Globalization Good or Bad Phl 320

...Globalization (Good or Bad) PHL/320 1/30/2016 Business Globalization is the tendency of business technologies, capitol, goods and services to spread throughout the world going beyond local and nationalistic boundaries. The practice generally accelerates profitability, and brand recognition while offering security from significant losses and expenses faced by similar entity’s in smaller business models. Although this sounds positive and beneficial; it does include unrestricted movement of labor and often may harm smaller or more fragile economies if applied universally. While I will focus on the impact globalization has on an organization from a business point of view, which is most often and very much a positive for the viability of a given business model; the crippling effect it has on standards of living, local economies, and job creation should not be forgotten. (1) There was a time being a local corner stone in business was “good”. At that time being a regional business was even better, and being a notional brand was just impressive; but in today’s world the ultimate goal is to be a global dominate brand. Globalization for business is “good”. The term “good” for the sake of this argumentative piece means it is advantageous and/or favorable economically to a business that is trying to grow, compete, and dominate in its space. It is also “good” for a business looking to find lower cost and/or obtain more diversified suppliers. As a business enters...

...Leon Lockhart PHL/320 12/15/2014 The definition of good can be described in so many different ways. Ones perception of good is going to be totally different then what someone of else thinks of the word. When looking up the definition of good it states “to be desired or approved of”. I think this is the best definition for the word good, you are usually looking for the good in things and when something is good is usually is approved. Problem Statement

...Introduction The term globalization can also be referred to as global village. Village is a small area where people can interact easily with each other without any barriers or obstacles. So we refer to globalization as global village because countries are now interacting without or with fewer restrictions as if they were a global village. It can also be defined as the interdependence of countries upon one another, which has lead to the reductions of barriers set by nations to restrict trade. The unification of countries has lead to countries moving closer to each other in terms of trade and cohabiting with each other. The goal of globalization has always been driven by the idea of gaining something. Countries who do not necessarily like it have tolerated it in the belief that it will aid in increasing their material wealth, goods and services through international trade. However, communication and transport are the front setters in making globalization easy and possible for parties involved but mainly it is driven by a combination of economic, technological and political factors. This is because these above factors influence the stability of a country and that is why every country is soughing after globalization, to have that stability. Globalization is more like the use of fire. It can be good when used right and for the right reasons. Never the less it can be harmful or dangerous when it is used for the wrong reasons and when it’s used is abused. Fire is good for cooking and melting...

...The Bad Behind Globalization Globalization always seems like a great idea and a goal to strive towards when starting a business. Globalization opens up opportunities to various markets. Globalization also allows a business to communicate more effectively and efficiently with their businesses customers, suppliers, and partners (Mourdoukoutas, 2011). However, there is also a very bad side of globalization that many overlook. (1, Premise) This bad side of globalization is called “free trade”. The Bad (1, Conclusion) Free trade is a euphemism for investor rights that in many cases make a joke out of labor rights and environmental legislation. What tends to happen is that American jobs are being exported to exploited foreign workers whose governments are more than happy to keep the laborers in check politically and economically for a share of the profits. American workers can work just as efficiently and diligently as any other country. However, when foreign laborers are paid one dollar a day to do the same job, America simply cannot compete. Americans lose jobs to outsourced countries and American income and employment declines. The solution would seem to be to just simply raise trade barriers that in essence would put an end to globalization. However, that would just lead to trade wars, such was the case in the 1930s (Mourdoukoutas, 2011). Conclusion Globalization sounds good in theory. The goal of most businesses is to make profit. However...

Globalization in India

...Aspects of globalization Globalization basically means the arising cultural and economic process between different parts of the world. The big question about globalization is how big of an impact it has on the third world countries. If you look at the western companies and the workers conditions, you get to see the hidden face of globalization. Has globalization had a good or bad impact on the third world countries, and is globalization even a good thing? Western companies and workers in the Third World The world is becoming increasingly globalized. As Western companies and consumers push for lower prices, working conditions in manufacturing countries are affected. Some of the largest companies in the world, such as Walmart, have some of their products come from third world countries, such as India. Some of the products that Walmart provides are made by human beings, under the worst conditions you can possibly imagine. As an example, young people and women are making some of those products every single day. The workers have to walk to work, which takes at least an hour, because they can’t afford to get there by another other means. They work in buildings where it’s over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes it almost unbearable to work. At the same time they are rushed by their superiors, who by the way are mostly men, to work even faster. If the women fail during work, they are beaten or punished in other ways, and as a site note, they get fired around the age of 35, since the...

