1. Poor information is the quickest way to ruin a good database. The case says that data visualization is used for contextualizing the data. Companies will use data visualization to give the date they are showing emotional impact. One place where data visualization is currently being used to is monitor what is being talked about on social media. Digg is a populat website right now delivers the most talked about new stores. You are able to read news stories and shoare them at your computer, on your phone, or tablet. You also get daily emails with popular stories. Stack is a program that creates a data visualization of the stories that are on Digg. Stories drop into a graph and as the topic gets more hits, the bar on the graph grows. Below is an picture of Stack.

All Stack is showing is what topics are being looked at, and the amount of times a topic is being accessed. This give the viewer of this data visualization information about what people are interested in currently. This is helpful data that is easy to read. If the devlopers of this program would of put poor inofmation, or unneeded information into this data visualization, it would have become much more confusing, and it would no longer be a beneficial to the viewer. This data visualization is quick and easy to view and come to a conclusion on.

Poor data just confuses the person who is using the visualization to gain information. At my last job my bosses loved seeing an overview of the different departments. The human resource department decided they wanted to start using some different types of data visualization. One of the areas that managers were interested in was who was applying for jobs. The human resource manager went into the software we were using to track candidates and printed out every report that could be generated. The problem was she did not clean the data before...

Introduction to Sabermatrics

...innings. One inning is divided into two halves; in the top half of the inning, one team plays in the field and the second team comes to bat, and in the bottom half, the teams reverse roles. The team that is batting during a particular half-inning is trying to score runs. The team with the higher number of runs at the end of the nine innings is the winner of the game. During an inning, a player on the team in the field, called a pitcher, throws a baseball toward a player of the team at-bat, called the batter. The batter will try to hit the ball using a wooden stick (called a bat) in a location out of the reach of the players in the field. By hitting the ball, the batter has the opportunity to run around four bases that lie in the field. If a player advances around all of the bases, he has scored a run. If a batter hits a ball that can be caught, or that can...

...Encapsulation and Abstraction do the same thing but with few differences. Encapsulation mainly encapsulates the object and so hides the details as well as it binds the data.  So Encapsulation = Hiding + Binding the data How it hides the data? Real-time Example? Take the example of n-Tier application where we have an additional layer called Business Objects. This layer contains all the entities with their properties. Take an entity name: Employee. This Employee will have the class name "EmployeeBO.cs" and contains the public properties like EmpId, EmpName, Sal ets EmployeeBO.cs So this is the presentation of one property in the Business object class. Now wherever we want this attribute, We just need to create the object of this class and set/get the value of EmpId as: // set the EmpId EmployeeBo objEmployeeBO = new EmployeeBO(); objEmployeeBO.EmpId = 101;      // get the EmpId int empId = objEmployeeBO.EmpID; Now the question is where its setting or getting the value? EmpId is the public property in the EmployeeBO class and contain no value. Only _empId contains the value which is private and so it is not accessible. So binding of the data happens to the EmpId through _empID and hiding happends through _empId which is private. The Data is accessed through the Public property while the actual data is in private variable. So      binding + hiding using Encapsulation.      Abstraction is to ignore the unnecessary details and get the required details. So it......

Saving & Investments of Brazil

...response combining monetary easing, some fiscal stimulus and credit expansion, allowed Brazil to withstand the 2008-09 global financial crisis well. Real GDP growth of 7.5% in 2010 was the highest since 1986 and the fifth-best performance amongst the G20 countries (Table 1). This robust growth is estimated to have removed all remaining slack from the economy. Over the next two years, real GDP growth is foreseen to slow to less than 4%, well below trend rates of around 4.5% per year. Domestic demand, spurred by strong investment, is likely to continue to sustain activity (Table 2). Inflation is projected to diminish gradually but to remain in the upper part of the target range of 2.5-6.5%. Risks surrounding this scenario are on the downside and good economic performance in Brazil remains contingent on a relatively benign scenario for the...

Securing Sql Server

...practices for securing SQL Server. Best Practices for Disaster Recovery. Bad things happen, but to a corporation, entity or country, a bad thing happening to its server is worse than bad. It’s a Disaster. The loss of crucial information, records and vital statistics can bring the death to whatever the data base is associated to. That is why Disaster Recovery is one of the most prioritized tasks a data base team may face. Given that the creating a data base is in itself the major goal, protecting that data base should a disaster befall it is as important. There are numerous ways to do this. This paper deals with the best practices of how to accomplish this. The first thing should be to make a backup plan. This should: 1. A computer where the backup will be stored 2. What programs that will be used to back up the database 3, The computers to be backed up 4. A schedule of when to backup new data to the data base 5. The offsite location where the data base recovery data will be stored The second practice is to document all the changes that are made to the database. These include service packs, hot fixes and QFEs that have been applied. This is crucial for getting a data base restored to its original state should a disaster occur. These steps should be implemented to help prevent or minimize the effects of a disaster: * Have software and firmware make updates readily available * Have copied of all software on disks readily available and securely kept *......

...benefit analysis in data warehouse design” This research seeks to address the issue of identifying the set of data which has the potential for producing net value for the organization through a model that helps to perform the cost benefit analysis. Typical data warehouse store a set of data tables which are of 2 types: base table and materialized view that are generated from the existing data tables. Data warehouse is used to support a set of decision support views. There is a need to identify the set of DSV’s that provide the most net value to the organization and this will determine the set of data tables that should be stored in the data warehouse. DSV’s are used to perform particular tasks that are beneficial for the organization and also helps to achieve the organization goals. In the data warehouse formulation phase who needs what data has to be considered which is identifying the needs of the IT and business users of the DW. According to Kalfus et al, all data are essential and must be stored and interesting patterns can be extracted from it. But the disadvantage of this is if all the data is stored the space consumed by it will be very high. Data warehouse quality is also an important factor for those who design the use of systems that support decision makers. The cost for improving the quality is high. The cost benefit analysis can be used to identify the DSV’s that give the most net value to the organization, suitable quality levels and the data tables that are to......

Recent studies are trying to develop a new technique for reducing the power consumption in cellular networks and making it more environment friendly, with taking the efficient power transmitting to the user on their consideration. The first mobile network consisted of only one base station; currently there are more than 4 million base stations worldwide to satisfy the huge demand on the mobile networks. On average each base station is using about 25MWh per year, which is about 60 percent of the total power consumption of mobile network (NAHAS et al., 2012). The focus of the proposed project is to increase the energy efficiency of the mobile networks without decreasing the quality of service of the mobile networks; it is combining and improving of suggested mechanisms to improve the existing mobile networks and hopefully to be implemented on future networks. B. Problems to be addressed The main issue that faces the decreasing of the energy in cellular networks is that more than 55 percent of the whole power consumption in the mobile operator happens in the base stations (BS’s) (VADGAMA & HUNUKUMBURE, 2011). The base station is the part of the network that is wirelessly connected to the user’s mobile phones. ...quality issues, and long-lasting consequences. Choosing the right supplier is strategically important when an organisation tries to reduce its supplier base to maximise costs and procurement processes.
