Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence
GEN/200

Research Strategy Paper on the Lack of Self-Confidence Johnson Pope, an English poet, said, “Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.” However, I definitely do not have that quality. Self-confidence describes a person who has faith on themselves. A problem that affects me every day is my lack of self-confidence. My self-confidence affects me in my decision making, career, and social skills. It also affects me when I am passing up opportunities that can be rewarding. An example how my self-confidence affects me is when I will not stand a chance competing against another person. I do not do well in a challenge. I give in easily. I doubt about myself and my abilities to do any task. The fear of rejection and failure hunts me every day. My lack of self-confidence overly preoccupies me with what others think. What I need to do is build confidence and take charge of my life to overcome my problem. One of the methods I can use to work on my self-confidence is looking for a support group. They are a lot of internet support groups or blogs about self-confidence that I can rely for support. I feel that if I can share my feelings without face-to-face time, I can open up more to my feelings and assist me better. Another place that I can use to gather information is to see a Psychologist. Psychologists are trained individuals and with a tremendous amount of experience that can be use in assist me in finding a solution. Therapy is a great tool. You can talk to someone who can listen to you and little by little open up without fear of criticism. Support blogs are full of opinioned information. In order to use information to build my self-confidence in the support blogs, I will have to be evaluating very carefully the information that is put out due to the fact they are not trained doctors. However, I will take into account their experience. Their experience is what is going to help me build my confidence. I believe this because they are going to share situations where they lack self-confidence and maybe they will write about what they will have changed if it happens again. I will then take it into account. In a support blog there is also feedback to you, if you welcome it. If you think about it, support blogs are the best for feedback. The reason why is that you do not have face-to-face time and is a stranger given you supported information, which you will be able to accept easily. People who lack self-confidence don’t do well with criticism. However, if I write to a stranger I deal with criticism a lot better. As mention before, psychologist is another avenue I can take to get assistance in my self-confidence. In order to find the right psychologist, you have to evaluate and find the right Psychologist for you. According to the American Physiological Association in order to find a psychologist, they recommend to ask your physician or another health professional or call your local or state psychological association. The America Physiological Association also recommends talking to family and friends for recommendations, and you might consider inquiring at your church or synagogue. It is very important to find the right psychologist you feel confident to assist you with my self-confidence. My plan is to listen to my comfort level when evaluating a psychologist for me. When I do find the right psychologist for me, I will get to know my Physiologist. Then, when I get comfortable to speak of everything I will start asking questions of the kind of things I need to do to overcome my lack of self-confidence. For evaluation of the doctor’s answers, I will use common sense to see if it fits to me. I will also try it and see if it works. Physiologists have abundance of schooling so everything that they say I will take into account. However, I will take into account my plan and then take out what does not work for me. In conclusion, I found that my self-confidence does affect my life but not much to go see a Psychologist. My solution is to first use the support blogs to find tips from other people who experience the same thing I do. If the support blog doesn’t work then I will use the second method which is to see a Physiologist. I want to overcome my self-confidence. In order to be a confident individual, confidence can be divided into four components: credibility, clarity, control and competence (Harris 2009). I want to have all this traits to make better decision making, a superb career and have social skills.

...Personal Ethical Statement Corrie Robinson GEN/200 7/12/2014 LaTishia Wheaton MS/AJS Personal Ethical Statement My preferred ethical lens is results and reputation. People who have this lens are reported to listen to their intuition, and to determine the greater good for everyone’s character traits and virtues that will better serve the community. My blind spot is unrealistic role expectations. Meaning that I tend to not be accountable to those who depend on me as long as I have satisfied my own needs. This behavior leads to complacency, leaving problems unresolved in the long-term, and leaving people on their own fending for themselves. I also tend to rely too heavily on virtues associated with people’s roles in life forgetting that people are human and can make mistakes despite their role. According to my ethical lens, I show strength in free will and compassion. I contribute self-reliance and accountability to my environment. I am not afraid to pursue my passions. I also like to help and encourage the people that are around me to pursue their passion’s as well. According to my ethical lens, I also possess the ability to put myself in other people’s shoes and take an objective view of their personal lives and challenges while living my own life and fulfilling my personal responsibilities within my role. If I don not assure myself that everyone has free will, I run the risk of reducing my decisions off of narrow and financial......

...Personal Responsibility GEN/200 August 9, 2012 Personal Responsibility Although many people do not stop to think what personal responsibility really truly means to them, they have never realized that living without it could not only jeopardize their way of life and career goals, but also their relationship with others. I like to believe that I live with personal responsibility every day just to live happily and to help me succeed in my goals. I have set goals in the past and achieved them using my experience as a female veteran and as an adult. It has been proven that if an individual does not have a grip on responsibilities, then they do not have a grip on self-esteem and self-worth (Morling, Rothbaum, & Rusk, 2009). When an individual that does not have personal responsibility, their personal life could really lack fulfillment and pleasure. An individual that is lacking personal responsibility cannot live to their full potential and have everything they have ever wanted on a mental and material level. If a person lacks a main aspect to live the right way, they cannot become satisfied with their life and are not doing anything to take charge of the problems that they have acquired along the way from incompetence. If there is a lack responsibility, then they do not have any confidence (Clouder, 2009). Confidence is a feeling that anyone should have about life as an adult. An individual might find it hard to take charge of their life the way they want to......