...Is Globalization bad or good? We are stepping into a whole new time of globalization in many aspects. Countries and countries are associated with each other, from cultures, economy, and policy, etc. A big melting pot of different cultures is right on the stove, it is actually exposing many effects to various aspects and areas. Under the new social background with mixed cultures, things always have two opposite ways, good or bad. Some arguments point out that globalization could be the cause of some serious problems like war, terrorism, and immoral business activities. Countries lose their unique identities and less country power as a whole party. However, other evidences prove that without globalization, the world would never change. The result is actually pushing the whole world forward for further development, gathering all creation and benefits together, and is even beneficial for emphasizing countries own identities from many others. Globalization is the process of migration; capital flows, spreading of cultures, technology and food spreading throughout the world. It is happening everyday, everywhere in the world. I, as an international student comes from China and attending my university in United Stated, I bring the money to US, come with my own Chinese culture background and personal identities, my language, and living styles as an Asian. I think I have finally fallen into a part of cultural globalization, exchanging or sharing my culture with American friends, I benefits...

Globalization

...Globalization in Business Donovan Chase PHL/320 12/22/2014 Bridget Peaco Globalization in Business Is globalization good or bad for your business? (1, premise) Globalization is viewed as either good or bad depending on your particular situation. For example, if you are an emerging growth industry, globalization represents a significant opportunity to access broader geographic markets, to accelerate growth and expand your business. (1, conclusion) However, if your business is an industry that has imploded due to the onslaught of global competition, or you have suffered a job loss due to downsizing or outsourcing you probably have a very negative view on globalization being good for business. Is Globalization “Good” Before we can decide what is good we need to have a definition of “good” as it relates to our topic. According to "Merriam Webster" (2014), Good is defined as something that is right or good. Something that has economic utility or satisfies an economic want. An example of good in the way we are defining it is the difference between good and bad. I personally feel that globalization is not good for the business of America. (2, premises) Globalization takes jobs away from people in the United States which raises the unemployment rate. (2, conclusion) Therefore, negatively impacting our economy. Workers can often be forced into accepting worsening...

Globalization Argumentative Paper

...Globalization Shannon R. Newcomb PHL/320 June 29, 2015 Jennifer Stephens Globalization In today’s business world, the term “world” is literal. Globalization, the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets, has become the norm. While there are always two sides to an issue, globalization has become a good, positive force in business. For the purposes of this paper, the term “good” means favorable or advantageous. (1, Premise) Operating globally, businesses work with other countries stimulating trade, creating employment, and boosting economies. According to Mike Collins, a contributor for Forbes Magazine, “globalization promotes economic growth; creates jobs, makes companies more competitive, and lowers prices for consumers” (Collins, 2015). Globalization helps to stimulate trade by allowing organizations to gain knowledge about the trends, culture, and customs of other countries to better market to those parts of the world. (1, Conclusion) Thus, globalization generates effective communication between countries in order to trade, create jobs, and boost economies. (2, Premise) Globalization creates a worldwide shopping experience. In the past, consumers were limited to what was nearby for purchasing. With globalization, the options are limitless. Gone are the days of cookie cutter gifts from your local Walmart. A unique gift is just a click...

... |     | | |  | 'The Advantages and Disadvantages of Globalization' Top of Form syahid     Apr 9, 2010, 10:03am   #1 Even though globalization affects world's economies in a positive ways, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss. Globalization has contributed a lot to the world today. It boosts countries economies, advance technologies and improve daily life of the people. But in the meantime whether it is a blessing or a curse has sparked much debate. This is because the benefit of globalization always come with the drawbacks. For me, the advantages of the globalization are outweigh its disadvantages. Convincing argument can be made that globalization has led to advancement in technologies. This advancement has built the new world without boundaries. So, the communication can be made with any other parts of the world through technologies such as internet and telephone. Hence, ideas exchange can be done among intellectuals, journalists, scientists or ordinary people. As a result, the best ideas will be spread all over the world which led to enhance the world achievements. However, there are some disadvantages of the globalization. The absence of boundaries of the world through technologies could create harmful to the people. To illustrate, the access to the bad website in internet such as drugs and pornography could affect people minds. For example, recently, an actor was caught for...

