There are 17,900,00 orphans around the world who have lost both parents. These children are in orphanages or on the street and they need healthy development, which they don’t have. For they have to fend for themselves in both situations and neither situation is ideal, either the children are all alone or they are surrounded by many other children and they don’t get the care they deserve and need. Everybody should have the right to adopt these children and give them better lives and help their development, no matter of the adopter’s sexuality. Everybody should be for gay adoption because it gets kids out of orphanages, gives them good homes, and gives the child a family.

Studies show that children who are adopted by gay couples can be “healthier and happier” than their peers. Also, another article states that, “Gay parents ‘tend to be more motivated, more committed than heterosexual parents on average, because they chose to be parents,’ said Abbie Goldberg, a psychologist at Clark University in Massachusetts who researches gay and lesbian parenting’. Homosexual parents did not have their child on accident like about half of heterosexual parents do. So, contrary to many people’s beliefs, the child will not be “warped” in any way, shape, or form. Although if someone considers gay warped they need to take a step back and see that it is not their place to concern themselves with other people’s lives and who they are married to. One gay couple was not allowed to adopt the child they had fostered for years because the biological family, who had already said they didn’t want the child and had given up all of their rights in the child’s life, didn’t want the child to live with a gay couple. First of all, if you really loved your child you would be happy for them, going to a new home where they will be loved and well cared for. Second of all, they had already given up the child so they should have no say in what becomes of him/her. Many people will most likely define “traditional” as a mother, father, and a brother or sister. But the truth is that a “traditional” upbringing may not be the most healthy. Just because a child is thought to have had a traditional upbringing does not mean that they had a better childhood than people with gay parents. One article states, “A number of clinical reports detail "acting-out behavior," homosexual seduction, elective muteness and the desire for a mother by children with homosexual parents. I am unaware of a single child being disturbed because his mother and father were married”. These are very opinionated statements and based on personal experiences, first of all. Next, children can, and do, “act out” when they have heterosexual parents and they can have “selective muteness” because they are unhappy at home, teachers are rude or mean, or because of bullying from other children. It can only be assumed why children do these things and it is based on personal opinion; in personal experience when someone assumes something they will only look for details supporting their argument and ignore all the other facts and statistics that are available to them.