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Foundations for General Education and Professional Success GEN 200 University of Phoenix Dr. Janice Carter-Steward, Instructor January 25, 2010 We all different. No one person has the same personality or learning style. This is what makes the world uniquely balanced. The mystery is learning to accept and recognize these learning styles and personality types. In various occupations, sometimes we are forced to interactive and collaborate with other individuals that do and see things in very different ways. It is then our goal to identify their strengths and weaknesses that will improve the success of the team and overall work performance. Challenges will always exist among individuals that work together, but having good communication and collaboration will benefit all those involved. Learning styles, personality type and time management used to be merely educational jargons for me. Little did I know that all of those components were directly related to the learning process. While reading and performing various assessments, I have recognized several learning styles, their functions and how they contribute to great team work and support. I have explored the learning skills of The Interpersonal, The Visual-Spatial and The Logical-Mathematical Learners. These individuals bring several needed skills to small groups and team projects. The Interpersonal is one who actually likes and enjoys team......

...GEN 200 3/3/13 I determined the sources for my essay to be reliable because they came from some credible sites. One of my sources came from a .com website that is from a college library. The other came from a .org which I find reliable as it is a well-established organization. Finally my third choice for a source is a .edu that is from a research institute. I also did a little research on the authors and they were all well established and respected writers which would also make my research more reliable. All three of my selections were relevant because they were all on the same subject of responsibility as my essay is on personal responsibility. My sources were also all fairly recent the oldest of the three was written in 1994 but I still find the information very useful and it still applies with these modern times. The other two sources were a little newer one was written in 2009 and the other was written in 2013. One of my sources which is The Heritage foundation that is a .org website is a very conservative organization and that would tell me that the author would have a bias based on his political views. Another website I used which is Brookings institute is a .edu and their views seem to me are more towards the liberal side and would also have a bias because of their beliefs. My third choice was geared more towards a law standpoint. I think the information I have used in my essay will do more to strengthen my essay because it all backs up my thesis...

...Money Management Korey A. White GEN/200 November 17, 2010 Abstract Managing money by putting a certain percentage of your income in categorized accounts gives you a better understanding of where your money is going. There are three account types I have chosen for this paper. Financial Independence Account, which is for retirement. The Fun Account, which is used to reward myself for working. Then there is the Life Expenses account used for everyday life activities and needs. Upon reading this paper you will have a clear understanding of how these accounts play a role in helping me manage my money. Money Management Managing my money is my day-to-day problem. When I was in the military, I did not have to worry about money management, because I lived on base and ate for free. So the only bills I had were my car payment and my cell phone bill. Because of those being the only bills I had, I was able to go out and splurge and buy whatever I wanted. Now that I am no longer in the military that way of living has stuck with me even though I have more responsibility and less money. After doing some research on how I can start managing my money, I have found three main ways to help me with money management. They are Financial Independence Account, Fun Account, and a Life Expenses Account. Although it is possible to manage money effectively, managing money is difficult when I spend it as fast as I receive it. Developing a Financial Independence Account will......

...Communication and Collaboration Strategy Scott Johnson GEN200 January 24, 2011 Robyann Musil Communication and Collaboration Strategy It is a proven fact that people have different learning styles and based on my results from the pathways to learning assessment, I have identified three learning styles to discuss. The three learning styles that I will address are intrapersonal, interpersonal, and bodily-kinesthetic. An intrapersonal learner is someone that is independent, has strong opinions about certain things, and prefers to work alone. For example, to learn a football playbook, the strategy that I would use for effective communication and collaboration in this learning style would be to have the intrapersonal learner work alone with video tapes of football plays from the playbook. Next, an interpersonal learner prefers to work in a group, enjoys helping others, and is good at making people feel comfortable and understanding people so the strategy that I would use for this type of learner would be to have the learner work with his teammates in the film room studying and examining the variety of plays and giving pointers on different plays and how to improve the plays. The bodily-kinesthetic learner learns better by body movements, is uncomfortable sitting still, and enjoys working with his or her hands. For the bodily-kinesthetic learner, the strategy that I would use for this learner would be to use a hands-on approach going through the motions of various......

