PROFESSIONAL GOAL STATEMENT: PhD, SPECIAL EDUCATION (Early Intervention)

I have worked in the medical field of Special Education as a qualified professional, both in private and public sectors. I currently hold a post-graduate degree from your institution pertaining to the same. The experience has kindled in me an urge to stay in this field and learn more about it. Therefore, I am presently applying for a Doctorate program in the same and plan to start fulltime in the fall.

PROFESSIONAL GOALS

While in the field, I realized that this is an area with diverse interests and acknowledge that there is still much to learn about the field. Specifically the key areas of interest to me include teacher education and reading disabilities. Disabilities limit the affected individuals to knowledge access, which is a right to everyone. I have noted this over four years of experience working with handicapped children. I intend to use the knowledge gained to help make the learning process easier and available to the handicapped. Teacher education is a key area that needs addressing, since they are ultimately responsible for imparting knowledge to the handicapped. Thus, I also plan to pursue a minor in the area.

ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

I attained both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the same at your institution. Thus, I feel better placed to further my knowledge in the same at the same institution. I have gained vast experience, both locally and abroad. I acted as the Assessment coordinator for the United Nations based program in Zimbabwe for a year, which granted me access to data measuring the effects of reading difficulties and early intervention. However, though in a tight schedule, I have managed to maintain consistent GPA grades and feel competent to start the program.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

I have had the opportunity of presenting medical columns regarding awareness of handicapped children and learning processes attributed to them. I was a key participant in the trial project targeting effects of early intervention in West Virginia, sponsored by the Bill Gates Foundation the previous academic year. In addition, my experience in Zimbabwe helped me gain much needed research data collection and am currently working on a report based on the same for the United Nations secretariat. In all the above experiences, i gained access to valuable data, which will help, in my thesis. I am also in the process of collecting data for a book I intend to release based on the awareness of Special Education as a whole.

WORK EXPERIENCE

I worked as a corpsman in the Navy and received a Blue Heart silver medal for valor during Operation Sandstorm. I also volunteered in Kokum Refugee camp in Kenya while on holiday.I also work on a pro bono basis at West Virginia Special School during my free time and interact with the kids. Thus,I get to learn the challenges they encounter and intend to work towards generally making their life easier to cope with.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

I am comfortable working in teams, which I believe is beneficial to the medical fraternity. Sharing of ideas is essential in this field as one gets to learn easier and faster ways of getting the message across to those who need it. I relate well to people, which immensely helps in research.

Walden University is in line to my goals as I base my academic background to it. I am conversant with the institution and would blend well to the curriculum and have an easier time in my studies. The online program will also help in managing tight schedules without losing touch.

Goal Statements Library

...Statement of Goals – Library and Information Science I have submitted my application for admission into the Kent State School of Library and Information Science as an avenue for professional growth within my current career. As a former Spanish teacher and currently a computer technology teacher, it is important to pursue the MLIS as current librarians seek retirement and technology continues to infiltrate libraries across our nation. I am currently interested in pursuing the MLIS plus the K-12 licensure in order to serve in an urban school library setting. My current teaching assignment of computer technology lends itself to a smooth transition from the classroom to a librarian position as our school district places more emphasis on digital media. I remain fully committed to providing instruction to students; however, with teachers and school librarians retiring in droves, I fear that our schools will be left with overworked teachers and no librarians in our schools. By completing the MLIS degree, I will be accomplishing an additional career objective. I remain committed to my career goals that were previously established many years ago. My first goal was accomplished by completing my undergraduate course of study at the University of Cincinnati. My second career goal was to obtain my M. Ed. In School Administration and I accomplished that particular goal in the year 2000. My third goal, albeit somewhat personal, was to earn my private pilot’s license, and I...

Statement one You need both parts of a 20-Mile March: a lower bound and an upper bound, a hurdle that you jump over and a ceiling that you will not rise above, the ambition to achieve and the self-control to hold back. Comment I like this sentence because I strongly agree with its idea. First, we need set a goal that should be done after we efforts. This is important, people always need goals to motivate us to get things done. Setting goals is a good habit for us. For the second one, I think it brings new idea to me. Its said, we need set a upper bound that we will not rise above. Its means if we required we do fitness two hours a day, at the begging, we may have more passion to do this, but we could not do more than two hours in one day, because it will drain your stamina, you may not have stamina for tomorrow’s goal. Same idea in other’s area, we setting a good goals, and strict the plan carefully. We should always put our views on a long term. If done right, personal financial statements provide information on current financial positions and help pave the way for financial success. Goal setting is most successful for me when I begin with short term goals. For short term, one of my goals is to establish a short vacation fund with which I can go on a birthday weekend vacation somewhere up north. I estimate that I will need roughly $400 by January 1st, and that I will need to save $34 per week for the next few months to achieve this goal. A second short term goal is to save pay off my $400 credit card balance on my Capital One. My intermediate goal is to begin saving for a wedding. Once my credit card bill is paid off, I can switch the $80 payment from the credit card to this goal. At the time of purchase, I expect to have saved $4,800. Although I will have some help from my parents on the cost of my wedding, this money will be helpful toward at least one of the many expenses involved in a wedding.
