Throughout the duration of the four years I spent learning at Wakefield High School, I have witnessed myself evolve both physically and mentally into the person I am today. I entered freshman year as a naive and inexperienced kid, whose concerns leaned more towards making friends rather than succeeding academically. However as my time at Wakefield progressed, I found myself drifting away from my original inclinations and moving towards bettering my education.

This newfound shift in thinking, arose, as a result of being inspired by a certain number of teachers and friends I was fortunate to have had, throughout my four years. They not only inspired me to be better, but they put me in a mindset that allowed me to discover my passion for computer …show more content…
A number of my friends have told me that my gpa was good, and have advised me to apply to other four year universities, but I disagree because my gpa doesn’t accurately depict my potential. For example, I have managed to get a 3.7 gpa in junior year, which was, in my opinion, a much more difficult year compared to freshman and sophomore year. As a result, I feel like if I had worked as hard in my first two years as I had in my junior year, I would now be having a much higher gpa, in turn opening me up to more …show more content…
Applying to FAFSA or other scholarships most likely will not bring down tuition for me that much. Nova’s Pathway to the Baccalaureate program combined with FAFSA however, provides me with a chance to significantly decrease my overall college debt, post-bachelor's degree. In fact that’s my plan, to graduate from Virginia Tech or UVA with the lowest possible debt. Joining this program helps me accomplish this goal.

By joining Nova’s Pathway to the Baccalaureate program I plan to continue bettering myself, and utilizing the aid of this program to fulfill my goals of studying at Virginia Tech or UVA, as well as saving money. I plan to work hard, and do everything in my power to excel in my classes. This program not only gives me quality education at a lower cost, but it also gives me a second chance to academically reinvent myself and take advantage of opportunities that could potentially propel me towards a path that will aid me in achieving my

Research for Graduate Application Process

...Requirement 1 a) For this project, our team studied the GPA calculation process used by the Office of Graduate and Continuing studies (OGCS). This process is utilized for the admission of international graduate students at the University of Tampa. Our team used a variety of resources that were made available to us to discover the way and the different steps included in this non-traditional transaction process. First, our team met with Maria Kast, who is the Assistant Director of the International Graduate Admissions for the University of Tampa. Maria Kast authorized us to talk about the admissions process at UT for the purposes of our class and gave us a tour of the facility that house the Office of Graduate and Continuing studies (OGCS). Jake, Florian and Ivy also conducted the interview of Iris. Iris is one of the graduate assistants dealing with the GPA calculation process for international students seeking acceptance in the graduate programs at the University of Tampa. She provided the team with insights as to how the process goes to calculate and compute the GPA of international applicants. She also explained how the NOLIJ Computer System is used by the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies to store, retrieve, and verify information concerning international applicants. Iris also talked on our behalf to Juliana, another graduate assistant at OCGS and Juliana explained further to Iris about the storage of the data concerning applicants. Masters Admission

...is a mixture of facts, inferences and extrapolations, based on my personal experience as an admissions committee member at Stanford. All views expressed here are solely mine and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of Stanford University. 1. Introduction In this paper, I outline the various parameters involved in the complex decision making process of a Masters admissions committee in a top graduate school in the US. To clarify this further, (i) This report is mainly targeted at MS applicants, but a lot of it can be extended to PhD applications as well. In most cases, the requirements for a PhD admit will just be a stricter version of those mentioned here. (ii) I do not have a specific list of universities in mind when I say "a top graduate school". Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley and CMU are certainly up there, but I am not particularly referring to any specific list of graduate school rankings. In a more general sense, I am talking about schools where the default attitude of the admissions committee is "rejected, unless strongly proved otherwise" rather than "let's give him/her the benefit of the doubt". These schools tend to follow a risk minimization policy, and if in doubt, they would reject the candidate rather than risk diluting the quality of the incoming batch. (iii) The content here is targeted only at the applicants to US universities. Though some of it might be the same, I have no personal experience regarding the admission...

Field

...What is Personal Statement Overview of the Personal Statement Personal statements are sometimes also called "application essays" or "statements of purpose." Whatever they are called, they are essentially essays which are written in response to a question or questions on a graduate or professional school application form which asks for some sort of sustained response. Some applications ask more specific questions than others. There is no set formula to follow in shaping your response, only choices for you to make, such as whether you should write an essay that is more autobiographically focused or one that is more professionally focused. From application to application, requested personal statements also vary widely in length, ranging from a couple of paragraphs to a series of essays of a page or so each. Personal statements are most important when you are applying to an extremely competitive program, where all the applicants have high test scores and GPA's, and when you are a marginal candidate and need the essay to compensate for low test scores or a low GPA. :: Context Considerations How are personal statements read, and by whom? It's most likely that your personal statement will be read by professors who serve on an admissions committee in the department to which you are applying. It is important in developing your personal statement to carefully consider this audience. What are the areas of specialty of this department, and what might it be looking for in a graduate...