...Functions of Management Paper Billy Reese Mgmt/330 March 8, 2010 Kelly Wagner Functions of Management There are four functions of management that need to be implemented in order for any organization and its management team to be successful. The four functions are, planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All four functions are vital to running a smooth corporation or business. The first function is Planning. Planning is an ongoing process that never stops. There are always incidents that will arise in which objectives may have to be revisited and changed. This function is also called delivering strategic value. Value is another word for money. A company has to meet its users needs. The better the service, the better the value or in other words, the more money you make. The second function of management is getting organized. Management must organize and put into practice the objectives and goals that were planned in the first function. This function will “assemble and coordinate the human, financial, physical, informational and other resources needed to achieve goals” (Bateman, 2009 pg.12). This organizing function is also known as building a dynamic organization. In building this dynamic organization, people will be considered the most valuable resource and only the brightest and best qualified people will be selected to work. Being organized will help the company be flexible and ready to adapt to any outside threat and the......

...Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to become a teacher in order to give children the proper education they deserve. After becoming a mother, I felt it was extremely important to return to school and achieve my goals, so my children can see that anything is possible once the mind is set on achieving the goal. Since that time I make it a point to checkout some of the associations and national councils that are in the education field. The one association that provides me with the most information is the National Education Association (NEA). “The National Education Association is the largest teachers’ organization, with 2.5 million members. The organization was founded in 1857 as the National Teacher’s Association (NTA). In 1870 the NTA united with the National Association of School Superintendents, to form the National Education Association. In 1886 it was incorporated in the District of Columbia as the National Education Association and was chartered in 1906 by Congress” ” (Johnson, Musial, Hall, Gollnick, & Dupis, 2005, p. 476-477). As we can see this association has existed for many years and will be around for many more. The NEA contributes many different aspects to the world of education. The website is an excellent tool to use to gather information and insight into what is going on with the NEA. Under Issues and Actions the tab has various topics in which they are either fighting for or have come up with an action plan for. A topic which is always up......

...Personal Responsibility Fit in our society, meet the society standard, achieve any goal or common duty, even do anything as mandatory by our society. Those are few thinks that pass through my mind when I think on Personal Responsibilities. Even thinking on the single word “Responsibility” sounds like something it has to be done; somebody has to take care of something. A simple definition by a random website for Personal Responsibility is: the choices and obligations we make in life. If we look at the random website definition show it above; it has two very important concepts; Choices and Obligations. Every person in this life has the privilege to make choices, and paradoxically, obligations. No matter what we decide to do, there is always choices and obligation for each thing. Even going ironically, sometimes there are the choices to have no obligation at all. Most dramatic is when a choice could bring any obligation. Using this last sentence, let’s talk about Education. One of personal choices is go to college to have some professional education. Like I said, it was my choice, made it by my-self. As soon I made this choice there are a bunch of obligations up. If I want to be successfully in college I have to be responsible and follow some personal rules to achieve that. Nobody is going to accomplish nothing for me. That is why I got to obligate my-self to fulfill my responsibilities in college to achieve what my choice was. That’s how I relate personal responsibility......

...Becoming The Best Student Name GEN/200 Date Professor whoever Becoming The Best Student In life, each person is individually responsible for whether he or she succeed or fail. There are certain factors that can not be overcome, such as having a disability or not having access to a school system. Everyone has the ability to adapt and overcome, and to make the best of his or her own lives. I believe that some people sell themselves short, whether it be laziness or lack of motivation. Three obstacles that can affect a student are time, money, and finding a purpose to achieve a certain goal. To become the best student in college, the person needs to hold himself/herself personally responsible for his/her actions, and to set individual goals. Time Restraints “Each is responsible for his own actions” (H.L. Hunt, 1889-1974). The challenge that is most common when someone is trying to go back to school is time. Everyone is usually so busy juggling work, children, chores, and so on that they believe they do not have enough time to spend focusing on attending a college and doing homework. Finding solutions for this is the best approach. Find what it is you do with your free time that can be diverted toward school. Whether it be Sunday football or bowling with the friends, something can usually be cut out of his/her schedule in order to prioritize for......

...Rough Draft for Personal Responsibility Essay My Life, My Education, My Choice Personal responsibility is a direct choice in one’s life. It takes a conscience effort to be responsible to yourself and to others in any situation whether it be academically on just all-around in whatever life experience one goes through. The direct definition of responsibility states that the person is accountable for their own actions within their control. Within everything that a person does, they make their own choices and those choices have consequences whether they are good or bad is dependant upon the choice that they made in the first place. As a student the same applies whether you choose to cheat or do the assignment to the best of your ability the consequences are going to show. Personal responsibility is a must have for any occurrence in life. However, in a college setting it seems to hold more merit to be the best student one can be. When one upholds their choices and takes responsibility for them it will reflect in the amount of success that one encounters. Success is a measurement of prosperity from tried attempts or endeavors. As a college student, success is directly related to the amount of personal responsibility and effort that is put into the classes and coursework. There is so much more merit in a given grade that one has earned through hard work and dedication than there is in one that was received from an assignment that a student lacked integrity on. To have......
