My decision to go to college was influenced by my experiences in school. Since I was a child, I always had the idea implanted in my head that I would attend college. Once I entered high school, I began researching how difficult college actually was. There are so many stories about people who succeeded in college and seemed to have no struggles. A school known for its diversity of class programs, Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, shall grant me the opportunity to obtain my future career. The struggle is hard enough looking for my career, but the requirements to enter are quite hefty too. Not only is there a $75 fee waiver just to register there is also the required grade on two tests (TTU). One is the ACT the other is the SAT and from both of these there is a required grade needed to be made based on class rank. The extraordinary part is that from this point on the requirements, ease down and consists of simple things like official transcripts and a higher GPA than a 3.00 (TTU)....

My Reasons to Go to College

...My Reasons to go to College By XXX Prof. XXX XXX XXX It is very understandable that most parents dream sending their children to college so that they are well prepared for the competitive job market. In my personal case, I have had several obstacles in life that prevented me from finishing college when I was younger, single and childless. The reasons why I have decided to go back to college and get a degree is directly related with my personal and professional life. As a husband and father of two, I realized that a good way to teach my kids what is important in life, what is good and bad, what one should do in a difficult situation and how to be a good example to my family is to go to college and get a degree. I always heard from my parents that we shouldn’t force our kids to go to college just because we believe that is the way to go. I personally believe that if I want to persuade my kids in the future to get an education, then I think I should set myself as an example for them. I know that by getting a college education is no guarantee of success but at least you will become smarter than what you were before you went to college. Furthermore, as a professional accountant with more than 10 years of experience in my field, I realize that going to college is the only way to continue improving my skills, growing within my company and thus get a promotion that will open even more the path to success. And, once I finish my accounting degree, I...

Is College A Place To Go For Ideas?

...Have you ever really thought about how the smartphone was invented? First from flip phones, then to QWERTY phones, and then to smartphones. Perhaps the invention of smartphones was inspired by the quote from Helen Keller, a blind woman that travelled the world helping people (Nielsen 2007), who said, “College isn’t the place to go for ideas.” I agree with Keller, and I believe she meant that college is a place to go so you can gather new information and to learn how to see things in a new perspective. College does not give anybody new ideas; that is left up to the individual. People who went to college gathered information then used creativity to invent the smartphone. Today, I want to tell you about Howard Florey and Julius Petri. These two men went to college and then used the information they learned to come up with ideas. These ideas would soon turn into inventions that would later change the world. So allow me to introduce the first famous scientist Julius Petri....

Why Is It Important To Go Back To College

...When you go off to college, you leave behind some important people in your life. I moved four hours away from my hometown and left my family and my friends behind. Sure, there were some tears shed, and I always said I’d come home to visit and make time for everyone, but turns out, not everyone wanted to make time for me. She and I became friends when we were sixteen. We hit it off immediately when she started working at the same grocery store as me. She had a car, so we’d always go out to dinner or drive around town looking for an adventure. We went to concerts together all the time. We’d drive hours to meet our favorite celebrities and watch them perform. We took each other to get tattoos and piercings. We did everything together. Then I left for college. Even if you don’t realize it, you’re so much busier in college. You can’t just drop everything and go to a concert or go to the movies, or go get a new tattoo. You’ve either got studying to do or you’re just too poor because you can’t work as much. If you have friends who aren’t in college, they don’t understand as much. Yeah, they’re probably busy working and doing their own thing, but they can’t truly understand because they’re not in your shoes. I tried my best to keep in touch with my friend for a while. Sure, there were times we’d go for a while without talking. At one point,...
