Immigrants moved to the United states for higher pay and a start for a new life. The years between the 1900s and 1915 was when the most immigrants came. Hard times and epidemic in Italy sent many immigrants to the U.S. The bulk of people immigrated in 1905 when the U.S. had industrial expansion (Doc. 1). The travel to the United States was no curse, it involved long days with hundreds of people in the mid 1800s. In addition to an average of 12 weeks on a boat (OI).
