Gloria Anzaldua is an author, cultural theorist, and feminist philosopher, who was born in a town called Raymondville, Texas , she was the oldest of four children and the sixth-generation of Mexican-American rancher-farmers. As an infant Gloria was diagnosed with a hormonal disorder that triggers premature puberty, and monthly menses from the age of six. This condition set Gloria to be physiologically different from people at school, which eventually motivated her social work and her desire to create new forms of inclusionary communities.
