ABSTRACT
Cloud Computing is the hot topic in today’s World. Cloud computing comes with the great advantage of providing higher energy savings, a fact which translates into being environmentally friendly. In the last few years, technology has improved immensely, taking the environment into account and providing a solution for those worrying about carbon footprints and the impact of technology into the environment.
In the last couple of decades, HR has re-invented itself from the mundane activities like Industrial Relations, labour etc. to the front of a Company’s Business radar on par with Marketing, Finance, Administration and other departments. HR managers today use hundreds of strategic and collaborative technology tools to keep up the HR function fast moving. But lot of these technology tools is not implemented in a large number of Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) who forms 75% of our country’s market. Why? If the 19th century was the agricultural century, and the 20th century was the century of manufacturing, then the 21st century is surely the communications century. Hundreds of millions of people are being pulled from poverty around the world – in particular in China and India. As we pass this milestone of fundamental human development we can turn to higher aspirations and goals beyond basic human needs and enrich our society through development of Information Technology. This will deliver increasing luxury in entertainment, education, information and communications. The physical goods industries lay the foundations of our modern economy; now Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and cloud computing can help enable the full flowering of human potential. A large percentage of global GDP is reliant on ICT – this is a critical issue as we strive to decouple economic growth from emissions......

...complex and expensive. Cloud computing services has been gaining significant importance due to its characteristics of making IT infrastructure and resources more agile, has reduced dependency on device and location, enhance performance and productivity with several other benefits. The basic meaning of cloud computing is the storing and accessing of data and programs over internet rather than one’s computer’s hard drive. The cloud is defined as a collection of interconnected IT services and infrastructures, which are accessible through a network (Erl et al., 2013). Cloud computing enables multiple users to share resources, which are located dynamically and used as per the demand. The main aim of cloud computing is that it allows users to use all the technologies, without requiring to have deep knowledge or expertise about each one (Rhoton, 2010). The cloud services aims to reduce the cost of setting up and maintaining IT infrastructure instead it enables the user to concentrate on the core business. Cloud computing services provides the advantage of fewer operational issues, which is a great advantage for the small and medium size businesses since it allows they do not have to own the resources such as servers, software and infrastructure and can use the resources of the service provider. Cloud computing services allow the users to transfer data between different systems without locking the businesses into one provider (Nielsen, 2013). The other advantages of cloud are that it......

Customer Relationship and Corporate Governance in Sustainability of Business

...Customer Relationship and Corporate Governance in Sustainability of Business Vinod Krishna U. Makkimane Sr.Faculty Institute of Business Management & Technology Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bengaluru. Sustainability is a dynamic concept born out of the environmental debate of the last quarter century. There is growing concern nationally and internationally about biodiversity and protection of plants and animals and community based activity. It is important to view sustainable efforts from global perspective that addresses socio-economic and environmental issues.  Sustainable Development as a norm has been accepted in the literature ever since the publication of the Brundtland Commission report in 1987.The Brundtland Commission defined Sustainable Development as that which "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs". A primary goal of sustainable development is to achieve a reasonable and equitably distributed level of economic well being that can be perpetuated continually for many human generations. It also implies using renewable natural resources in a manner that does not eliminate or degrade them, or otherwise diminish their usefulness for future generations. Sustainable development also requires depleting non-renewable energy resources at a slow enough rate so as to ensure the high probability of an orderly society transition to renewable energy sources. Mahatma Gandhi has observed long back......

...Drivers of emerging HR practices Introduction A workplace is diverse in many ways. There are people of all age groups, nationalities, education levels and not to forget, both genders working together. These factors and many more, individually or in combinations bring about change in the traditional HR practices. Thus we can call such factors as the drivers of emerging HR practices. It is important to understand the drivers so that one can make pertinent policies that will help integrate them into the workplace without alienating the remaining workforce. With this in mind, I set out to find the harbingers of change. For my literature review, I narrowed down to a few drivers such as expatriates in the workplace, increased women workforce, the advent of internet, the generation gap and the emergence of Gen Y or the millennial as a force to reckon with. I looked up online journals and databases such as HR Quarterly, Personnel Psychology, Emerald Insight, EBSCO and JSTOR. A search for each of the factors mentioned above was carried out in the said journals and databases. The maximum results came for the topic of Gen Y. A lot of people are trying to understand Gen Y and what makes them tick. Another thing that goes along with Gen Y is the fact that they take to internet like fish to water. There is a lot of extant literature on this phenomenon (Bolton 2013). This paper will be focusing on the contribution of Gen Y to emerging HR practices. Generation Y is roughly defined as......

Case

...KXO223: Systems Acquisition and Implementation Assignment 1, 2013 – Case Studies Tutorial-based group assessments Due: See ‘Due Dates for Case Study Submission’ section Marks: 30% of the total marks for the unit Background – Learning with Cases Harvard University, probably the most famous source of teaching cases, describes these resources as follows: “Teaching cases – also known as case studies – are narratives designed to serve as the basis for classroom discussion. Cases don’t offer their own analysis. Instead, they are meant to test the ability of students to apply the theory they’ve learned to a ‘real world’ situation … where good accounts of specific events can help exemplify and illuminate theory” (Harvard, 2000). The use of cases based on or around real organisations and/or current issues provides an entirely different approach to learning from that of lectures or more conventional tutorial exercises, where students solve specific problems in isolation from the world of business. Case preparation is a significant part of both undergraduate and postgraduate business study – particularly in the English-speaking world – and it is important to learn to do it effectively and efficiently. I have provided two introductory readings to help you with this process: “Learning Information Systems with Cases” (a pdf file available from your KXO223 MyLO resources) and “Notes on Writing a Case Study Report” (included in this document as Appendix A). Please begin by......
