for revenge. With the team collaborating with Mr. Nobody, leader of the covert ops team, Dom and his team added mission in rescuing a hacker computer name Ramsey from a mercenary. It meant peace for Dom and his team from Decker Shaw. Opinion
My personal influence or bias towards the movie is that I wanted to see how they would right off Paul Walker's character from the movie. The way they done the tribute to him at the end of the movie was very classy, and I do applaud them for how they edited the final scenes just for Paul Walker. Rating This Movie
This movie was very enjoyable. The scenes of Abu Dhabi, downtown Los Angeles, Dominion Republic (a couple of scenes), and in the mountains were spectacular. The action was non-stop with Decker Shaw is always where Dominic Torreto is at. The fight scenes were amazing, and the cars were, of course, classy and fast. For me, the fight scene with the women in the condo at a billionaire's party in Abu Dhabi was amazing. The end fight with Shaw and Dom was great also with the building collapsing on Shaw. The rescue to get Ramsey was spectacular with the cars coming from the planes in parachutes. I will recommend this movie to people who loves a good action adventure or even thriller movie. I will give this five stars for the acting, the script, the editing especially the final scenes, and sceneries. Conclusion
I am ready for a Fast and The Furious 8 which is rumored to be in 2017. This movie was cast right; I was surprised that James Wan pulled this job off considering he done nothing but horror films and had to work on the death of Paul Walker. I would give him an award just for the work he done with this movie. What he did to edit some of the movie adding Paul Walker's brother Cody into the film was excellent, using Cody with adding Paul's face to it is speechless. Altogether it is worth watching over and over again.
