Habits

We all have habits, in fact, anything repeatedly done is defined as a habit. Habits are done without even thinking about them. Habits might be good or bad. Rising early, working hard, being punctual are examples of good habits. Gambling, swearing, lying, drinking, stealing, and fighting are examples of bad habits.

I am a smoker, as much as I know that this is harmful to myself and others around me, I find myself struggling to quit. This is a bad habit. As much as I would like to quit, every time I try, I cannot get past the initial withdrawal. I know that each day that I would be smoke-free would be one day closer to being free from the addiction, and one step closer to a healthier me. That is when my subconscious takes over and with one quick movement I light up again.

According to some around me, my worst habit is my use of foul language. I, on the other hand, believe in the freedom of speech and do not share their point of view. Words are just words, they only hold meaning if someone allows them to. I do understand that many people see that what they consider foul language to be someone’s limited vocabulary. I, on the other hand, believe that unpopular and unwanted speech is vital.

I think one of my good habits is that I am a hard worker. I have consistently worked and provided for my family since I was eighteen years old. At one point, I worked a seven day a week job. It was tiring, and I had no time to see my family, but I trudged along knowing that I was making life a little bit better. I gave my all to whatever was asked of me. I have never had an employer complain that I did not give them one hundred percent.

Another good habit of mine is being dedicated. I got married to my wife at a young age; we have since been married over twenty years. Things were not always peachy keen, and we struggled along the way. My dedication to my
