Project Paper Rough Draft

In this paper I will be talking about discriminations towards women in the workplace. Now when talking about discrimination I know that there are so many forms that I need to focus on just one, to get my point across, so I choose sexual harassment towards women in the workplace. Is there still sexual harassment with woman? What constitutes sexual harassment? How is sexual harassment towards women different between now and 50 years ago? These are the questions I hope to ask and hopefully answer throughout this paper.
What constitutes sexual harassment? Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexually determined behavior as physical contact and advances, sexually colored remarks, showing pornography and sexual demands, whether by words or actions. Such conduct can be humiliating and may constitute a health and safety problem; it is discriminatory when the woman has reasonable ground to believe that her objection would disadvantage her in connection with her employment, including recruitment or promotion, or when it creates a hostile working environment. With this it is also considered to be that submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment; submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual; or such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment.
Is there still sexual harassment with woman? In the article “SEXUAL HARASSMENT VERSUS WORKPLACE ROMANCE: SOCIAL MEDIA SPILLOVER AND TEXTUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE,” written by Lisa A Mainiero, and Kevin J. Jones; reviews the relevant literature on workplace romance and sexual harassment policies. I mean there is a difference, but when you have a workplace romance, and you break it off does that mean that any attempt to reconcile with the lady is considered sexual harassment, or what? Where is the line drawn and how can it be made clearer. Then there is the point in the article where they talk about "Textual harassment"--sending offensive or inappropriate text messages to coworkers-- is on the rise (Baldas, 2009; Hunton & Williams LLP, 2009; Parker-Pope, 2011). Now this is mainly dealing with contemporary social media technologies such as; Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, blogs, and Instagram. They all carry numerous risks associated with personal and professional connectivity, privacy, and intimacy, and these risks require a new look at policy formulation concerning the boundaries of workplace romance versus harassment in the Internet age. They even talk about using the concept of "love contracts" to aid human resource professionals, legal experts, and romantic couples concerning the risks of social media spillover and harassment from romance in the office. So where does romance end and sexual harassment begin? I think it ends and begins with the word NO! I also think that on some unconscious level, some women want to be noticed, and therefore end up being sexually harassed. Is it right? No, of course not, but it’s like a jungle out there, and men are usually on the hunt.
How is sexual harassment towards women different between now and 50 years ago? After reading “The Road to Equality for Women in the United States” written and published by Ms. Foundation for Women. It talks about a woman who born 50 years ago and how things have changed drastically since then. 50 years ago, if a woman was to work she would get absolutely no respect, and at times was thought to be inferior. So she would be groped, physically and sometimes emotionally abused and harassed. As we have moved forward, and women on some levels have taken over the workforce industry on any and all levels, there are still degrees of sexual harassment in the workplace. Now days there are precautions in place to protect women and their rights when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace. They have instituted rules and laws to protect all women in the workplace so they know that they don’t have to be scared to come forth, or be afraid of retaliation. In conclusion, sexual harassment has been along for longer than me, and I am afraid that it will survive and be around for way after I am gone and no longer here. The truth is I long for the day when women will no longer have to worry about it in the workplace, but for that to happen men have to grow up and stop being so sensitive about being turned down, or just remember that the workplace is just for that work and nothing else. Plus there are those women who give other a bad name and they need to start earning on merits and not looks or sexual advances. But that is in an ethical and right world, and we don’t live in it, so until we do mature as a society and as the human race, all I can say is good luck ladies.

...Cory Blane Mr. Crisp Research Methods July 22, 2013 Is Marijuana a Gateway Drug? Abstract: Is marijuana a gateway drug? If so what leads to people doing it and other drugs? In this paper I hope to find out by showing and expressing the point of views of current marijuana users, along with those who are known to have to do or to have done stronger drugs such as crack, and cocaine. I plan to utilize the options of surveys and to redo or basically jump into an overt observational form of a focus group by joining in with smokers and talking with them about how they began and what other drugs they may have used. I will use some information from a literary review that talks about the science of how and why people go from one drug to another. I also plan to not only use personal information from my own experiences but also information from documentaries that have been done on the subject at a whole. Introductory paragraphs: There are several aspects to this theory which is what makes society so against marijuana. They naturally believe that it is a gateway drug, not because of any solid proof, but because of society and government have programed into people’s minds. I am sort of bias in this fact though mainly because I am an ex pot smoker and most of the people that I know smoke or do some type of drugs including marijuana either for medical or personal reasons. Early overview: I. Express the point of views of current marijuana users, along with those who are known...
