Comparing Grendel and The Grinch. Can there be a lot of similarities between two totally different titles like Beowulf and How The Grinch Stole Christmas? Well there are plenty. For example, Grendel and The Grinch both are monsters. They both are isolated from the villages and attack at night. The stories even have a character that is considered a hero. Even though they have similarities, the differences show in the background, characters, and the conflict. The Danes and the Whos’ were both celebrating. The Danes were celebrating because of their hard fought victories against their enemies. They built a mead hall in which they drank and sang all night long. Because of the loud noises of The Danes celebration, Grendel went to go see what was irritating his ears. Grendel then noticed the mead hall hall full of sleeping Danes. He then proceeded to eat 30 men as they was unaware. When Beowulf finally awakened he was able to fight off Grendel for the moment. The Grinch caused trouble by sneaking down to Whoville and stealing the presents santa bought for the children and the people of Whoville. The movie says that The grich “climbed up to the top of the roofs, with a empty bag in his fist. He’d slide down the chimneys, a rather tight pinch. Grendel and The Grinch both caused troubles, but will be very affected by their decisions. Meanwhile could their decisions be caused by the fact they both don’t have a mother and a father. Grendel had a mother, but his father was not mentioned. His mother came back for revenge when Beowulf killed Grendel. The Grinch flew into Whoville, in a basket, as a baby. Two women took him in, until when he disappeared, because he got rejected and made fun of on Christmas by his whole class. He left and lived in the highest mountain with his dog max. Later on he used max as a reindeer, to look more like santa, as he stole everyone’s presents. Could this be the reasons for the troubles they have