Globalization and Healthcare

...Globalization and Health Care Samuel Palmer Week One Assignment One IBA301.90 Author Note Samuel Palmer, Business Administration-Marketing Major, Post University, Waterbury, CT. Merriam-Webster defines globalization as the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade, free flow of capital, and the tapping of cheaper foreign labor markets. Same can be said for health care. With rising costs, patients and health care systems have begun to look abroad for services and employees. I will address three questions in relation to the globalization of health care in this essay. Firstly, is globalization of health care good or bad for patients? Second, who might benefit from the globalization of health care? And lastly, who might lose with the globalization of health care? Is globalization of health care good or bad for patients? This depends on who the patient is. For the United States, globalization means plainly the exporting of patients to other countries and the importing of medical services from other countries. With lower medical costs in other countries, patients now have the option to travel to those countries to receive care. Of course these patients inherit travel costs and any other necessary expenses associated with the travel, but is it not worth it to get better? U.S. medical facilities are now incorporating medical collaboration from physicians in other countries, where the need to be physically present is...

Globalization and America: Who Is Winning?

...With the rise of globalization the world today is more interconnected than ever before, with this new economic reality there bound to be both good and bad result. As America being the biggest and most dynamic economy in the world, the question of whether globalization of business is either good or bad for America is complicated issue. In order to clarify the issue, it is necessary to see who benefited and who lost out on this. The purpose of this paper is to determine whether globalization of businesses is good or bad for America. The globalization of businesses brought more competition and loss of jobs to the average American workers, and factories (Roberts, 2010) . At the same time globalization opened the doors to new markets and more low-wage labor forces for large corporations in America, (Zagaria, 2011). The globalization is essentially trade of goods and services across borders, with the advent of the internet; globalization was solidified as a new economic reality. Illustrated in The Rise of the Multinational Corporation by Nick Zagaria, off shoring strategy amongst selected 100 corporations increased from 20% in 2005 to 50% in 2008. This shows that more corporations are outsourcing jobs than before, a trend that likely to increase, how does sending of jobs affect the overall American economy? More jobs sent abroad means less jobs being maintained or created for the average American workers. Shown by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, in Globalization Creates Unemployment: American...

...Globalization in Business Denise Martin PHL/320 October 26, 2015 Jennifer Stephens Globalization in Business Globalization in business has so many benefits that I believe that, although it may have it’s bad side, it’s good sides make it a smart move for a business to make to stay competitive and grow in today’s economy. Saying that globalization for businesses is good I mean that there are so many positives for globalizations that it can be a major benefit for a business. The plus sides of globalization Globalization is, according to Businessdictionary.com (2015), “The worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade, and communications integration.” (1, premise) Globalization is a way for businesses and companies to be able to expand their market from local to nationwide or even worldwide if they so desire. It opens the ways a company can communicate and the speed in which it can communicate with other businesses, clients or customer base. (2, premise) Another way that globalization is good for a company is that a company who uses globalization to advertise and “spread the word” of the services and products it offers can reach a larger number of people not only to grab them as customers, but, they can reach out to advertisement agencies and find different people with different ideas that they may feel will work much better for the way they would like to advertise. Why Globalization Is Good for Business

...The Good Side of Globalization Christopher Schemers PHL/320 March 30,2015 John Preis Globalization in Business In the last twenty-five years, the world has seen a good side of globalization. For the last four of those twenty-five years, the business world has seen a bad side of globalization("Forbes.com", 2011). There is also an ugly side to globalization, and organizations hope and pray that they will never have to experience it. The ugly side of globalization being when nations and communities try to escape the brutal cycle of income and employment declines through coetaneous currency devaluations. Globalization is Good The Industrial Revolution began a rise of global inequalities causing a select amount of countries to experience a much rapider economic growth than the rest of the world. This growth gave a small handful of countries an advantage over the remainder of the business community, until the beginning of the globalization era("Worldbank.org/", 2014). Advances in transportation and telecommunications infrastructure, including the rise of the telegraph and its successor, the Internet. A phenomenon is now in effect, with some of the poorest countries having emerged and turned into global engines of growth.  A globalized corporation offers a complex web of forces and elements that bring people, markets, and practices into an increasingly greater juxtaposition("Debate.org", 2015). The integration and interrelationships of indigenous and...
