Gap Analysis Riordan Manufacturing is currently experiencing a decline in employee retention which could further translate into missing deadlines to complete projects, decreased quality of products and sales, and finally a decrease in customer satisfaction. To stop this chain of events, management needs to identify the key issues that the company is experiencing in each sector and implement changes that will reflect the future goals of the company. Management needs to address the employees concerns regarding the future employment with the company due to uncompetitive wages, random performance reviews, and unfair promotion processes. In determining how to reward the contributions of individual employees, managers must consider how various performance-contingent pay practices, including executive stock options, might enhance employee motivation.(Dreher & Dougherty, 2001, p 77). The challenge that management is facing in creating a reward system that will address the main concerns is incorporating the system into the company’s strategic plan, so that it satisfies both the management and the employees. The reward system affects job satisfaction by making the employee more comfortable and contented as a result of the rewards received. The reward system influences motivation primarily through the perceived value of the rewards and their contingency on performance. (Chan, 2007). A reward system that will encompass all employees and their needs and wants is difficult to create and will consume a large amount of company’s resources. When making a recommendation, one wants to compel the company of its importance leave on a high note do not leave the paragraph on a negative.
