Does luck exist? Some think they were just born lucky and that they just always have good luck, others just don’t have luck at all. If you ask St. Patrick himself, he might disagree because he believes in God and that he has the power to oversee everything that happens to you. On the other hand, if you ask someone who is not a religious seeker they might say that luck is just something that is magical or witchcraft. One thing that relates to luck is the little shamrocks- some believe if you find the 4-leaf clover among the shamrocks, you are said to be lucky. Is this true? everyone has their own opinion about luck but it all depends on how you look at it.

Let’s learn more about the shamrock and how it relates to this holiday. The green Shamrock is a symbol of St Patrick’s day because of the man himself: St. Patrick. “According to Biblical scriptures, the religious figure used a shamrock as a metaphor for the Christian Holy Trinity.” Each of the 3 leaves represent God in 3 forms: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. How it has to do with luck, some may question. Some get confused with the shamrock and the special four leaf clover; although they are close relatives.

The name of the first McDonald’s, which was located in San Bernardino, CA, was McDonald's Bar-B-Que (Farfan). It was a typical 1940’s drive-in with roller-skating car hops (Mcdonalds.com). In 1949, milkshakes were added to the menu, and French fries replaced the potato chips (Farfan). In 1953, Stanley Meston designed the Golden Arches (Mcdonalds.com). Ray Kroc learned about the first McDonald's in 1954 when he tried to get them to buy a milkshake machine. He became a franchise manager in 1955. He also helped McDonald's open a franchise restaurant for the first time in Des Plaines, Illinois (Farfan). Ray Kroc purchased the interests and right of the McDonald’s name for the price of $2.7 million in 1965 (About McDonalds). McDonald’s has their own school to train employees called Hamburger University (H.U.). The Hamburger University was opened in 1961, located in the Elk Grove Village’s basement in Illinois (Mcdonalds.com).
