Gay Marriage Ruins the Current Stellar Institution of Marriage
Starting with the last prompt of the assignment, according to our textbook, “Win-win orientations assume that there are usually ways to resolve differences so that everyone gains…When all people are committed to finding a mutually acceptable solution, a win-win resolution is possible” (Wood, 2009, p. 230). Unfortunately, here is the precise problem with the religious zealots who call themselves Christians. They are forever stuck in a win-lose orientation. What becomes ludicrous is they believe somehow, the human right to share love with an individual of the same sex in a committed relationship with all of the legal benefits will cause strife for them. None of the gay population is telling them to marry same-sex individual yet they insist, if gays want to marry and raise a family, it must be with someone of the opposite sex. Heterosexuals are doing such an exemplary job of getting marriage right that is common knowledge the divorce rate hovers around fifty percent. The point here is the INSTITUION OF MARRIAGE has been in the toilet for quite some time now and the only thing extending the legal right to gay couples will do is boost the economy with fabulously lavish weddings and then the inevitable lining of divorce lawyers’ pockets.
Cynical humor is part of the gay culture’s way of dealing with the repression and secret hiding in the closet which is still prevalent. Gays so not want to steal your husbands or sons or raise gay children. Although in some ways society is becoming more accepting, gay children suffer much more from bullying than do straight children. Most gays just want to live a happy live with all the rights (not privileges-driving is a privilege) others have. Gays do not want the bible thumpers to lose at all, but rather just be happy in their ignorant delusions amongst their own peeps. We come from place of pointing out how preposterous the “other side” can be as illustrated at The Huffington Post in “an effort to ‘keep straight couples from getting divorced and hating their children,’ [all should] check out this hilarious video from ‘the coalition of people whose lives are ruined whenever other people are treated equally’” ('The Ultimate Anti-Gay Marriage Ad' , 2013).
The religious right (wrong) somehow see it as the end of days. Some groups feel it is their mission to save sinners. Some who are not persecuting the gays say they love gays regardless of their sinning ways. That group should actually be thanking the gays for allowing them the opportunity to love sinners as their god promotes that particular path to heaven. Above I wrote this opposing group sees it as a win-lose situation because they lose when gays win the opportunity to have a basic human right. It is interesting that some of the more zealous groups see gay marriage as a lose-lose situation. After all it is the apocalypse and the world is going to hell. Now why they cannot be satisfied with their notion that those who are not chosen (gays being just one group depending on the perspective of the crazies) will not rise again and forever be condemned to eternal damnation is beyond my comprehension. Here is the win-win situation: Gays will live a happy life married to those they want to marry and then burn in hell to pay for their sins. The zealots can rest easy knowing that, in fact, judgment is truly God’s job so they have nothing about which to be concerned. Well maybe they should worry about how pissed off He is going to be about them thinking they could do His job.

Living History

...___________________________ LIVING HISTORY Hillary Rodham Clinton Simon & Schuster New York • London • Toronto • Sydney • Singapore To my parents, my husband, my daughter and all the good souls around the world whose inspiration, prayers, support and love blessed my heart and sustained me in the years of living history. AUTHOR’S NOTE In 1959, I wrote my autobiography for an assignment in sixth grade. In twenty-nine pages, most half-filled with earnest scrawl, I described my parents, brothers, pets, house, hobbies, school, sports and plans for the future. Forty-two years later, I began writing another memoir, this one about the eight years I spent in the White House living history with Bill Clinton. I quickly realized that I couldn’t explain my life as First Lady without going back to the beginning―how I became the woman I was that first day I walked into the White House on January 20, 1993, to take on a new role and experiences that would test and transform me in unexpected ways. By the time I crossed the threshold of the White House, I had been shaped by my family upbringing, education, religious faith and all that I had learned before―as the daughter of a staunch conservative father and a more liberal mother, a student activist, an advocate for children, a lawyer, Bill’s wife and Chelsea’s mom. For each chapter, there were more ideas I wanted to discuss than space allowed; more people to include than could be named; more places visited than could be described...

Smoozing

...Customized for: Isaac (illin@mednet.ucla.edu) THE INTRODUCTION Vault Guide to Schmoozing Customized for: Isaac (illin@mednet.ucla.edu) 2 © 2009 Vault.com, Inc. Introduction What does schmoozing sound like to you? Maybe it sounds smug, unctuous, oily, slimy. It sounds, quite frankly, like 'oozing.' Schmoozing is far from slimy, but 'oozing' actually isn’t a bad description of what a schmoozer does. A schmoozer slides into opportunities where none are apparent, developing friendships from the slightest of acquaintances. Through formless, oozy, schmoozy action, a schmoozer moves slowly but inexorably towards his or her goals. What is schmoozing? Schmoozing is noticing people, connecting with them, keeping in touch with them — and benefiting from relationships with them. Schmoozing is about connecting with people in a mutually productive and pleasurable way — a skill that has taken on new importance in our fragmented, harried, fiber-optic-laced world. Schmoozing is the development of a support system, a web of people you know who you can call, and who can call you, for your mutual benefit and enjoyment. Schmoozing is the art of semi-purposeful conversation: half chatter, half exploration. Schmoozing is neither project nor process. It's a way of life. How does schmoozing differ from networking? Conventional networking is the clammy science of collecting business cards ad infinitum, of cold-calling near strangers to grill them about possible openings in their places...

The World in 2008

...EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION Two big events will frame the year ahead: America’s presidential election and the summer Olympic games in Beijing. The race for the White House will be a marathon, from the front-loaded primary season in January and February to the general election in November. The betting is that the winner will be a Democrat—with a strong chance that a Clinton will again be set to succeed a Bush as leader of the free world. China, meanwhile, will hope to use the Olympics to show the world what a splendid giant it has become. It will win the most gold medals, and bask in national pride and the global limelight. But it will also face awkward questions on its repressive politics. America and China will be prime players in the matters that will concentrate minds around the world in 2008. One of these is the world economy, which can no longer depend on America, with its housing and credit woes, to drive growth. America should—just—avoid recession, but it will be China (for the first time the biggest contributor to global growth) along with India and other emerging markets that will shine. Another focus of attention will be climate change. As China replaces America as the world’s biggest producer of greenhouse gases, serious efforts on global warming depend on the serious involvement of those two countries. If 2007 was the year when this rose to the top of the global agenda, in 2008 people will expect action. It is striking that green is a theme that links all the contributions...

Quiet: Power of Introverts

It dispels the myth that you have to be extroverted to be happy and successful.” —JUDITH ORLOFF, M.D., author of Emotional Freedom “In this engaging and beautifully written book, Susan Cain makes a powerful case for the wisdom of introspection. She also warns us ably about the downside to our culture’s noisiness, including all that it risks drowning out. Above the din, Susan’s own voice remains a compelling presence—thoughtful, generous, calm, and eloquent. Quiet deserves a very large readership.” —CHRISTOPHER LANE, author of Shyness: How Normal Behavior Became a Sickness 4/929 “Susan Cain’s quest to understand introversion, a beautifully wrought journey from the lab bench to the motivational speaker’s hall, offers convincing evidence for valuing substance over style, steak over sizzle, and qualities that are, in America, often derided. This book is brilliant...

...FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE BESTSELLING BIOGRAPHIES OF BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND ALBERT EINSTEIN, THIS IS THE EXCLUSIVE BIOGRAPHY OF STEVE JOBS. Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing. At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering. Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing offlimits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and...
