For a start, the purpose of this paper is to give the reader an appreciation of how the interview with a Grantwriter started and how it transitioned into a detailed conversation as validated in the audio recording. While on the subject of audio recording and confidentiality, it was requested by the interviewee that the voluntary information shared be used only as a learning instrument for the sole purposes of only the interviewer (Student – Ben Escobal) and the grading professor of this document (Dr. Hoefer). Although she was never thrown into it, she had the opportunity to assist other directors/upper management team members formulate RFPs and familiarize herself with grants and the mechanics of what it takes to be a successful grantwriter. One of the skills the interviewee mentioned that she was deficient in as she started her first grant was being able to decipher through all the information and recollect /select what really had to be done or is needed – “the small details that will make you or break you, the nuts and bolts of the project that hold it all together” (D. Delay, personal communication, September 16, 2016). With that being said, the interviewee continued on to share that it is imperative to take note(s) of all the questionable information you may come across for any grant, and to reread the instructions a few times before making a solid decision. That said, I plan on using the same platform, as I prepare for our group assignment and enthusiastically engage in our consigned RFP development. I have learned that the eight skills which are; clear concise communication, evaluation, structure, having respect and humor, able to give and receive constructive criticism, the implementation of google docs, pre-planned communication, and doing what you say you’re going to do, are going to be fundamental and the navigation tools needed to become accountable/productive to each other, but more importantly, successful grantwriters in Dr. Hoefers’s class and in the age of
