Due to the fact that Diabetes is a common factor and ailment, not only in the African-American race, but more specifically, in my family in the later years of life, I have decided to lose my excess weight between the dates of January 22, 2013, through May 16, 2013. I plan to achieve this with daily exercising by walking the Skyline High School campus once a day for four times per week. This campus encompasses approximately 1 ¼ miles around. I also plan to watch my carbohydrates intake and decreasing and doing away with soft drinks until May 16, 2013, because of the calories and sodium associated with bicarbonates. These are empty calories and are not healthy for me. I also plan to cut back on and eliminate processed foods because of the enormous amounts of sodium. My goal is to lose ten to fifteen pounds within four months so I can be a more productive mother for my daughter. This will give me more energy to participate in her school activities because I will be able to be more active. Losing weight will also prevent me from obtaining other serious illnesses which are also part of my family’s history.
