The evidence found at the crime scene could have proven to be very valuable and useful but it is unfortunate that a majority of the evidence either wasn’t identified or was contaminated.
Due to the wrongful classification of the crime scene, the officers didn’t know enough to implement proper crime scene protocols. Helgoth had told John Kenady that him and a partner were going to make a “killer deal” with each making about $50,000-$60,000 each. After Christmas, Kenady noticed that Helgoth seemed depressed and even said to him “I wonder what it would be like to crack a human skull”. Kenady wanted no part in that conversation and when he had read in the paper about JonBenét and saw the amount in the ransom note, he went to the police.
